CBT at Game HQ OKC: Total Chaos AAR
« on: 15 December 2014, 00:26:53 »
We are playing through Total Chaos at Game HQ in Oklahoma City, OK. These are our stories..

Look Who's Coming To Dinner:

Journal Entry from surviving Hetzer crew member:

This job for Kallon industries was supposed to be our stepping stone to bigger and better things. We were ending our six month rotation on Keid. I am not sure what specifically was in the warehouses we were guarding, and did not want to know. But it is all nearly gone now, with most of our unit.

It was a sunny day despite it being pretty cold. There had been talk of a winter storm system possibly coming through the area. We had a small amount of precipitation over night, but not the blizzard conditions that weather models had suggest. So, nothing out of the usual was going on. Then the situation deteriorated.

We started getting contacts from the south. At first it was just a single blip on the radar, then two, five, and then the next thing we know there were eight contacts. A full two lances of mechs. We had infantry spotters on the treeline south of base conducting normal patrols. Our fire support assets were set back a few hundred meters with our large elements dug in.

The first target to present itself was a Cicada. It was black with yellow and red stripes. Spotters tagged it and we unleashed hell. From the looks of it, we rocked him pretty good. Our Savannah Masters and Pegasus moved out to make initial contact with the rest of the enemy forces. Our Hetzer was near the back of the base. We were watching the right side. A Spider appeared out of nowhere, along with two Treb's. At first they ignored us  and we tried to get some shots off. But their speed was too much for us. The remains forces that appeared on our left side were a Cataphract, Hunchback, and something that looked like a bloated guppy on stilts.

The intruders were making short work of the warehouses. They did not seem to be looking for any particular structure. Which ever one was closest, fire was concentrated on. Our hover crews were disabled very quickly. The crews survived, but they had to abandon ship. Our Rommel got some shots off on the Nightsky and Spider as they took our left flank. The Rommel nearly took the arm off the Nightsky and put it on the ground momentarily. Me and the rest of the crew in the  Hetzer kept firing at the Spider, but it was too dang fast. Our LRM crews kept a constant barrage of missiles in the air and were able relieve the Spider of his left legs. As the small mech hit the ground, it's right leg gave way too. Our Behemoth tank had been dug in, a wooded area. As one of the Treb's walked by it unleashed and was able to hit the ammo. The pilot rode a pillar of fire into the sky. But just as quickly as we thought the tide was turning, the other Treb triggered the ammo in the Behemoth and blew it sky high. We lost some good men in that tank. But I did owe one of the crew a fair amount from poker debt. Anyways, at this point only one of the ten warehouses remained. We had lost all four hovercrafts, our Behmoth, and both Lrm carriers. We gathered our survivors, and retreated. Needless to say, this is probably our first and last job with Kallon Industries. I hope we can scrape together enough C-bills to get off planet.

After a break for months, we have resumed out Total Chaos Campaign.

Golden Goose

Outside Weihaiwei
Tsingtao, Capellan Confederation

28 June 3068.

The warm June air now hangs heavy with smoke and oil. Fires rage where the rubble of Shu-Lin networking now lies. Eye witnesses said the hostile force that attacked the complex obstaned from firing at it. But later destroyed it. The Frank's Fanatics mercenary unit was on retainer by Shu-Lin but were decimated. The Weihaiwei Milita arrive on scene after the battle began but suffered a similar fate. There seems to be an increase of military actions within Capellan holdings. It is hard to say if they are isolated incidents or the beginning of a larger regional conflict.

We restarted the campaign with the units they had last, including a Sha Yu they salvaged from previous games. The player mercs got into position early and was able to use ECM to spread up the scanning process.  During this time, the Sha Yu was put down and the defender lost a Cicada. Local militia showed up in turn 5 but were not much of a factor. They quickly lost their srm carrier. They did manage to crit the gyro on a golden bb to a attacking sentinel. Soon after they razed Shu-Lin facility. The milita wolfhound succumbed to focused fire after coming out of a shutdown. The remaining cicada was able to get off a few shots before leaving the field of battle. A defending merc assain was able to limp off the field. The lone defending cylops stood his ground. The cyclops was finished off by an ammo crit that chewed through what the mercs had not.

I am working on filling in the back log of AAR's from our Total Chaos Campaign. I will fill in the details the best I can.

FULL METAL PRESS
SITUATION
COLMAR MYOMICS SCRAP FACILITY HH-2, TRACHEN PLAINS
MINNACORA, CAPELLAN CONFEDERATION
7 JULY 3068

The mercenaries were subcontracted to guard a Colmar Myomics scrap facility. It should have been a cake walk but the Twentieth Avalon Husars arrived. But the mercs were once again victorious. Despite being caught in the crossfire of AFFS and CCAF forces, they were able to drive off the attackers and defend the majority of the buildings. After a few months of training, repair and refit, the mercs are headed to the Draconis Combine for their next mission.

