Personal Re-Entry Unit
« on: 31 January 2011, 01:57:22 »
Is there any more information about the Personal Re-Entry Unit detailed on pages 26-27 of Strategic Operations?  I'm particularly curious about c-bill cost and history.  I don't recall previous mention of this equipment so I'm wondering if it's new equipment introduced at a certain point in BT history.

Thank you

I believe it first appeared in the MechWarrior 2 RPG book, but I don't have my books with me right now. Either there or Battlespace 2.
I mean, it's not like once you having something in low Earth orbit you can stick a gassy astronaut on the outside after Chili Night and fart it anywhere in the solar system.

There is no Battlespace 2.

They're not in the MW2 equipment section.

I'd check Covert Operations, Lostech, and Combat Equipment Guide, but I don't have those handy.

I've checked all the books above and so far I have not found it.   :(

The 0.25 ton weight that Strategic Operations specifies is lighter than is typically used for battletech scale gear and 250 kg is on the high side of what I've seen for mechwarrior gear (besides battle armor).  From the quick reading I've done of previous iterations of aerospace rules this is the first book to cover ejecting from an aerospace fighter.

Anyone else picturing orbital skydiving as veing a popular "extreme" sport in the Battletech universe?

Which is mentioned when the Re-entry unit is talked about in the book.

Oh! I know what I'm thinking of. GURPS UltraTech has something equivalent.
