Title: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 02 July 2014, 01:52:04
(http://www.sarna.net/wiki/images/0/02/LawyersGunsandMoney.jpg)

For anyone interested in a table top game in central OKC, I have spoken with the guys running Games HQ at 89th & Penn and will be offering a bit of a Summer scenario set.  After looking closely, I noticed all the first scenario's mechs are in the Intro Box Set so it will nicely demo the product though I will not be painting the mechs up too much- just a base coat on one side to separate them visually.  I will be bringing some of my better painted minis for looks.

I know July 10th is a Thursday but with my work schedule it is my 'weekend' which lets me play late along with anyone who wants to do so.  Each side will have 8 mechs, I will provide the variant sheets (thanks Kinkos, lol) along with the board, movement dice and of course everything in the Intro Box!  Depending on how many folks show it could break down into a player controlling a element pair . . . or if just a single person, the whole force.

Life is stabilizing, I want to get out and play more while I can since the wife supports my playing.  Come out and join me, if anyone is interested please post here or send me PMs.

Thanks!

I think I can make it. What time are you wanting to start? I normally get off at 5pm and it takes a bit to get down there. I could try to leave earlier, giving time for the tacos next door too. I have one other player who may be able to show up off hand.

Let me know what mechs are on the side I would be playing and I see what painted stuff I can field. I also have tons of heroscape, and half a hotz mat I could bring.

The first scenario, oddly enough considering the time between when it was written and the Intro Box, can be filled using mechs from the box.  I was going to prime one side and leave the other untouched from the Intro Box making it easily visually different.  Other scenarios have a different mix of mechs, some of which I do not know if I have so we could see if we can get anything close.  I know I was going to bring some of my better painted minis (meaning painted by others, lol) for visual effect- besides playing I of course want to see if anyone is attracted.  I will have the sheets and bring additional dice, but of course some folks may want to bring their lucky dice.

I was considering a start time as close to 1800 as possible, I will show up before hand to set up so we are ready when people arrive.  Besides the Tacos that have been mentioned in other threads there are a few good places to eat in that strip (love the Thai place) and they put in a big On Cue at the corner for drinks.  If both sides are still in play (forced withdraw rules are in effect) before we knock off, I will record the locations and we could finish up another time.

This is the force list for the 1st scenario-

ATTACKER
The attacker consists of elements from Redfield’s Renegades.
Redfield’s Renegades
XO Command Lance, Mustafa’s Marauders
Major Clyde Mustafa (Piloting 3, Gunnery 3), Cyclops CP-10-Z

MechWarrior Shani Rand (Piloting 2, Gunnery 3), Grasshopper GHR-5H
MechWarrior Curtis Jenkins (Piloting 4, Gunnery 2), Hunchback HBK-4G
Fire Support Lance, Miguel’s Archers
Lieutenant Miguel Ramirez (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Catapult CPLT-C1
MechWarrior Andrea Hallock (Piloting 4, Gunnery 4), Whitworth WTH-1
MechWarrior Adam Fike (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Trebuchet TBT-5N
MechWarrior Farid Jajou (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Dervish DV-6M

DEFENDER
The defenders consist of elements from the Lone Star Battalion.
Lone Star Battalion
Assault Lance, Vagnozzi’s Vanguard
Ranger-Captain Steve Vagnozzi (Piloting 3, Gunnery 3), Atlas AS7-D
MechWarrior Carl Porter (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Awesome AWS-8Q
MechWarrior Bill Underhill (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Banshee BNC-3E
MechWarrior Melissa Lopez (Piloting 2, Gunnery 3), Dragon DRG-1N
Strike Lance, Davis’s Desperadoes
Deputy James Davis (Piloting 3, Gunnery 3), Assassin ASN-21
MechWarrior Kasha Lowe (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Enforcer ENF-4R

Sounds good. Which side do you want to play? I will bring mini's for my side.

I planned on letting those who wanted to play picked, primed one side white and the other is still the box-issue gray.  Finally dug out my metal and started re-doing the list of what I have on hand.  The some of the older Ral Patha stuff I had forgotten about (Centurion!) though a lot was purchased for a ComGuard unit circa Tukayyid to FCCW.  Scenarios 2, 3, & 4 are the ones I really do not have the minis for . . . because about 60% of what I have is Clan.

I can fill some of those gaps. I would like to use my own mini's for what I play. I think my friend Chris plans to attend as well.

Sure, I was just going to try to keep it easy to visually separate the sides.  I primer'd the Lone Star side and I have some of them as metal minis- thought about bringing them to supplement the plastics.

I am painting up the two lances for the Redfield's. I will just set them up in my stuff as a ready made merc unit.

I should be there by 5 Thursday. I am going to take off work a bit early due to the traffic getting down there. Ive nearly got the two lances of Redfield mech completed.

