weapon colors

Is there a standard for the color of the inside of the barrel for energy weapons?

PPC: blue?
Large Laser: red?
Medium Laser: green?
Small Laser: Yellow?

Finally got around to painting and thought I would ask what people do.

No standard colors, though MWO-like is popular nowadays.

PPCs would be blue to light blue, perhaps purplish for heavy PPC.
Lasers would follow EM spectrum based on power, so blue for large, green for medium and red for small and micro. (MWO's Clan lasers are just different).

Personally i'd follow MechWarrior IV Mercs+MekTek MekPak style (i haven't so far actually painted colors to weapons, just used black.
Light blue for Light/standard PPC, ERPPC
Purplish blue for Heavy PPC
IS standard lasers and pulse lasers: red
IS ER lasers and X-pulse lasers: blue
Clan standard, pulse and ER pulse: green
Clan heavy lasers: yellow-orange

And i'd extend this by making Re-engineered lasers orange, and RISC Hyperlasers violet (if there was unit with those).

Typically, PPCs have been described as blue/blue-white. That's going to be a broad association with players. Lasers are more varied, and there is no set standard. I usually go with something that contrasts with the scheme being used, and then try to differentiate between large/medium/small. For example, a scheme heavy on blues or greens might get red/orange/yellow for lasers.
