Anyway what about this? The ultimate scout, that ensures its survival against most threat anyways. And sure, it's definitely NOT a charger.

If you want more standard one then what about this? I do think that the initial 'scout' model is ridiculous, although it would do its duty at least. Yes it lacks long ranged attacks but with jump speed of 5 will make up the problem. Since you are stuck at standard 400 fusion engine you don't have much other choice either.

I imagined a giant Swayback.  Has just enough heatsinks so the pilot can duel at range, or brawl at close range by dropping the ER Large.  Could even refit it with iATMs.  6 tons of ammo to get a decent amount of shots and ammo types in.

So I was inspired to make a visual recognition match to an Atlas.  The initial D, tweaked for racing up to opponents in the solaris arena, loses the signature Atlas fast firing LRM5 for a standard 5 rack.  Also, the rounds being fired out of the autocannon port are from a machine gun switched to rapid fire mode, great for making a lot of noise and smoke but not great at dealing damage.  I foresee a solaris stable randomly switching in the 'fastlas' for a regular atlas to trick duelists who think they can beat a slow atlas at range.

I've been sitting on this one for a while.

Designed to be added to heavy Mech Companies where its high speed and armor will make it a complement to mechs that have less durability but higher firepower.



Built by Miller Mechworks a industrial mech manufacturer located three jumps away from June in the Tentativa system.

When the Helm memory core restored so much of what had been lost many substandard Battlemechs were rotated in for much needed upgrades.

The Charger was one of these mechs and its upgrades invariably involved stripping out the engine for an XL model or a engine borrowed from the Victor or Awesome's parts bin.

The 52 ton engines languished in refit depots, then surplus yards and they finally made it to auction.

Bruce Miller snapped up as many of these engines as he could, collecting upwards of 2000 models before the supply dropped off.

His R&D teams began putting together what would become the Miller Militia Mech. Starting with the Endo-Steel tooling for an Atlas model that never went beyond the prototype stage, some easily sourced weaponry and Heavy Ferro Fibrous Armor that was considered only fit for light mechs and vehicles.

The final version dubbed the Miller Militia Mech was advertised and sold to planetary defense forces that needed something that was easy to maintain, pilot and deploy.

Initial orders were slow with surplus production being diverted to the Tentativa garrison to gather some real world testing data.

This all changed when a group of pirates hit one of the outlying communities near the capital. The scene of 12 of the Millers running down Assault Mechs that the pirates had made for excellent add copy.

Sales of the mech are brisk and the corporation is in negotiations to to purchase unused tooling for the LTV 400 from Luthien Armor Works. Something that would have been previously unthinkable but with the Clan threat making for a thawing of relations and the perceived lack of utility that the Charger Engine represents to the Draconis Combine  it is expected that the Miller Militia Mech will be built from all new components by the end of the decade.

The Charger was one of these mechs and its upgrades invariably involved stripping out the engine for an XL model or a engine borrowed from the Victor or Awesome's parts bin.

The 52 ton engines languished in refit depots, then surplus yards and they finally made it to auction.

Bruce Miller snapped up as many of these engines as he could, collecting upwards of 2000 models before the supply dropped off.

His R&D teams began putting together what would become the Miller Militia Mech. Starting with the Endo-Steel tooling for an Atlas model that never went beyond the prototype stage, some easily sourced weaponry and Heavy Ferro Fibrous Armor that was considered only fit for light mechs and vehicles.

The final version dubbed the Miller Militia Mech was advertised and sold to planetary defense forces that needed something that was easy to maintain, pilot and deploy.

Initial orders were slow with surplus production being diverted to the Tentativa garrison to gather some real world testing data.

This all changed when a group of pirates hit one of the outlying communities near the capital. The scene of 12 of the Millers running down Assault Mechs that the pirates had made for excellent add copy.

Sales of the mech are brisk and the corporation is in negotiations to to purchase unused tooling for the LTV 400 from Luthien Armor Works. Something that would have been previously unthinkable but with the Clan threat making for a thawing of relations and the perceived lack of utility that the Charger Engine represents to the Draconis Combine  it is expected that the Miller Militia Mech will be built from all new components by the end of the decade.

thing is, I like it, I would even USE it.  it has flaws, but they're not insurmountable, and it's not a world eater, but it's still relatively good.

It has a total of zero free critical spaces available.

It is about as optimized as you can get.

You know for a mech with only 20 tons of equipment.

I made a mistake and put the CT lasers in the arm for some reason.

It was important for me to keep the arms free to make the mech more punchy.

And how many times did the hero of our story rescue someone by picking them up with a Stalker.

You may use any construction or tech base you desire, provided you build it around a 400 Standard fusion engine, and it isn't a Charger.

Lots of 100-tonners, but I really wanted an 80-tonner.

This one might break the rules a little, but I started with the IIC 2 inspired by making an Awesome a serious threat if it were to charge, and got back towards the original with the IIC (standard)...
