Coolant capacity and usage
« on: 10 August 2023, 12:05:14 »
The fluid suction system described on page 247 of the sixth printing of TechManual explicitly says that it may be used to draw coolant from other units. This could, I imagine, be used to refill Coolant Pods (page 209 of the third printing of Campaign Operations), resupply your own units, or even refill Coolant Ammo bins (page 173 of the sixth printing of Tactical Operations: Advanced Rules).

To make use of this capability, I have a few questions:
  • What is the coolant capacity of each unit? For perspective, a Coolant Pod holds a flat hundred kilograms.
  • How much coolant do units use during normal operations?
  • How do the following scenarios impact coolant levels?
    • Heat Sink Coolant Failure (page 103 of the sixth printing of Tactical Operations: Advanced Rules)
    • Radical Heat Sink Failure (page 83 of the third printing of Interstellar Operations: Alternate Eras)
    • Emergency Coolant System Failure (page 86 of the third printing of Interstellar Operations: Alternate Eras)
  • How do Laser Heat Sinks (page 129 of the sixth printing of Tactical Operations: Advanced Units & Equipment) affect coolant capacity and usage? It's clear they have some, but it's also clear they have less.