I will let the pictures post before I give a run down, but we finished the first scenario tonight- 16 mechs went into the battle and just 9 survived it.  Btw faithless, I did not look closely enough the Emperor is in archive!  Let me know how many you might want, we could split the archive cost in August?

I am thinking 2 as well, which splits that $8 fee nicely.  You might check with the folks in Lawton if you are playing down there before we order.

Are they going to have them at gencon? If so, I know someone going that could pick them up without a archive fee and shipping.

For those interested, the survivors were-

Lone Star
Atlas- barely scratched, biggest problem was going through the ammo . . . maybe Ranger-Captain Steve Vagnozzi should get the AC specialist skill.
Awesome-  More armor damage than the Atlas, wet ankles let the PPCs fly
Enforcer 4R-  Missing armor on one side and a few shots of AC/10 left, it ripped into anything going left quite a bit.
Banshee-  Left torso missing, armor in tatters, but the PPC still popped off
Assassin- the ambushed mech starting on its but, it managed to retreat off the map after being forced

Redfields
Dervish-  Shot pretty well, rode the heat curve, armor dinged up
Whitworth- torso pretty well open but survived crit rolls
Treb- lost a leg, Lone Star salvage

Everything else either died from ammo explosions or CT death but the Hunchback, it lost its leg and gyro.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ July 10th- Lawyers, Guns & Money
Post by: Colt Ward on 02 August 2014, 23:19:22
So . . . August 7th, Scenario #2-

Redfield’s Renegades
Command Lance, Redfield’s Raiders
Colonel Sarah Redfield-Barnes (Piloting 3, Gunnery 2), Battlemaster BLR-3M
Lieutenant Robert Diaz (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Awesome AWS-9M
MechWarrior Jeff Bowen (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Axman AXM-1N
MechWarrior Stephanie Amos (Piloting 3, Gunnery 2), Archer ARC-5R

Recon Lance, Gessert’s Grenadiers
Sergeant Ann Gessert (Piloting 3, Gunnery 2), Phoenix Hawk PXH-3K
MechWarrior C.C. DiPonio (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Wolfhound WLF-1
MechWarrior Rachael Chirenko (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Jackal JA-KL-1532
MechWarrior Howell Bertsch (Piloting 3, Gunnery 3), Locust LCT-3M

vs

Lone Star Battalion
Command Lance, The Colonel’s Own
Ranger-Colonel Brown (Piloting 2, Gunnery 2), Warhammer WHM-7M
Ranger-Lieutenant Amy Ghastin (Piloting 3, Gunnery 3), Marauder MAD-5D
Ranger-Sergeant Caspar Mayfield (Piloting 3, Gunnery 2), Stalker STK-5S
MechWarrior Patrick Morganthayler (Piloting 3, Gunnery 3), Wolverine WVR-7K

Strike Lance, Jarvis’ Jokers
Ranger-Lieutenant Vernon Jarvis (Piloting 3, Gunnery 3), Hatchetman HCT-5S
MechWarrior Shaunda Berquist (Piloting 3, Gunnery 3), Phoenix Hawk PXH-3D
MechWarrior Bryan Fochs (Piloting 3, Gunnery 3), Griffin GRF-3M
MechWarrior Jasmine Howell (Piloting 4, Gunnery 3), Wasp WSP-1D

This one's map will be a bit touchy, one side fights through the other's base and there are phase lines.  Keep the same sides?

Post by: faithless on 03 August 2014, 17:03:34
That is fine. I will try to see how much of the map I can have pre-planned. I will see if Chris can make it. It would be great to get one more person to help run your side. I think it would speed things up some. I will have to sub a few figures on my side. I sold a few to a friend I could have used. It should not be a big issue. Let me know what you need for your side.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ July 10th- Lawyers, Guns & Money
Post by: Colt Ward on 03 August 2014, 22:00:05
I have a Warhammer, Marauder, Wolverine 8K to sub, can get a Hatchetman (which will be funny), sub a GRF IIC for the either the PXH (same weight), a Lineholder for the Griffin and . . . something box set for the Wasp probably if I do not have suitable . . . the only thing really outside what I have is the Stalker- none of my other assaults (Dire Wolf, Thug, Scylla, Warhammer IIC 4 or Supernova) even come close to looking like it.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ July 10th- Lawyers, Guns & Money
Post by: faithless on 04 August 2014, 10:22:07
I am pretty set for my side. I am using a hollander for the jackal. I have a griffin, stalker and a hatchetman you can use. I may use my other hatchet man to represent my axman. I sold the one I had not thinking. My other one I got used and in all kinds of pieces. So, it will require some mod work to put back together.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ July 10th- Lawyers, Guns & Money
Post by: faithless on 05 August 2014, 11:27:47
I have the map laid out minus buildings with the materials I had. I am using one heroscape for a level. I have 3 full sets of heroscape but the way that map it is uses all the smaller pieces.  So, I have two layers of that for the level 2, and then build walls that lay on top of that to represent the level 1 wall on top. Builds, I think we can just throw buildings out there the best we can and roll with it. I am building a second phoenix hawk for you to use if you want.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ July 10th- Lawyers, Guns & Money

I have not looked closely at it, I thought it was just a L2 berm around the base, instead it has a L1 wall as well?

