Not sure if a Mobile HQ counts as a Combat Vehicle, or a Non-Combat Vehicle, but either way what is YOUR best idea for a Mobile HQ? Is it a thin-skinned 18-wheeler packed with comm gear, or a heavily-armed and armored command tank? Or somewhere in between?
What is YOUR ideal Mobile HQ vehicle?

With the basic idea of running away being the best defense: The Steinadler HQ VTOL. Essentially unarmed it carries enough armor to take a few hits, and enough speed to outrun all but the fastest enemy units. Of course enemy aircraft has to be avoided at all cost!

My idea of a mobile HQ? A MG variant Goblin that stuffs three tons of Communications Equipment into the 5-ton infantry compartment, using the other two tons for staff...
-
Interesting!
Never thought about a VTOL or Hover Mobile HQ vehicle. Nice concepts!

My idea of a mobile HQ is along these lines (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Leviathan_III) [blank] ;D >:D

How big a unit is it the HQ for? For a company, probably just a mid-sized tracked vehicle with a bunch of armour, ECM, HQ facilities, comms equipment, and a few tons of personnel space. Maybe C3 masters if the company uses them. For a battalion, you'll probably need multiple vehicles, and they'll be expected to stay a bit further from the front lines, so you can break that up a bit - one for the staff, one for the comms, one for the facilities, and so on. At that level, stealth and battle avoidance starts to look more appealing than ability to take hits or contribute to the fight, so you might even go to light hovers at this point. Same sort of considerations at the regimental level, though by then a DropShip might be the better choice. By the time you get to a RCT or division, you start to look longingly at kit like portable HPGs, and consider moving your HQ up to a WarShip or the like.

That's part of the challenge is open to you, though multiple entries are always welcome ;)

I just want some armor and mobility.
20 tons
tracked 6/9 ICE
5 tons armor 20/20/20/20
3 tons comm. equip., 1 ton inf cargo
(replace 1 ton comm. equip. w/ camera & remote sensors or more cargo if you don't need the satellites.)

I'm old school so pre-MaxTech.
Like really ancient man... Age of the Worktroll!
Not kidding, Record Sheets Volume Five: Vehicles.
The lovely little Jeep that can.
I take it you've never used 'em before? Standard is twin MGs, Support has a two pack SRM launcher, both have a ton of ammo. I make an HQ model with a single ton of Comms, the Ambulance version uses Paramedic tech, there's even a cargo hauler / refueler mod. Whatever fits in the 2 ton Bay. Also original fluff stated four persons are carried on board.
Simple, out there and most importantly... a physical record sheet!
TT
