Lost in Space (Netflix Original (reboot))

Well, watching the first few episodes. So far it seems more fleshed out, more drama than pulpy.

After the first two episodes I'm enjoying it, decent characterisation, good performances, looks amazing. It's totally predictable, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Penny is clearly the best character.

I am watching the first episode.  I have to keep reciting the Mystery Science Theater Mantra to ignore the fact that they claim that the air temperature is -60 C and the cast has exposed faces.

But it's otherwise good.

Well, it can happen in very specific circumstances (after about 1:09 here).  I'm going to guess the situation you're talking about wasn't that...

well it did start closing from the edges as well. I thought it was natural as heat rises, cold follows?

I'm only 2 episodes in, but discounting Will because he's only 10, Penny is the only stable person on the Jupiter 2. Judy is suffering from PTSD, which is a result of her own stupidity. Dr "Smith" is a sociopath and the the parents are completely dysfunctional. I'm gonna keep watching, but I am forced to take my time until I have my days off.

Ice is less dense than liquid water.  Except under very special circumstances, a body of water will always freeze at the top first and the ice will spread downward.

And that video I posted was of one of those very special circumstances...

I'm enjoying the series. It's not deep or hard science, but the production values are fairly high and through ep 4 the story is interesting enough. I like Penny and her quips, and Dr. Smith is fun just because she's a relatively believable sleaze ball rather than a mustache-twirling Bad Guy.

I'm curious how the Resolute survived. Based on episode 1 or 2, it looked like it was totaled.

It wouldn't be a lost in space reboot if he didn't show up somewhere

I decided to give the reboot a try one night while ActionWife was out with friends.  About halfway through the first episode, ActionYoungestKid started watching with me after he became instantly interested in Will and the robot.

We're about halfway in and really enjoying it so far. My memories of reurns of the original are hazy, at best, but it still does a good job of adapting the Swiss Family Robinson in space.  More than anything, I'm really loving Parker Posey.

As I was watching (I'm only on episode 3), it was bothering me that the mother  (Molly Parker)  looked familiar.  I looked her up in IMDB and I haven't watched anything else she's been in.  Finally it hit me.  Her facial features reminds me of Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen).  I know they aren't dead ringers for each other, but there's enough of a resemblance to me that it was triggering that "she looks familiar" vibe.

Anyone else think so?

Not really seeing it - the actress connection.

As for the show, watched it all the way through, and it looks like a good set-up for a second season. I'm liking this take on it. Looking forward to more.

Can anyone think of any parallel moments between this and the old show? While I've seen some episodes of the old series, I don't remember specifics. However, there were a few times I'm thinking that came close.
