If you have a mech with Improved Targeting (Long), how does this interact with a C3 network? If it is using a C3 network to, say, fire at a target from a lancemate that is within Close range, while it itself is at Long Range, does it get the benefit?
E.g., A [custom mech] with this quirk, a C3 Slave and a Gauss Rifle is 20 hexes from the target mech (Long range). A lancemate with a C3 Slave in the same network is at 5 hexes from the target (Short range). Does the [Custom mech] get the benefit from Improved Targeting (Long), because it is actually at Long range, or is it treated as Short range, because of the C3 Network?
Corollory, if it does count as short range, would the [custom mech] benefit from Improved Targeting (Short)?
(I am trying to work out what quirk to assign to a custom designed explictly for long-range fire support in a C3 network, and thus which would have been the obvious choice for its intended role.)
