Miniature of the Fortnight #66: Charger
« on: 08 April 2019, 20:47:14 »
Every faction has (at least) one BattleMech it is irrationally fond of, despite the design's obvious shortcomings.  This fortnight, we'll look at a favorite of the Draconis Combine, the Charger.  In its original form from Technical Readout: 3025, it was an odd duck and, even after extensive work from the Combine, it's still kind of an odd duck.  To learn more about it and its evolution, please see its 'Mech of the Week article.

Despite its age, there are only two metal sculpts for the Charger:If you have any painted, please share!  We'd love to see them!  And thanks for reading!

Our next two fortnights will be:
  • Clan (4/22): Locust IIC
  • Inner Sphere (5/6): Dervish

Here's one of mine that I have posted before. This is a plastic mini from the Alpha Strike boxed set with a No-Dachi hand and sword and some other bits to convert it to a CGR-3Kr variant. I have 2 other standard Chargers but no pics yet.

I have a single AS Lance Pack Charger from my Illician Lancers battalion.  I play it as a CGR-3K.

Found 2 more custom ones, based off the 1A5.  Probably loses the 2nd SRM for more armor or ranged weapons.

My one and only painted Charger belongs to the 17th Galedon Regulars. The Regulars are known for city fighting, and the Charger (especially the CGR-1A1) is known to be woefully under-armed... Which made for this scene of him peeking around the corner, with his big, bad, small laser ready for action (I'm sure he wishes it was the Mech equivalent to the MIB "Noisy Cricket"). I've never been sure who was more afraid, the Mech pilot, or the infantry he was supposed to be "protecting".

Charger KMZ, rather old.  Jakuza' mech from Sapphire Sunset gang, with wakizashi style blade, mentioned in fluff for SM-produced mech Wolverine.
