Patriots lose Edelman for the season with an ACL tear.

Tell me again how preseason is a good idea?
He tore his ACL when he made the cut right before contact. That kind of injury could have just as easily happened in practice.

Yay go Cardinals!  Also, it's kind of depressing seeing a game advertising "Los Angeles Chargers vs Los Angeles Rams" - all my 40 years of nostalgia aside, how does one city get two teams anyway?

Perhaps try asking Chicago or New York.

And LA is having serious attendance problems, filling up their stadiums. Even with the dunk one the Chargers are using.

I'm actually not surprised.

L.A. stopped being a football town a long time ago.

Perhaps try asking Chicago or New York.

Bah, the closest in-state game New Yorkers have to go to is Buffalo, some 380 miles away. Now, the metropolis of East Rutherford, New Jersey, clearly is on the same level as Los Angeles.  O0

The LA vs LA shouldn't be that surprising.  Used to be Rams and Raiders in the 80s and into the 90s.  Its more surprising how LA has been without a team for nearly 20 years...

Take a look at the Rams' attendance and ratings last year and tell me you're surprised again. ::)

LA didn't want a football team, and still doesn't.  They have two now, and they're at best the fourth and fifth most popular teams in the city, and the list ahead of them includes some college teams.

The main thing that actually surprises me is that the city of L.A. itself thought this was a good idea and allowed it.

You forgot the UCLA Bruins and the USC Trojans.

Ducks and Galaxy might be pushing it, but I don't know them well enough to tell.

Yeah that is weird.  There is much better QB talent on the market right now.

Including right on their own team. In the end, if Siemien got hurt in the first couple of weeks, Elway didn't want to stake the season on the shoulders of Kyle Sloter until Lynch came back. He got Oz back cheap ($775K) and only for one year. I expect Oz to get the sack once Lynch is back to being healthy. Oz at least knows the coaches so that's good I guess.

Where? Surely you don't mean Kaepernick.

Seattle let Boykin go.  Yeah he's been terrible in the pre-season and made some bad decisions but he still looks to be an upgrade over Oz.

And Siemien on their own roster.

After that I'll admit it does get a little shakey if anyone else is an actual upgrade or not over Oz.

Rule #4 prevents me from making a specific comment, but Elway has made his opinion of Kaepernick very clear, and it has nothing to do with his skill as a QB.

Osweiler or Ward?

Flip a coin. I'm pretty sure Elway had some kind of aneurysm last week.

Side note, we'll know more today about the fate of the Bus/Dolphins game, but it looks like it's likely either being played Thursday or moved due to the now-Category 5 Hurrican Irma making a beeline for southern Florida.

Fat Guy's week one predictions!

Kansas City at New England
Chiefs might be pretty good this year, but not good enough to beat the Deflatriots. New England.

Arizona at Detroit
This one is going to be close. Coin flip says Arizona.

Atlanta at Chicago
This will be a blowout. Atlanta

Baltimore at Cincinnati
At least the Bungholes have some healthy players. Cincinnati.

N.Y. Jets at Buffalo
Jets may be even worse than Cleveland! Buffalo.

Oakland at Tennessee
I tried to think of one reason that the Raiders could make a game of this, and couldn't. Tennessee.

Philadelphia at Washington
This will be painful to watch. Philadelphia.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland
It seems the Steelers get a fifth preseason game. Pittsburgh.

Tampa Bay at Miami
Ask me again in November when they actually play it.

Indianapolis at L.A. Rams
Colts don't look to improve any time soon. L.A.

Carolina at San Francisco
Two teams going in opposite directions. Carolina.

Seattle at Green Bay
Another close one. Seattle.

N.Y. Giants at Dallas
As good as the Cowboys looked last year, the Giants look to be better this year. New York.

New Orleans at Minnesota
Gonna be a rough year for the Saints methinks, starting now. Minnesota.

LA Chargers at Denver
And an ever rougher year for the Broncos. L.A.
I have spoken.
