Ah. Now that I have a chance, and you pointing out a change, along with comparing to my pdf copy of the previous version, I can see the differences.

It starts off with Archetype character creation (take the sample characters it includes, and either adjust it with 500 points or the GM gives bonuses each session to develop)

Then the point buy system. Followed by the sample characters which are moved up to this section. And then the life module system.

the characters themselves had changed a bit (most of them) to a lot (the elemental) as they were rebuilt with point buy rather than the modules.

Okay now that is something I can get behind.  I still wish they had taken the opportunity to do more but such is life and maybe they are just taking their time in considering where they want to go from here.

While scanning through, I found another improvement. And it deals with the whole skill points issue in stage 3.

So reminder. Old way. 30 XP per skill. Track number of skills per field so you know how many you’ll get the bonus of 6 XP back.

New way. Spend 24 XP per skill in each field. But it grants you 30 XP for each skill. Same result, but much cleaner and faster.

This was the email:

Hi there,

We unfortunately received news from our distributor today that this pre-order is cancelled and that they will redo a new version at a future date (TBD).

As a result we will have to cancel/refund the preorder. This rarely happens and I'm not sure what the reason was but I'm sorry it did not work out.