Post by: faithless on 05 August 2014, 22:53:18
Yup. I made a wall. I painted it tonight. I also will have a phoenix hawk for you to use if you want. The buildings will not be exact but will be in the spirit of the map.

Sounds like a good idea, and I will be sorry to miss it.  What do you think about maybe doing a mini assembly or painting class in a month or two to help generate interest?  Everyone lets a mini dry and plays a few rounds afterward.  Your minis look very nice and I am sure I am not the only one that could pick up some tips.

For August 21st, lets make it simple. 6k bv2, 2 units per person. Pilot adjustment included in the bv. I will bring a few extra incase anyone wants to jump in.

Colt, do I need to let them know we are still coming on the 21st?

No, I never said I was going to be gone.  If you are willing, I am going to need that Marauder IIC pinned for the arms and legs . . . or it might be the 10 year old glue I am using, which I will check.  Also got the MAD-4X when it arrived yesterday . . . irony in getting another Marauder when they have all given me fits.

We usually try to start about 6ish. We had discussed 6k bv2, 2 units. For gunnery Colt was wanting to use gunslilnger rules. I am not familiar with those. So, I will have to let him describe that. If not that I say we just go with the pilot adjustment in the bv.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ July 10th- Lawyers, Guns & Money
Post by: John1780 on 26 August 2014, 12:03:48
I have a 6k BV force with pilots ready, but I can be flexible either way.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ July 10th- Lawyers, Guns & Money
Post by: Colt Ward on 28 August 2014, 00:26:26
The following is the table I was talking about, I am not sure if this is BV1 or BV2 but I think it is post BV2 release.  Part of why I think this is using BV2 is the date as well as the mech I remember most from the one time I saw this used- a Sagittaire- was a very green pilot, which fits the BV2 of the mech.  I would suggest perhaps 5k rather than 6k as skills will be a given.  When we arrive we can roll up the sides randomly to form a lance or so.

*edit* . . . after looking up the force I used before, perhaps 4k is a better idea as it would allow 2 good IS heavies under that bar.

Battle Value Gunnery Piloting
1–300 0 0
301–400 0 1
401–700 1 1
701–800 1 2
801–1,100 2 2
1,101–1,200 2 3
1,201–1,500 3 3
1,501–1,600 3 4
1,601–1,900 4 4
1,901–2,000 4 5
2,001–2,300 5 5
2,301–2,400 5 6
2,401–2,700 6 6

I prefer the higher bv2 amount with pilot adjustment included, since that is the way most games are ran. But I will give it a try.

Can you edit the thread title, or does an admin have to do it? We should probably remove July from it, since the game nights are on-going.

https://plus.google.com/+BillyCaldwell/posts/8Rw8mZUTZAJ (https://plus.google.com/+BillyCaldwell/posts/8Rw8mZUTZAJ)

Pics are at the link above.

The small pillars were level 3 and the tall level 5. The rough looking hexes were -1 level sink holes. All the water was -1 level. The trees were a mix of light and heavy woods.

I started with a Blackjack-0 B and Avatar -0 C. First round of fire my Blackjack took 25 points from the Royal Sentinel and PPC carrying Cicada. Soon, I had a Marauder and Hunchback slagging me pretty good. Then the Phantom (played by the jenner iic)  joined in. All game I was winning initiative with 10+ rolls, but then missing weapons rolls. I struck up a deal with John and we went after the other guys. By the end I had killed the Sentinel on engine hits and then lost my Avatar from the same, after surviving an early ulac ammo explosion.

Lol . . . no, I kept threatening with it, but you always seemed to move after I did so I kept the sledgehammer toting soap bubble away from the C3 net.  Only got in one good salvo . . . which was funny enough that it encouraged the Sentinel & Cicada to go elsewhere.

Little Shop of Games on 50th and Shartel said we can play on Sundays at their shop. They are open 1-6. I will just need to give them a heads up as a courtesy. This may be a way for us north side people to grab an extra game a month without driving to the south side.

After the game this week we can all discuss what is next.

Now to figure out transporting it.

We had a great game last night with 5 player in attendance. We played mission 3 from Lawyers, Guns and Money. The Redfield Renegades had to kill the two lance commanders from Lone Star Battalion. Lone Star Battalion could not retreat off their home edge until turn 10. Lone Star Battalion was able to get one of the two lance commanders off the board (The scorpion) and most of the rest of the unit. The other commander in a hatchetman died in turn 11. It was blown out of the air while attempting a death from above. A jenner went out mid game with forced withdrawl.  Four Redfield mechs were destroyed: a panther, a wasp, falcon hawk and a shadowhawk.

