I like your idea, but went in a slightly different direction. My thought was Zettle Metals could get Succession Wars era Commandos and refit them with more advanced electronics. I tried to keep the expensive and exotic systems (stealth armor, partial wings, etc.) to a minimum because I thought Zettle would probably need time to get their hands on them and not know how to market 'Mechs equipped with such systems.
Pathfinder II PFF-4A: For exiting Pathfinder users
The PFF-4A is my idea of a "scout/sniper" or special recon 'Mech that gets far behind enemy lines, gets the surveillance it needs, and then gets out again. The remote sensor dispenser makes it a good match for militia forces who need to monitor a wide area. No C3 because it replaces the Pathfinders that are attached to militia units.

Overview:
Pathfinder II built by Zettle Metals.
Basically a Succession Wars Commando was stripped of all weaponry and new
electronics systems added. Bloodhound Active Probe to find enemy forces, Angel
ECM to jam enemy links, and TAG to designate for artillery.
For expand surveillance options, a Remote Sensor Dispenser is mounted in the
leg; The Bloodhound probe can monitor them. Also a Recon Camera is installed to
both act as a backup for the TAG system and provide visual scanning.
The ER Medium Laser is still present, but has been moved to the head. The TAG
system resides in a Crusader style leg mount attached to the right hip. This
allows the Pathfinder II to carry a handheld weapon; Pilots often have their
Techs put four Rocket Launcher 10's in a box protected by a half-ton of armor.
Aside from the advanced electronics, the only real extravagance is the engine
supercharger that allows the Pathfinder II to sprint away from trouble at 120
km/h.

The PFF-4B is based on the -4A, but uses a Light Engine to free up more weight. This allows the addition of a C3 slave unit in the right torso. The standard armor is also switched out for 4.5 tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor.
