Doing some research for the Annual MechWarrior Games on Illyria, I was amused to find that the official title of the person who organizes/runs the gladiatorial games, the Master of Ceremonies, if you will, is Editor.

That was because he created the story on which the gladiatorial battle would be based, remember the Movie Gladiator, when the one who organized and announced the show as the Battle of Zama?

We can always license build those Roman units from the Wolves and Davion. Alaric would have no need to stuff his troops with non-Wolf production eventually

Clearly in a world where making money to rebuild or transform Factories would be prioritized, the necessity would make Alaric sell the designs in question but, we already know that in Battletech this is not always the case, even Strategically it is convenient to reinforce the Hegemony so that the FWL has a annoying neighbor behind your back

Agreed that strategically Alaric wants to reinforce the Hegemony to keep the FWL occupied and divert them from the Wolf Empire.

It would be very smart of him to do that, yes.

Does he actually want to do that? No way to know. Hell, we don't even know if he considers the Hegemony to be worthy of being Clan Wolf's tool or patsy. For all we know such a strategy might be seen as a stain on his Clan's honor.

Wolves have used other factions for proxy wars in the past.  They helped the Hell's Horses try to pull a fast one on the distracted Ghost Bears in 3063, and they helped the Jade Falcons counterattack against the Steel Vipers in the Hegira War.

Emperor?  Blasphemy! The Hegemony has a Caesar!

Too bad the Davions and Republic snapped up most of the good Roman names early on.  Be nice if the Hegemony made the Legionnaire, Centurion, Prefect, Caesar, Praetorian, Pilum, Trajan, Phalanx, Longinus, and Brutus, instead of just the Gladius.
The Hegemony does make a Centurion these days.

In these years The Hegemony makes the Centurion, the Gladiator, the Icarus, the Withworth and the Emperor and that's just Marian Arms, then there is what the ATC may be building (Locust and Commando for sure, other things assumptions) and Hadrian Inc

Very true, though it must be pointed out that both of those examples are Clans. Only time will tell if that's a major sticking point to Alaric.

Do we know what the Marian's opinion's on the Star League is? It's possible they would be disinterested in working with the Wolves just as much as the Wolves may be disinterested in working with them.

There is no political opinion expressed. I imagine that the HPG problem is still delaying the arrival of clear news about how the Wolf/Republic affair ended.
The issue between the Wolf Empire and the Hegemony is different, there is something that is clear in the issue of Galleon C that sounds to me like a sale of material to test the market by the Wolf Merchant Caste and as a sign of whether there is interest in part of the Marians

Still wish the Marians had gotten a Cataphract refit as part of the RecGuides instead of the reflec junk we got.  I thought it fit their aesthetic best out of possible heavies.

Guess you could also hope for a license agreement for the Hound, it would work pretty well in the MHAF.

That unfortunately is the writers' decision, we got the Withworth and the Sl tech modernization of our other lines (Icarus II, Centurion, Gladiator and Emperor), it surely would have been interesting if they put more mechs and Aero (and it wouldn't be strange if they still pass that), we will have to wait for the Rec Guide IlClan 33 and see if they give us something else

Which Centurion model did we get? The speedier 50 ton D3, the 9Ar, or the 55 ton B?
If we get a new mech, I'd probably think it would be a heavy or a light since we produce 4 mediums and an assault at present.  The silly RAF stole a lot of the rest of the Roman command ranks so it will be interesting to see what happens.

If you ask me, I would estimate that the Centurion AR would be the Jihad Field Refit.
I agree with you that if we win another design, a heavy mech would be interesting. As for Light, I would not rule out that Starcorps or Kurita have sold us a design to build it ourselves, perhaps with a similar deal as a percentage of production for them as payment for the transfer. of design, tech and weapons patents perhaps the Wight in case of a Light Mech

Yeah MHAF needs a solid heavy trooper and a light mech with jump jets. With the New Dallas core being widely available the Firebee could be a good candidate  for a modern variant.
The Cap Com seems to have no intrest in the mech other than the two ancient ones they upgraded.

The CC is producing more FRB-3Es based on pages 28 and 29 of Field Manual 3145 and  pages 101 of Jihad Final Reckoning.  That's why the FRB-3E isn't unique in the Early Republic and beyond.  Did we get updates to all of the TRO 3039 mechs in the Rec Guides other then things like the Kintaro? I could see a Champion or maybe a new design based on the Thunderbolt since we seem to have a ton of those...

The Firebee thing is a strange topic, someone told me that Capella only makes refits, not that it builds it from scratch, but the truth is that it seems strange to me.
Given what we would have in production, I agree that it would be good to have a fast Light Mech or with Jump (Wight/Panther or something else), and some heavy mech (Tbolt, Catapracht or another more modern Bandersnatch-style design)

They actually have plenty of Firebees. As part of their Sinicization campaign, the DA versions are called Yinghuochong (Chinese for "Firefly" - not an accurate translation of "Firebee", but yeah)

The Yinghuochong is derived from the Firebee, but they’re not the same design, and have quite different capabilities.

Well recapping the topic

We have 4 Medium Mechs and 1 Assault in Production (if they do not decide to change this of course)(Marian Arms)
Then we have the Locust and the Commando manufactured by the ATC (probably innovations and some variants have been made but we will have to wait for that)

Then waiting for some extra mechs to fill gaps, probably
either or modernization of primitive mechs (Firebee?, Mackie?)
Or mechs manufactured by one of our commercial partners who sell us the License (Starcorps?, Taurus?, the Draconis Combine?)
Probably a couple of light mechs, some heavy mech

Probably the Lyrans, since the Hegemony has been a thorn in the Duchy of Tamarind Abbey's side for a while. The Gallant and Cestus are both solid trooper chassis, and XLs are About the only Star Corps heavy that hasn't been covered in a Rec Guide I can see is the Thanatos,..

It's actually part of the post-3140s wave of rebranding past designs into "new" units. It's understandable that CGL needs to make money in various ways, and they can't keep making "new" models of the same units as modern variants, so they have to rename them, but the fact is, the static technology of BT has hit a ceiling for such a long time that all the new units are simply reinventing the wheel in one way or another.

There's been no quantum leap ever since the Clan Invasion introduced Clantech.

The three models you mention of Lyran origin are nice, The Gallant, the Cestus and the Thanatos would be very good additions for the Hegemony, they would strengthen it militarily and expand Marian sales within the Periphery market and the Mercs
