That does seem more reasonable.

Currently, I'm fiddling with a Heavy Assault platoon that uses "exoskeletons", but in reality it's built using Motorized rules and Ballistic Plate. Seems like a nice, low-tech way of getting an armoured infantry platoon.

Oh and share your platoon ideas here as well guys. I'm looking at some sorta beast mounted stuff right now.

Thanks Bostwick very nice

EDIT: I was also looking for the other infantry platoon designer that actually let you print out the platoon on a TW style sheet

It does indeed seem more reasonable, but I was just reading through TRO3085 saw something depresssing.  On page 205, the Surveillance Specialist use M42B and have thirteen damage with twelve men.

I think it's an awesome idea to use motorized infantry rules for the "exoskeletons" of your Heavy Assault platoons.

No, someone on the old boards designed a platoon creator in XLS......and its not the one i got  from Bostwick.
the one i got was designed by Boilerman and its called an infantry platoon number cruncher

Yep, the problem is transporting these fellas...

And that is depressing. Seriously, what were they thinking giving those guns that much damage?

OK, at this point I'm convinced the infantry rules are definitely borked.  >:(

I wouldn't say that, It's that one of the weapons (M-42B) seems out of line with all the rest.

Let me show you an example:

WTFm-42bBBQ!! Platoon: Mechanized, Tracked (4 squads of 7 men)
20 w/ M-42B w/ non-inferno grenades
8 w/ Support Laser, Heavy
3MP (ground)
To hit: (0-5h), +1(6-7h), +2(8-10h), +3(11-12h), +4(13-15h)
Damage: 34(28), 33(27), 32(26), 30(25), 29(24), 28(23), 27(22), 26(21), 24(20), 23(19), 22(18), 21(17), 19(16), 18(15), 17(14), 16(13), 15(12), 13(11), 12(10), 11(9), 10(8 ), 9(7), 7(6), 6(5), 5(4), 4(3), 2(2), 2(1)

Kell Hound Munchkin Clantech Platoon: Mechanized, Tracked  (4 squads of 7 men)
24 w/ Mauser IIc w/ non-inferno grenades
8 w/ Support Laser, Heavy
3MP (ground)
To hit: (0-5h), +1(6-7h), +2(8-10h), +3(11-12h), +4(13-15h)
Damage: 30(28), 29(27), 28(26), 27(25), 26(24), 25(23), 23(22), 22(21), 21(20), 20(19), 19(18 ), 18(17), 17(16), 16(15), 15(14), 14(13), 13(12), 12(11), 11(10), 10(9), 9(8 ), 7(7), 6(6), 5(5), 4(4), 3(3), 2(2), 2(1)

Add to that the FedSuns' standard infantry kit (the 3030 era one) that gives an Armour Divisor of 2 without Encumbering the wearer.

Wow. That seems like it's cheesing the rules.

On review... is it just me, or do the infantry construction rules look kinda breakable?  :-\

Extremely. Its why I wish they'd done the sane thing and made it so infantry support weapons were simply replacing a rifle or two with the equivalent battle armor weapon

Honestly I wish we could start a topic demanding less FUBAR infantry rules...

I think he wants to propose to CGL that they issue errata going the other direction and fixing the unbalanced infantry rules.

What is the appropriate venue for the suggestions / complaints box type affairs?

It used to be "Ask the Writers" or "Masters of the Universe" (now "Ask the Lead Developers"), but they seem to have narrowed the scope of those areas, and I'm sure they still don't take unsolicited rules input.  TPTB already avoid wide swathes of the board to avoid the possibility of inadvertently swiping ideas.  If you have a very specific issue, questions in the Rules Forum have resulted in official tweaks in the past, but I don't recall any major revisions.
