OK, there are actually four classes of drones, and three ways drones are transported by the military;
Drone Cubicles - these are the individual packing-case types with contoured cases and padding - what you might expect to see for small, explosive charges like grenades or the booby traps built into every Blakist drone. Anti-tampering, but mostly for last-ditch attack. Another reason why they were Annihilated, attacking civilians, etc. (In that sense, the H-DR might be termed a cubicle. Its not, because its intended to be launched from it, not carried as cargo.)
Drone Racks - these are 1.0-1.5 ton racks, carrying various numbers of drones in positions to assist techs with final operation checks, maybe a charging port, and a system of restraints or webbing to prevent damage from jostling. Due to the fact these are expected to go into combat, the drone can launch it from this position, although there are requirements for
VTOLs, Wheeled, Tracked, Displacement Hull, Submersible, Fixed Wing drones depending on their movement type, size, etc.
Drone Hangars - This is a new one, something I realized I needed for the Harvester mod. In my head, Hangars (of any class) are pre-prepared, sealed launch platforms for (normally) larger drones. I haven't really sat down and finalized crits, mass, or anything like that, but they aren't meant to be armor; they're basically a plastic tube with a pop-off cover at both ends so the motor doesn't make a giant mess. Most of the previously designed ones weren't fusion- or jet propelled or rocket boosted (I lost a lot of them to the bad MML files.).
The big issue is, these are armed and ready to launch at the press of a button.
So, here's a bit of the Drone rules I've got finished;
Drone Racks (Vehicle/’Mech)
Drone Mass Type Rack Mass
>50 kg Micro (10) (Mi-DR) 1 ton
50-100 kg Light (6) (L-DR) 1 ton
100-500 kg Medium (2) (M-DR) 1.5 ton
500-1000 kg Heavy (1) (H-DR) 1.5 ton
The Micro is intended for BA and Technicals, the Light has a highlight for some concern so I've italicized it - don't remember why, but think its the number of drones - but its mostly for Technicals and Auxiliaries, the Medium and Heavy are more for the Avalanche and other drone transports, less single use and suicide platforms and more reloadable weapons.
Any drones over 1000 kg are less numbered models and more named platforms. For example, a wheeled assault BA with drone equipment is still called a Grizzly (Even if its slang name is 'Dirty Bear' because its most common use is to tow a nuclear bomb.).
