Yeah, took the screenshot, then remembered to fix that, it's done.  Same with some missing words, the armor - fixed a couple, left notes to do the rest later.  I've learned to concentrate on moving forward, not edit repeatedly.  Far more important to add 100 new words than to get that perfect grammar or spelling.

They probably won't stay.  The IS/Clan ones are the only example I can find, the rest use their given names, so...

What's the difference between Drone Racks and Drone Hangars?

Are Racks for Single Drones, while Hangars are for multiple Drones?

OK, there are actually four classes of drones, and three ways drones are transported by the military;

Drone Cubicles - these are the individual packing-case types with contoured cases and padding - what you might expect to see for small, explosive charges like grenades or the booby traps built into every Blakist drone.  Anti-tampering, but mostly for last-ditch attack.  Another reason why they were Annihilated, attacking civilians, etc.  (In that sense, the H-DR might be termed a cubicle.  Its not, because its intended to be launched from it, not carried as cargo.)

Drone Racks - these are 1.0-1.5 ton racks, carrying various numbers of drones in positions to assist techs with final operation checks, maybe a charging port, and a system of restraints or webbing to prevent damage from jostling.  Due to the fact these are expected to go into combat, the drone can launch it from this position, although there are requirements for VTOLs, Wheeled, Tracked, Displacement Hull, Submersible, Fixed Wing drones depending on their movement type, size, etc.

Drone Hangars - This is a new one, something I realized I needed for the Harvester mod.  In my head, Hangars (of any class) are pre-prepared, sealed launch platforms for (normally) larger drones.  I haven't really sat down and finalized crits, mass, or anything like that, but they aren't meant to be armor; they're basically a plastic tube with a pop-off cover at both ends so the motor doesn't make a giant mess.  Most of the previously designed ones weren't fusion- or jet propelled or rocket boosted (I lost a lot of them to the bad MML files.).

The big issue is, these are armed and ready to launch at the press of a button.

So, here's a bit of the Drone rules I've got finished;

Quote
                                            Drone Racks (Vehicle/’Mech)
Drone Mass           Type         Rack           Mass
>50 kg              Micro (10)   (Mi-DR)        1 ton
50-100 kg            Light (6)     (L-DR)         1 ton
100-500 kg      Medium (2)   (M-DR)       1.5 ton
500-1000 kg     Heavy (1)     (H-DR)       1.5 ton

The Micro is intended for BA and Technicals, the Light has a highlight for some concern so I've italicized it - don't remember why, but think its the number of drones - but its mostly for Technicals and Auxiliaries, the Medium and Heavy are more for the Avalanche and other drone transports, less single use and suicide platforms and more reloadable weapons.

Any drones over 1000 kg are less numbered models and more named platforms.  For example, a wheeled assault BA with drone equipment is still called a Grizzly (Even if its slang name is 'Dirty Bear' because its most common use is to tow a nuclear bomb.).

Will the Drone Cubicles/Racks/Hangars eventually be mounted on New-Clan warmachines in the aftermath of the war? Because they seem too useful to abandon.

Edit: Are the Drone Designs going to show up in this thread or are they going to be in a separate dedicated thread?

Like, this is the base design and intended (civilian) role, and this is the version modified for warcrimes?

Yes, the drone is out of the Hangar.   xp  Drones are too useful to the resource-starved New Clans, but the memories of the Invasion will lead to an iron-clad, "You build it, you intend to use it, we intend to Annihilate YOU first.". Doesn't matter, I have Plans, but this isn't the forum for them.

 They'll be in their own thread.  Most people have no interest in drones/robotics - why not label it?  I guess we'll see if our battletech is back up, that's where I was posting before.  The feels most like a blog than anything else, but having screenshots somewhere I can't erase them is a godsend, so...

And no, at this point in time in the Cluster, the Blakists and their allies are the only ones with the technology.  The Blakists, anyway, the others are just monkeys pushing levers and pressing buttons.  So, every design is a war crime waiting to be used.  The Blakists don't have the resources to try defeating the NC in a straight up fight, the NC have to go nuclear (and want to) to win quickly, the Civil Government chickens out, and the traitorous Zombie Pythons serve as abject example (much as the Wolverines did) even if they had better reasons to hate the rest of the New Clans

Well, this is one of the most annoying and hateful circle-parties I've ever found in the Battletech ruleset.  It seems clear small craft require;

Gunners - no mention in Step three, as referred to by Step five.  Its actually in Step 2 (Controls and crews), but suggests it be skipped until the end of Step five.  None of these sections actually spell out the requirements for the number of gunners; I presume it to be the same as the Support vehicle calculation in the SV Construction thing, but without proof, I need to bother the writers.  (Probably.)

Quarters - no joy on the quarters; I had assumed the crew would perform double-duty; fly the vessel and man the Arrow IV when necessary afterward.  By my guess, it should take 3 people.

Fire Control - no mention I've found.  Which is a bit of a nuisance.  And for some reason, when I try to use MML to load a sample unit, it finds none.  Did you know MML has 'small craft' as a weight class?  Just found them.

Of course - not even the samples are very helpful.  For example, the Tigress T-15 Small Craft carries 4 ML, a LRM-15, and a PPC, for one gunner.  Which means the Gunner calculation is off.

