Trial of Annhilation
« on: 18 June 2011, 19:16:24 »
From our game last Saturday in Brantford, ON.

This game was a two Stars of Ghost Bears vs. a short Level III of Word of Blake.

WoB outnumbered the GB force 18 to 10 and out weighed them by a few hundred tons.

The objective was for WoB to get as many units on the dropship as possible, GB were to destroy as many units as possible.
We rolled 2D6 at the end of each turn to determine if the dropship made touch down.

The board.

WoB deployment.

GB deployment.

Both forces on the move. WoB moves some of their faster units out ahead to make use of C3i and tag.
The GB Pack Hunter 4 jumps ahead to distrupt the WoB forces with ECM.

WoB sets up a firing line just inside the trees consisting of two Demolisher II's and two Hunter Light Support Tanks (2 LRM 15 w/Artemis IV).
The GB Nova Cat F jumps ahead to use ECM.

The GB Ebon Jaguar is destroyed by the combined fire of the Demolisher II's, Hunter's, and several mechs.
It manages to knock the Shootist down but out with it's return fire.
Several other units take moderate to minor damage. The WoB Hussar has been stripped of almost all it's armor.

Both sides close on each other. Several units take serious damage and fall.

WoB forces make a push through the center of the GB line. A few units manage to make it through.
The Spartan has lost a leg but is far from out of the fight.

The GB Nova Cat jumps back to try and slow down some of the WoB units.
The Shadow Hawk has taken serious damage and is looking to make its escape.

The bulk of the WoB forces get bogged down by the GB forces,
the GB Pack Hunter jumps behind the WoB force and starts taking shots at the exposed backs of the WoB mechs.

WoB forces manage to inflict some serious damage on a few GB mechs unfortunately they are unable to destroy any.

The WoB Dropship has touched down. Some of the lighter WoB units try to make a break for it.
The GB Nova Cat continues to slow them down.
Things start to turn bad for the heavier WoB units left behind.

The WoB Hussar, Raijin and Phoenix Hawk have all managed to make it past the GB Nova Cat, all sustaining moderate to severe damage.
The Nova Cat does not pursue due to the threat of the dropships guns.
By now all that is left of the WoB heavies is the Highlander, the one-legged
Spartan, the two Demolishers and two Hunters. The WoB Nexus II tries to break out on the far side of the map.

We played a couple more turns which saw the destruction of the WoB Highlander, Demolisher II's and Hunter's.

WoB managed to get the Hussar, Phoenix Hawk, Raijin and one Pegasus on the dropship.
All other units were destroyed at the cost of one GM mech.

The Dire Wolf finished the game minus a left torso and with only 10 points of armor left overall.
The Hussar had one point of IS left on its center torso.

WoB forces were never able to get much use of the their C3i due to the ECM used by the GB force.

This was our first use of vehicle's in any of our games the proved to be very dangerous.

Overall a great game.

Until next time!

It seems like an entertaining game.
Great to see a pair of Kodiaks on a table.

That Direwolf looks great. What variant is it suppose to be?

It looks like a Dire Wolf A with a Gauss for a left arm and three large pulse lasers for a right arm.

nice work, love the board too!

The First Proserpina Hussars were eager to fight the Smoke Jaguars, but the commanders assigned them to attack worlds held by Clan Nova Cat instead. They faced a hard fight on Kanowit, but took Mualang by winning a round of miniature golf. This obviously minimized further losses.

Thanks for posting this, Alyxis will be happy to know her Hussar made it out alive. And thanks again for such a awesome game.