Lonestar - Pyrrhic Victory . . . . . . . .Destroy 4 or more Renegade Mechs, while losing no more than 4 Lone Star Mechs.

Refield - Pyrrhic Victory . . . . . . . .Destroy either the Lone Star XOs Mech or the Pursuit Lance Deputys Mech.
no more than 4 Lone Star Mechs.

Pics are here. I was lazy...

Thursday the 2nd of October is our final game of the Lawyer, Guns and Money scenario. I am not able to head down as early as usual tomorrow, but should be down there by 5:30 or so traffic permitting.

The map is another difficult build. This time I will just throw something together the best I can when I get there. I don't believe the map was ever meant to be 3d. With the deep canyons and the oversized figures some would not even fit in the single hex wide canyons.

I seen that I needed a Goliath for my side so that was a good excuse to get mine at least built.

Combined Arms?
IS, Clan or Dark Age limitations?
BV? Number of units limit?
Pick teams before?
Deck of cards for init?
Skill level limit?
Objectives?

Goliath went out on an ammo explosion
Tempest died on a head shot
Ostol died on a kicked from a level above on the ams ammo bin
Guillotine survived but was missing the er large.
Longbow had an engine and gyro hit
Lineholder had I think an engine and gyro hit
Griffin cannot remember
Lynx cannot remember

I would do just about any era. I don't really want to do intro tech though. I am ok with doing all I.S. the next game with combined arms an option. I would like if anyone brings in advance tech that they are familiar with the rules ahead of time to keep things moving or have a cheat sheet ready.

We discussed using the stores terrain and playing hex-less next time so we could have a bit larger battlefield.

Maybe some sort of objective as you had suggested.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 03 October 2014, 00:34:10
Not a huge 3025 fan either, but if someone wants to represent the TC and field a bunch of it I am not going to say anything either.  One other twist if we did not do card deck initiative would be using commanders- do not disclose which unit it would be though each team gets to pick one- and get a +1 or +2 to the initiative rolls as long as they are operational.

Going to put emphasis on combined arms (must bring at least one other unit type than mech) or let folks who want go pure mech?  Force mixes of course vary by mission objective.

Couple of objectives that come to mind-

Find the base or scan it- probe questions
Kill the HQ- put your mission infantry (or extras, like Proto of BA) into the HQ entrance

Kill the MFB- blow up the opposing MFBs

Grab and Go- air dropped munitions/supplies/parts ended up in the middle of the battlefield, use mechs with hands to pick up each 5t crate and get it back to your side (can it be loaded in APCs by mechs?)  Victory conditions would have to be balanced out by not losing units.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 03 October 2014, 09:02:08
I would say, people can bring 3025 tech if they want. I just do not want to be limited too it. I do not want to force anyone to do combined arms, but simply have the option there if they want to. I like the commander idea. I have done that in a game or two.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 03 October 2014, 11:13:30
I can go with whatever, I am just tossing out ideas for others.  Other thing I am wondering, are we going to have 3 or 5 again?  It would be good to get their opinions thrown in as well as maybe set the teams before we get to the store.

We could also take a page from sort of from the MWDA set up, where each player picks two terrain bits.  Each team then picks one to be discarded, flip a coin or roll- winning team either gets to start setting the terrain or pick their edge of the battlefield after the terrain is set.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 03 October 2014, 11:36:01
Forgive me, I penned a novel... lol

I don't know on turnout, hopefully 4 or we will have to cut back the size of the game. For 2 players on each side, I would say a total of 10k bv with no more than a company on each side. With 4 people maybe we each bring 5k and we roll to see what teams are.

How about we list out any tac ops stuff we want to use before the match too. I would say just a few optional rules that we use each time. Things like turning off the gauss, etc.  Along with the initiative bonus for a commander on each side.

I can make lid bunkers for the game. They would be pretty easy to do and a good excuse for me to do it. I could make like 6 for each side. You can scan with bap or by standing adjacent without firing. They can be spread out. To make it where the teams are not camping the known target bunkers, after you scan you roll 2d6 6 or 7+ determines if it was the target. If an enemy is adjacent to the scanning unit, it blocks the scan. Three of the 6 could have stuff.  You could get lucky and find them the first 3 or the dice could hose you and it could be the last 3. So, you mentioned a CTF feel. We could make the scanning unit have to get back to a save zone. If the unit is disabled or dies a friendly unit could then bap or scan adjacent to download the data. Ive got plenty of neat tokens we can use to represent this.

Winner could be decided like this:

8 turns highest VP wins (Historically I think 8 turns is doable in the time we have on a Thursday night if we have 2 people per side)
Scan structure and locate data 1 vp
..and bring it back to base - 2 vp
kill a mech - 2 vp
kill a vehicle or infantry squad - 1 vp
kill the opposing commander -  2vp (on top of the vp for the commanders unit)

I can make up a nice sheet to keep track of the game.