I do have a couple ideas how to proceed - the -1NC needs to lose the BA bays to supply the three gunners for the Arrow IV with quarters.  Not too bad.  The -1B will pass, along with the -3B, but I need the rules questions people to get on the stick, so all i can do is wait to confirm my understanding of the 2 ton base station and the 0.5 ton control console is correct.  If I have to have more than one 2 ton base station, it gets complicated, and again, the MML samples aren't very helpful without recreating them and spending an afternoon at it.

Of the units I have yet to do, an escort, Artillery, and Landing craft with 2xLight vehicle bays are still possible.  Hopefully another couple days - maybe Thursday or Friday, then massage the chapter to something I can come back to on the Delta draft and then, who knows.

The table on page 189 says one gunner per 6 standard weapons, and one gunner per capital weapon.

It's harder than it sounds.  Prior to a rule clarification, you could use bay quality quarters for crew, and that saved a LOT of weight.  Everything is harder since they applied the DropShip standard to Small Craft.  Personally, I'd prefer to use the older rule.

I'm determined to at least try.  Ironically, 12 iACs, 2 steerage, and 20.5 tons of drone tech is almost perfect.  Same for the artillery unit.  If co xpurse, I've lost my flash drive again...

So, I seem to have focused on written rules, and not paid attention to tables.  Dang it.  Thanks, Daryk.  That saved me at least a week waiting for an answer.

So, got the last page of Avalanche variants mostly done.  The iAC (Assault) variant works out very well with 12 weapons and an additional 2 Gunners, and both it and the Artillery unit with 6xArrow IV launchers have large amounts of tonnage left.  I'm still thinking about what - it needs at least ten rounds of fire if I use a ballistic or missile weapon.

I have no ideas for the Escort (Point Defense); its my least favorite, and likely to be cancelled.  I also added a 2xLight vehicle bay variant (also with over 20 tons of remaining tonnage).  This one is likely to deploy WiGE vehicles, kicking them out the door at low altitude.

If somebody has a suggestion about these, I could use the help.  They're starting to blur together and I'm looking for something to make them stand out.

For the escort Point Defense variant, I would suggest taking inspiration from the Goalkeeper.

The final basic version; the reason the armor is 20AP/ton is that its modified from a K-1C - I needed the 600 BMFx.061 multiplier to save tonnage, otherwise I would have gone with the IS modifier.

Now that I have my workbook and flash drive in the same place again, it was plain copy/paste had betrayed me.  From now on, all copy/paste lines are going to be EMPTY.

I hope to have the next page done in about a half hour, and the last 3-4 tomorrow.

Well, thanks.  I'm really pleased with how its turning out so far, but I have a minimum of another year before even getting close to finishing it.  As it is, I'm going to have to take a break of about a week or so - I had to take off four days next week to get rid of last year's vacation time.  And I can use the time, but its raining a lot (and thank god) and every hour I can spend getting some of these major nuisances (stuff like cleaning dryer vents, all the painting I missed last year...) I can't afford to pay somebody to do dealt with.

That said, I am really, really close to finishing the Avalanche.  I wanted to use a screen launcher but couldn't find it until I got home and went on Sarna to locate it in TM.  And darn it, its not allowed on Small Craft.  Or is it?  IT IS!

...But I can't fit 10 rounds of ammo.  I'm still looking for something, but that was my best idea.  I really don't want to just load ECM or AMS on something - that's what drones are for.

Well, I couldn't figure out how to make it something more than a waste of tonnage for an AMS battery - Drones have replaced such things.  So as I was paging though the rest of the book to try and come up with a new variant, I noticed the Drone/Robotic Support Bay placed on one of the former Serpentis series of vehicles.  Eureka!

So, scrapped the escort/PD version, and came up with a variant equipped with an unpressurized repair bay and H-D/RSB to support Pocket WarShips and drones over 5 tons.  The only other one I could think of was a in-flight tanker, and I wasn't going to do that.

This may not be over, however; I seem to remember the screen launcher projectiles could be carried on hardpoints, but I've left a note to investigate it another time.  At any rate, here's what I hope will be the final screenshot.

From pocket warships on down to 5-ton drones.  I don't know if such a small repair bay is legit, but it seems reasonable to assume that it could be.  How else are they going to repair single-use drones and stuff?  You can't just let it float away - lose one, lose 1/4 of the parts of a full-up 20-ton ASF.  That gets expensive after a while.

Fair point, there hasn't been much explaining how unpressurized docks work.  I had the impression their similar to the Star Trek franchise's floating unpressurized dry dock, essentially a fold-able rib cage like structure, each "rib" or Frame as naval terminology goes. would speak out  from the craft converying it.  Frame could expand it's forks, the spine would be added being powered by the Dropship itself or a portable small habitat or small factory would get attach providing power and warehousing for the material.  DropShip could be cargo ship with storage of raw materials to repair and housing for the crews with their tools. A Mule or demilitarized Union (their in MWDA) such as a Danai (Star League Era).  I'd make picture if were to dare.   Not 100 percent sure how small tonnage vessel would fair.  Frames don't need be heavy, they just need provide means to allow for lighting, mooring lines to the supporting craft to provide power to tools or hook points for raw materials. Nevermind powering the main craft being repair like a surge protector/power extension.

At any rate, this chapter is done, and I'll be spending some time finishing the Extra-Light Mech rules.  Spoiler: they carry Heavy, Proto, and BA weapons...  I just noticed the 12-ton Striker looks a lot like that 40-ton Wolf mech with the Heavy lasers.
