So I'm putting together a Third SLDF lance, even if I don't have anyone to play with here in Lincoln NE. I've got a little backstory for the unit, though I'd entertain suggestions and ideas for fleshing them out further since I don't have the ilClan era novels and am only working from the sourcebooks.
Reisen: Mad Cat Mk IV PR
Tewi: Jade Hawk
Seiran: Thunderbolt IIC
Ringo: Shadow Cat II 3
Part of the Inaba-gumi yakuza syndicate in Tottori, Japan, all but Tewi were Luna-born, the three others emigrating to the planet itself as they each reached the age of 10 to attend high school and the military academy at the Takayama Castle Brian. Trained as MechWarriors, their skills came in handy during the short-lived Jade Falcon attack on Japan. The four pilots assisted in a raid on a Jade Falcon staging area and stole a number of BattleMechs to be taken to secret warehouses and hidden away.
When the Star League was announced and recruitment started for the Defense Force, the Inaba-gumi answered the call with its four MechWarriors, piloting their captured Jade Falcon machines. Since the Wolf leadership viewed the fight against Tau Galaxy as a Trial of Possession, the Inaba-gumi's family of MechWarriors were allowed to keep their choice of BattleMech from the salvage at the Takayama Castle Brian. Their enlistment was part of a extensive deal to keep government pressure off the syndicate; other members would also join the nascent SLDF in support and administrative roles, leveraging their corporate and criminal tentacles to bring a strong logistics capability to the military.
Rabbit Team, as the unit was quickly dubbed, formed a heavy cavalry lance in the First Star Guards' Second Battalion during Operation Prestige. The members of the lance, along with the rest of their company, found the fact that they had joined the SLDF in the year of the Rabbit an omen. They served at the Battle of Tobruk against the insurgent forces, quickly learning the devil's dance of urban combat. They followed Mason Dunne's command to Liberty, an island-hopping campaign that saw their training against Capellan tactics come to the fore. Along with the rest of the First Star Guard, 3152 saw them return to Terra as a prestige formation. During the downtime on Terra, Rabbit Team would find their 'Mechs rebuilt with a firmer focus on urban and close combat and teamwork than they had been previously.
EDIT
Slight change to the 'Mechs and names involved, to make more of a hammer-and-anvil team with an emphasis on lots of SSRM6s for critseeking. Tactically the faster Jade Hawk and Shadow Cat outmaneuver their targets while the Mad Cat Mk IV and Thunderbolt IIC provide the frontal attack.