I was sort of hoping we could get the other players to respond here to craft the objectives where everyone knew.

Are you saying 10k a side total or 10k a player?
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: John1780 on 05 October 2014, 19:23:26
It really doesn't matter to me--CTF style sounds good. Call it 5-8k/person, scan the bunkers with Beagle, then protect the units bringing home the goods. Done deal.

When I wrote that all out I was thinking 10k total per team.I will have Chris look over what we discussed. I know he will want to pick his own mechs so he can use some of his figures. Phil I doubt will look at the thread and I cannot say for sure he will be there. But Phil is pretty flexible as long as it is fun.

Phil told me this morning he will be there Thursday. I will help him get a force together incase John cannot make it. Otherwise I think we can fit him in. Based on how previous games have went, I think more than 10k will just slow things down unless we put some sort of unit cap in place.

And what is CTF?

ctf = capture the flag

Phil can jump on which ever team wants to throw him some units. He will play whatever.

I'm just building my unit so it can operate on it's own, but would mesh well with whatever team I am paired up with.

A very spread out mix . . .

I ran Protos, stealth armor Pixiu, Clan Med BA, and a Legionnaire.  Brought a back up force I took over halfway through that had a Condor Upgrade, Asura BA, Centurion Omni, Yasha VTOL and Predator TD.

faithless had a LRM Carrier, Owens variant with Tag & BAP, Rifleman 3Cr with Precision ammo while his compatriot had a Royal Sentinel, Cataphract 3L and Raven.

End of the game had the Raven in tatters, not sure if it had any leg damage but it had engine?  The Rifleman had lost its ammo to a crit causing the pilot to KO @ PSR5.  The Owens took a hip crit on the leg that had been open since the Yasha's HPPC hit it the first turn of fire.  No LBX could touch it until it scanned and prepared to run- Condor missed it twice, the Predator missed it on 5s.  After that it could not stay standing while running back with the info.  The Royal Sentinel advanced on the Pixiu but decided to back up from the tank on L3 firing its Gauss Rifle with Stealth active.  After putting two gauss slugs into the Sentinel it avoided the Gauss but kept getting hit with the higher THN Tbolt5.  Clan Med BA dumped SRMs into it, stripping armor and the Gauss Rifle arm.  It got revenge by punting one of the troopers later as it was limping away.

The LRM Carrier got one kill, a 20 rack landed on a Satyr trying to scan- it was all into the torso, so a pile of parts with strawberry jam.  The three Roc 3 managed to pound the Raven and nearly kill the LRM Carrier.  Legionnaire jammed its RAC/5 on a TH of 5 rolling a 3 . . . unjammed the next turn.

I also had 2 points of cavalier laser battlearmor.

Team 1 had 4 vp
1 scan - 1 vp
2 returned intel - 2vp
1 kill (proto) 1vp

Team 2 had 0vp, but if we could have went more than the 8 turns advertised stuff on both sides may have went down.

Hexless looks fantastic, but I think we all agreed that hexed was much quicker to play.

Colt..

On the other thread you were talking about terrain for the new house. I would try to go 1.75in hexes. That has become the norm here in state. I know two demo agents and myself all use that size. That would allow for some overlap on terrain. Also, I just like the extra room for the mini's and staking things like infantry and tanks.

One idea i had was to get a cheap hollow core door from habitat and sketch out the hexes on it and paint it. You could paint each side a different way. One could be city one could be country side with rivers.

I went by the new location of game hq. It is pretty nice. Lots more room. I talked to Brian about doing battletech on the Nov 1st possibly. He said the best time to come in is closer to opening time until 5-6pm. Then after that other gaming groups really start to come in on Saturday evenings.

I ran into Jake, the fellow that was watching us play the other night. He picked up a intro boxset. I told him again about this thread and to watch it for the next game we would be holding.

So, what sounds good for the next game, and would November 1st good for anyone? It being on a Saturday, I could see if a few of the Lawton people might be able to join too.

I currently am in possession of just about any scenario book you could think of, in book form. If you have a request I am sure I can find something.

I have been informed I have a dinner to attend, so if you wanted Calqless I could always hand off my sheet.

Maybe we need to organize a grinder at the beginning of the year as a official store out reach event?

Amanharan is the agent for OKC. I will leave the grinders up to him but it probably would not hurt with all the new interest lately. He was the guy at soonercon running the TW grinder. He will be at the tournament as well.

Thanks to Mike, Chris and Patrick for the game yesterday. I think we were all running late but got some dice rolling in.  Every time we play at Game HQ we find a new player. This time it was Patrick that joined us. If we keep this up, we will be running two games at a time. What a fantastic problem to have.

