Facelift Dragon?
« on: 04 October 2017, 02:45:11 »
I don´t know where to ask this since this will be (maybe) affect a mini, a design, a new product and new print product.

Its about what´´s going on on the cover of TRO SW. I wonder what will happen to the design of the Dragon.
On the cover it look very different from what we get inside the TRO which offers the old artwork.
My question is will the Dragon design will get a new look? The Thunderbolt, Wasp, etc. had gotten a facelift. Now what about this new look on the TROs cover?

You're talking about this art?

It would be really cool if the sculpt was made after this art. Probably the best Dragon design i've ever seen. The full picture also has a Jenner and a Panther in the background... Hmmm...

Didn't the Dragon II(or whatever it was called) come with the bits needed to make the old dragon?

Looks more like the Clan Crossbow 'Mech than a Dragon.

Yeah... But it still doesn't look as good as this bloody ART!

I... Don't see the resemblance.

the shoulders on the clan crossbow just need to be elevated a tad and you've got a match

Really the only thing different about that cover image is the look of the armor panels/panel lines. The profile appears the same as the current Dragon mini. Reposing the mini could make it look almost identical.

Well, to each their own, but in my opinion it looks much better than the art ;)

And for the record, I agree. In the artwork it has more Crossbow than Dragon characteristics.

I'm with Cache. I can see the resemblance to the Crossbow, but the lines on this cover art seem pretty classically "Dragon" to me, albeit with different panel lines, and better rendering quality. The cockpit canopy, in particular, resembles the Crossbow more than the Dragon. The autocannon arm is also somewhat redesigned, but the torso, legs and feet look like a pretty close match to me.

Are you blind!?  Give it different arms, different shoulders, different hips, a different head and an LRM launcher in the chest and its a dead ringer for that Dragon artwork!   ;)
