I'm still not convinced our new guest isn't the same critter about to come/is coming/has already come through the portal. The odds are admittedly dropping, but it still seems like the kind of thing this story would doing.

from the looks of things, it is of the same type as the multi-dimensional critter that is on the way to time-locked mechanicsburg.

Violetta's disappearance was far too tidy to be real death, but I can't believe I hadn't guessed that she was the sacrifice.

I thought it was a cunning plan to lure and sacrifice Agatha herself.