We played a mission where my team had to escort a mash unit to the other end of the map using only valid roads. The mash unit has some patients onboard and could only use cruising speed. The mash unit could be captured by an enemy unit standing adjacent and not firing for one turn. If they survived they captured it. The game came down to the last turn with the  mash unit one hex from the map edge. If I had lost initiative we won, but despite not being able to win it for most of the game I did then. I will post an AAR and pics when I have time this week.

We were bsing after the tournament yesterday and Worthless asked if we would like to run through Chaos Campaign. I volunteered to run Opfors and we would need some people for the player group. Worthless had some other ideas that will let him expand on. I just wanted to get this out there for discussion before I forgot.

Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff

What I was thinking was a cabal of small merc units, with each player having four slots (one 'mech, aerospace, or BA, or two conventional units) appropriate for D-rated units. With each player having their own force, it basically allows them to build towards their preferred tactics without worrying about being destroyed in a session they are unable to make.

One or two scenarios had dates changed for when they plug into the campaign, a few new scenarios added, and the generic scenarios to give extra options on where to go with the whole thing.

Worthless and Redbeard are playing on the player character side and have the starting units turned in. Calqless said he is interested as well. I am playing opfor and have a message out to Viper to see if he would like to help me with playing out opfors. It will be something different each time and generated from what the scenario calls for. Dave said if he is ever up here hanging out he would help me with opfor as well.

Post by: faithless on 10 December 2014, 11:15:16
A pool of players is a good thing. Worthless had mentioned to me, the PC force thet day of the game will be based off who is there and then opfor built off that depending on the stipulations of the track. However if you are not there, your units will not be used, so they will not get shot out from under you in your absence.

Curious question:  Has GHQ moved yet?  If so, to where?  I'll be passing through on my way to Clinton (and back) from DFW and was going to swing buy and see if some of the newer miniature releases were out either next weekend or right before Christmas when we head back.

One block east Ross to Western & 89th.  It is a nice new store.  They had the lance packs and from what I have seen they generally get a trickle of the newest minis in- maybe more since we have had more players for the games.

What time are you guys doing the Chaos game this Saturday?
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff

I am not sure if we are doing starting that this weekend. I worked on my opfor for the first mission last night, so I am game if the PCs are.

GHQ has been having all the new releases, but people have been buying them. They had the new lance packs as Colt mentioned. The new stuff I seen last weekend was the Doloire, Lament, Cardinal vtol, Ts Zong (sp? 2 gauss etc), there were a few others. I bought the Vulpes they had awhile back.

I start that schedule on the 9th, it would probably be a week or two after that I would see about something- I want to get my mini work area set up, and build some of the ones I just got over the last few weeks.

Toyama
Primitive TBolt (first TBolt ever)
Gallowglas
Emperor
Rabid Coyotes
Griffin 6S

Might consider doing a JF vs FC/LC scenario unless you had other mechs you wanted to play with . . .

We had a pretty good game Sunday. Due to everyone's schedules it looks like our games at GHQ will be on Sundays. We will post to details for our next game.

It was 12k adjust per side. John and Chris ran mercs with semi guided lrms and tag. I ran a Kurita unit with a c3 network and a few fast movers. There were a bunch of horrible rolls back and forth. My Jenner with a 4/5 pilot managed to kill an lrm carrier and a wounded archer. My avatar went unconscious and took a beating while down. The merc side had killed my grand dragon and and jenner by the final turn. Some indirect lrm fire went internal and cored the avatars engine to give the win to the mercs. It was a good game and I learned the value of c3. I had never used it but been on the receiving end of c3i missile spam before.

How often are ya'll planning to do games, I was introduced to Battletech during Soonercon. I bought the Introductory Box Set and the Total Warfare rule set so I have a basic knowledge of the game. However, I have not been able to find many people to play with consistently. Mostly some friends who have had a passing interest but nothing that really amounts to anything more than a 1v1 or 2v2.

Pretty much weekends

Went in today . . . picked up the TW they had there, so I finally have a copy.  They also had 3 of the first 4 Lance Packs at a reduced price as they were not shrink wrapped- not sure why, but they were there for about 40% off.  Good deal but I had the box set and two of them already- not Lyran so I do not need another Atlas!

Anyone free on Monday which is Memorial Day?  Or what about the 28th, a Thursday . . . I think things have calmed enough I can have fun that day off, lol.

I am free tomorrow (Thursday) but not the 28th. As for Monday, I am not sure yet. I could probably do a wednesday evening next week though.

Monday is looking better and better.

Tentative Players: Colt, John, me, and Dave.

If anyone wants to play Sunday I can likely do both days.

Evening on Monday?  and what sort of game?
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 22 May 2015, 11:15:34
We have another player joining us. Seth from the Lawton group is coming up.

Here is how I see it.

We meet there about noon to get setup.

Timeframe will be Falcon Incursion time frame. Late 3050's early 3060s. 6k Adjusted per person.

Falcons are attacking a generic planet. There will be two objectives.  1. Identify and capture a command bunker 2. destroy a water treatment plant.

