So I'm looking at getting a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable for my LPs.  The only question is what speakers to go with.  I've been eying several bookshelf speakers and am willing to pay around $300-400 for them.  I've been trying to go around to audio shops to take a listen, but talking with some friends who do audio work for a living, I've narrowed down to a few brands.  So far the brands and models are:

Klipsch B-20
Polk RTI A1
Definitive StudioMonitor 350

Part of the problem is that I need to listen to these personally to get a better idea, but unfortunately that may not always be possible.  I've been reading on various fora and it seems people really like the Polk, but the more expensive Definitive is available for half price in some places; yet, I'm also reading an amplifier may be necessary for the latter.

I'm a bit lost here.  Does anyone have any advice?