GRAVEYARD SHIFT
SITUATION
INBOUND VECTOR, BENJAMIN
BENJAMIN MILITARY DISTRICT, DRACONIS COMBINE
2 DECEMBER 3068

The mercs have a new contract with the Federated Suns, after being bought out of their old contract. It appears to be some sort of reprisal raid. They will have AFFS  units in support. They attacked the Benjamin Military District. They were supported by some veteran Fedsun units. There was heavy damage to buildings and infrastructure. Including an Atlas collapsing a building. Despite the merc’s best efforts, the 6th Ghost Regiment defended the BMD and repelled the merc / Fed Sun invaders.

Strike (Galedon)
Galedon V, Draconis Combine
17 April, 3069

Fresh off hitting the Davion supply cache, the Mercs decide it was time to finish their contract by hitting the Davion hq. Soon, they could be off this rock.

The mercs have closed out their contact on Galedon. They took some damage but were able to locate and destroy the enemy hq, and bloody the Davion force before it left planet. This is the end of their contract on Galedon.

BULLET IN THE BLUE SKY
SITUATION
RUINS OF LAW CITY, TOKYO ISLAND
LUTHIEN, DRACONIS COMBINE
18 JULY 3069

This will take place in a heavy industrial setting. The mercs had a rough go of it at the first part of the battle, taking what seemed like a lot of damage. The First Genyosha and Word of Blake Militia battled the mercs and Second Sword of Light for control of the ruins OF LAW CITY, TOKYO ISLAND on Luthien. The WoB Milita suffered heavy loses. Some merc units were damaged but they were mostly flesh wounds. Their resolve held and they completed the main objectives.

Panic and Pain
THE BURRENS, ALGONQUIN ISLAND
AN TING, DRACONIS COMBINE
23 APRIL 3070
The players used all the options so there were 40 civilian vehicles to stop, plus a lance of militia mechs.
Track Cost: 1,100
Options
+500 Human Flood
+500 The Dragon is Watching
+300 Kittens With Claws
The mercenaries try to keep quarantined civilians from fleeing a containment area. The tricky part is they are using battlemechs and are under strict orders to keep casualties to a minimum. The civilians will be trying escape via various vehicles. The more that are stopped without being destroyed the better the pay day.

The mercs worked valiantly to turn back the plague victims. There were minimum casualties as a result. One merc pilot was lost in a pitched battled with local militia. It was a difficult mission but the pay was good. After the mission it was a great time to repair, refit and train while figuring out their next job. The commanders have some guilt for having to take up arms against civilians, but a pay check is a pay check right now.

GRIM DEATH
SITUATION
INBOUND, PIRATE POINT K-E7
SHERATAN, CHAOS MARCH
29 NOVEMBER 3070

The mercs fought hard against the Grim Determination. But their opponents lived up to their name and put up a stout fight. Two mechs were forced to withdraw early in the battle. Shortly after a Valkyrie was destroyed by enemy fire. The remaining merc Thunderbolt left the mission area.
As the mercs conducted their AAR of the failed mission, they listened to holovids of the in-system news. The new reports on Sheraton said that the Grim Determination had been destroyed. This was odd since the mercs had to withdraw from the battlefield.  A message came in over comms. When they took this mission, they were under the impression they were working for the AFFS. They had been working for the Word of Blake. When the Grim Determination fell, so did the last resistance to the Word of Blake taking the planet.

SAVAGE SILENCE
SITUATION
NADIR JUMP POINT
CHAMDO, CAPELLAN CONFEDERATION
20 FEBRUARY 3071

The mercs annihilated the WoB acolytes and mercenaries. They fought hard but their skills were not up to snuff to take on the merc coalition.   The coalition units took a little bit of damage, but did not lose a mech.  The mercs cored a mercury and head capped a venom. The hussar and raven both went out on engine hits. The hussar did itself in falling repeatedly while trying to get up with hip damage. It was a sad yet comical sight. Well, on to the next one.

Beachhead Solaris VII (Generic Track Used as a Filler, So the date of the events are not official)
BORDER OF THE INTERNATIONAL ZONE
SOLARIS VII, LYRAN ALLIANCE
1 MAY 3071

The mercs made first contact with the Wobbies 25th Division as they landed on Solaris 7.  The merc's commander was killed in action from a WoB gauss round to the head of his swayback. The fighting was fierce and the the shootist that had taken the merc's life was later destroyed. The gauss variant demolisher was also destroyed. A flashman that had been sniping for the duration of the battle was able to retreat, leaving the spoils of war to the mercs. The salvage was good but the cost of losing the commander will weigh heavily on them.

Nacht Blitz
LONG-TERM STORAGE FACILITIES, INTERNATIONAL ZONE
SOLARIS VII, LYRAN ALLIANCE
17 AUGUST 3071

The mercs were not able to keep the WoB forces from causing considerable damage in the storage facilities. The WoB units mostly ignored the defending force and methodically destroyed as many of the buildings as they could. Most of the units that were stopped were salvageable. The mercs got away with only armor damage and salvage a few WoB units. One enemy Shootist did get away. The Legacy was cored and nothing useable was left.