I will jump in on the Falcons side, it is an excuse to use some painted stuff. The defenders can be house units or mercs and 25% can be hidden units on the defenders half of the map. For vehicles we will use the tac ops optional rules to make them a bit more durable.

Post by: Colt Ward on 22 May 2015, 20:04:55
Eh . . . the Falcons would not destroy infrastructure, lol.  How big a map area?

Adjusted- pilot skills included?
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 22 May 2015, 20:17:54
6k including pilots. Assume 4x6 for any games. It is basically 4 map sheets.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 22 May 2015, 21:55:18
It is what I thought for the pilots, I just wanted to check after the misunderstanding last time.

You using your mat?
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 22 May 2015, 22:43:21
Yup. My big mat with heroscape, trees, usual stuff. If you are worried about plotting hidden units, it is very easy. You just take a pic and mark the hex with an x.  I will have a couple sheets printed with the tac ops vehicle rules changes we are using and point blank shots for the hidden stuff.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 22 May 2015, 23:18:45
Nah, hidden I get . . . spreadsheet easy.  My problem will be the timing to be honest, I have a project to finish . . . as for the terrain I had something I might have wanted to use . . .

We going with urban, forest, mountain, or what?
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 22 May 2015, 23:27:09
A mixture of some hills, trees, and light urban.  A lake near the power plant.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 24 May 2015, 13:47:11
Still noon?  I am not sure I can show up before 1500 or 1600 . . . though that means I could be 'reinforcements' if one side has them on call, lol.

And surprisingly . . . I would not be a Falcon.  Seems we are going to keep shooting at each other.  How is the SoonerCon prep going?  The website does not list the storyline events, just bootcamp & grinder?
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 24 May 2015, 15:37:09
I will be there at noon and we will get started once we have enough to play and then roll in anyone else that comes later. Weather permitting there are two people driving up from Lawton. But with the flooding we will just have to see what happens.

I am helping the agent from Lawton with the storyline stuff. He is out of town, so I will have to see where we stand. I am pushing forward with prep on my stuff.

I am thinking of putting together a game for June 21st at GHQ. 1pm start time. We may have a new player come over from Shawnee.

Lets try for 6k per person bv2 adjusted for pilots. No era or tech restrictions other than no aerospace.

It will be a convoy support mission. Defenders will be defending a convoy of 2 cargo trucks and 2 j27 transports and trying to get them off the opposing end of the map.

terrain will include hills, trees, some water.

Optional rules from tac ops:

optional ammos
vehicle criticals and motive (btw skunk works has an option to print the sheet with the tac ops critical charts, if you need sheets printed let me know)
turn on / off gauss
ppc field inhibitor
hot load lrms

If you are going to SoonerCon and want the two latest Lance packs, which release on the 24th, call Games HQ to let them know.  They can order more so that they can bring one or both to be held in your name, but only if they know by Saturday so they can add to their order.

I am getting the Fire Lance from the Dragoons during SoonerCon.

So, now that SoonerCon is finished . . . say July 16th, a Thursday . . . I would not mind looking at a campaign, but should it be IS vs Clan, IS vs IS or Clan vs Clan?

Post by: Colt Ward on 04 July 2015, 00:46:16
Well, I do have the Falcon & Wolf SB, Dragon Roars and a few others- it would make it easy.  But I do not know if everyone likes facing or being Clan.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 04 July 2015, 09:48:03
It will likely just be you and I playing on a Thursday night. So, I am good with either of those. I would just like to use warchest if we are actually running a campaign. I have total chaos we can go off of.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 04 July 2015, 11:26:40
It is a campaign, but IIRC none of the same forces are used.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 05 July 2015, 19:58:57
We can do Falcon and Wolf. How about this.

We build a forces off what is listed as available in the F&W book. 50k bv2 with pilots. Nothing over a Clan Elite and no skill separation more than two. We then play out the battles listed with that force and use warchest to do repairs in between.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 05 July 2015, 20:14:52
An endurance challenge?

How does salvage work with warchest?  does it cost points to switch out the Omni configs?  Cap the types in the scenarios- IE, only one Warhawk C or RFL IIC?  What about the skill disparity between Wolf & Falcon sides- Wolves had less units on the table but better skills, Falcons had more units but lower skilled and started off with secondline forces?

While the list in there is ok, I would like to see things like the Night Gyr, Turkina, Linebacker, Phantom and others included which should be era appropriate.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 05 July 2015, 20:55:30
I would not put a limit on the quantity of chassis as long as it is not spammy. There is a cost to swap omni configs in warchest. Salvage is setup where you can sell the the salvaged unit for half it's original price. Or you can repair it based on how damaged it is. In other warchest games we have called something that the ct was fully cored not salvageable. but I am flexible on that for this campaign. I am also find on using units that fit the era based off what the MUL says.

