"Light Trooper" and Police 'Mechs ?
« on: 02 September 2013, 05:30:09 »
for want of worthier words, are there any "Light Trooper" 'Mechs that might be employed by police ?  Something somewhat similar to (say) the mini-walker w/in Robocop, the ED-209 ?

their rules (not mine) = "everybody dies, and from death, some are selected to slavery"

foolish farmers fooled forth from farms, to the field, at (e.g.) Marathon, where many men met determined doom, and all others, identified, were ever after relentlessly pursued & hunted down, themselves, their families, their blood, per policy of "pasture-ization", by (e.g.) oath-sworn Hannibal, patiently, for prolonged protracted periods, to present -- those have been being The Rules, for many millennia

honor is politics... right ?

There's a range of designated SecurityMechs, though most of them are IndustrialMechs. The Copper from TRO:VA springs to mind, and in its entry the Capellan 15-ton quad Guard with twin MGs is mentioned for the same role.
Apocryphally, there's also the Guardian.

The ED-209 would be an unmanned BA, not a mech. Don't remember of there are rules for that, thought... :-\

There's also the:

-- PT-2 Patron MilitiaMech from XTRO: RetroTech
-- PT-2M Patron PatrolMech from TRO: Prototypes
-- ARB-001 Arbiter SecurityMech from XTRO: Corporations
-- MN2-A Sarissa SecurityMech from TRO: Prototypes
-- RCM-21A Deep Lord MilitiaMech from TRO: Prototypes

Hope this helps.

And also the security robot from the original Mechwarrior ed1 RPG.
Their is no problem Jump Jets and an assault class auto-cannon can't handle.

plenty of police 'Mechs (my reference to Robocop was simply for sake of some sort of semi-appropriate picture)

PP completely cover the concept

I should have mentioned the Marshall in my list.  Although it's a true battlemech, it's fielded by a force (the Colonial Marshalls) that has the flavor of a frontier police force.  And it fills a role (running off bandit kings) that some of the other mechs (like the Arbiter and Deep Lord) in the list perform.

solely for sake of leading-letter alliteration, which way of wielding words i personally prefer, as promoting poetry and sonorous sounds in the style of Saxon skalds of yester-years, maybe the Marshall is more a "militia 'Mech", not normally put on patrol, in city settings ?

Even though it actually does fit as a militia mech it is fluffed as a Colonial Marshal's mech.  Hence, law enforcement mech.
Light 'mech pilots benefit from big balls and small brains.
