Games of Berkeley introtech IS vs Clans
« on: 17 September 2023, 21:33:14 »
Finally got to play again after maybe 10 years?  Wanted to try out two of my customs but BV limitations and the fact I didn't print up a sheet meant I could only field one.   Ended up using the more maneuverable Crushammer Nova (4/6/4, 2 Larges, 6 meds, 17 hs).

Veteran IS vs Regular Clan.

Crushammer Nova 2/3
Rifleman Janos Marik 2/3
Vindicator Link 3/4
Shadow Hawk 2H 3/4
Phoenix Hawk 1D 3/4
Spider Gwen 3/4
Wasp 1A 4/4
Stinger 3G 4/4

VS

Warhammer IIC 4/4
Ebon Jaguar Prime 4/4
Huntsman Prime 4/4
Crossbow Prime 4/4
Hunchback IIC 4/4

IS conceeded after 7 turns.  Last 4 mechs would not have survived the remaining clan mechs.  Lost 3 mechs in 1 turn on turn 3 didn't help them.

IS losses:
Stinger - legged then AC20 hit
Wasp - ER PPC hits from range
Shadow Hawk - Gauss hit to head
Spider Gwen - sandblasted to death from SRM fire, nut the opponent did not expect the movement profile at first.

Clan losses:
Huntsman - 3 med laser head hits.

By turn 8, the IS forces were badly battered, with only the Rifleman not suffering any serious damage, the Phoenix Hawk presumably not goimg to be surviving the next turn, having its right arm and torso shot off, and losing most of its maneuverability.  The Crushammer Nova having lost its right Torso also.  The Vindicator had taken a few hits and armor was getting thin.

The clans meanwhile had a heavily damaged Hunchback IIc, and Ebon Jaguar, while the Crossbow and Warhammer IIC did not take any real serious damage.

I did enjoy playing the Crushammer Nova, worked as well as I expected, constant movement and firing off 5 med lasers, to keep heat down, only fired the larges once at the start of the game.  Dice were mostly cooperative, just that with all the hills, I had to keep jumping to deal with the turtle tactics of the clan player.

Overall, pretty fun!

You know Luciora, Berkeley is about half way between Kerfuffin and me.  Now that you’re back in the saddle, maybe we should schedule something in the next couple months!  Glad you got a game in!

Hmmm.

Only a 8/5 advantage w/ Intro Tech & a pair of them were Bugs?
And only a 35 ton total advantage in tonnage?

Doesn't seem even remotely fair to the IS player.
I'm shocked it took 7 turns to concede.

Should have been an entire 3rd lance for the IS side or at least replace the bugs w/ medium/heavy mechs.

The Clan player certainly had more advantages.  He even got to choose the maps.  Like I said, I was mainly playing just to refresh my memory of the game and to see what it was like playing an actual IS vs Clan game before the IS had the tech to start to compete.  He actually was a bit surprised at how fast I was moving up with the bug mechs and I wasn't exactly pushing the heat scales on my mechs either. He was definitely a turtle player though, and I knew I had to push forward to try and make him move.  His dice hated initiative, but when he needed them to hit, they hit