For the disparity in force size vs skill. I am ok with it except the secondline part. And that is simply because I want to use the crap ton of Falcon mechs (Assuming you want to be Wolf) I already have built, painted and decal-ed. But I can bend on that a little.

When it comes down to it, I just want to do something with repair and re-arm. Warchest is the simplest system I have seen, but still has some meat to it.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 05 July 2015, 21:08:22
Actually, I was not thinking about the Secondline part too much- the Wolves were the ones moving forward so they usually did not face the same unit twice.  They started off crushing secondline units then advanced.  As I understand you would want to use the same Cluster and face my cluster repeatedly just on each new battlefield as the Wolves moved closer to Wotan?

Of course I would be Wolf . . . I have fought through the Refusal War once going from a nearly dezgra warrior due to how I survived the Trial of Position to becoming the Star Captain.  This would be a bit different.

So the way it worked was the Falcons would have X amount of points (based on the F&W system) and the Wolves would have better skills and anywhere from 80% to 60% of the points- I think the lowest you ever got is if you had Khan Natasha Kerensky on the field in the Widowmaker.

I think the part of the campaign following Ulric to Wotan might be best.  In which case, you might want some more BV due to having larger clusters overall at that point in time even if the skill level is not as high.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 05 July 2015, 21:26:08
We can adapt the F&W battles as we get to them. So, if it calls for the defender having more units, we could do that with bv.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 05 July 2015, 21:40:21
I think the BV balance was there, it was just skills were balanced by numbers.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 05 July 2015, 21:43:35
It does not have to be exactly like that. But we can do whatever.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 06 July 2015, 01:25:28
When doing 'historic' scenarios I like to match the odds as much as possible . . . though having sat down to start selecting units, I have a battle trinary that is coming in at 28k . . . Which has some cheap BV mechs and no upgraded pilots yet.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 06 July 2015, 15:25:04
We can do less bv. That was just a number I threw out there. 35-40k is probably a better number.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 06 July 2015, 15:48:26
Well, that would be a single Trinary for a single battle.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 06 July 2015, 15:53:37
I don't see the battles being more than a star considering it will be Thursday nights.

We have a different approach to how we setup games. Go ahead and tell he how you want it setup. And next time we will do it my way. That work? Otherwise we could spends weeks going back and forth nit picking each other.

edit.. or it may be easier to meet up and hash it out. With out different schedules doing it via the forum is time consuming.

We had a pretty good turnout yesterday, with a few new faces.

I think we are going to revive our Total Chaos game for next time. We have two players that were already running on the merc side. I will continue to play opfors. If someone would like to jump in on the merc side, or just help with opfors, they are welcome. The way worthless set this up on the merc side, you do not have to be there for every game. Also, if you are not there, your units are not being damaged or destroyed.

If there is enough interest I will get this setup for Sunday July 26th at Game HQ, with a 1pm start time.

Hi Guys!

This is Colt's wife.  Can you please remind him in the future that part of the deal about him going to play is that he checks in at least once to make sure he's alive?  He told me he wouldn't be out that late (which I called for the blatant lie that it was), but it's midnight now, and he isn't answering his phone (which is a huge no no).

I am really thankful that he has friends to play Battletech with (no I really am happy!), but he sometimes forgets that there are rules (and the rules apply for both of us).

Thanks!  I really appreciate it!

I have wrote up an AAR and break down of track costs in the AAR section. There is also a link to pics from today.

The next game is tentatively in two weeks. We will see how I feel after Gencon lol.

The track the players have selected is Full Metal Press (TC pg 63). It is a 3 way battle and a good chance for our heroes ( or enemies depending on your point of view) to earn some coin.

For Monday the 7th we have John, Colt, Me and tentatively Brent, and Seth (Lawton). There are a few others that may try to swing by.

I think it would be fun to do a capture the intel game like we did last fall. Game would be decided on victory points.

12 or 1pm ish? 5k per person sound ok?

We could form up teams and have an objective. Maybe king of the kill type thing.

I was building with the 6k you threw out earlier, lol . . . but I could cut some BA I guess.  Yeah, aim for the middle 1230?

I have that wooden small craft based, we could use it as a king of the hill type scenario- keep control for X turns, let your BA/infantry get out the data core or destroy it inside the small craft.  Get the data core back to your side of the map, win!  Sort of a capture the flag for one side, destroy the flag for the other?

Also bringing some of my recent terrain projects.

Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 24 February 2016, 19:19:44
Our next big track in Total Chaos will be Panic and Pain. The mercenaries try to keep quarantined civilians from fleeing a containment area. The tricky part is they are using battlemechs and are under strict orders to keep casualties to a minimum.

The civilians will be trying escape via various vehicles. The more that are stopped without being destroyed the better the pay day.

This will be at GHQ on Sunday March 6, 2016 with a 1pm start time. If you have any questions please pm me.

I am not opposed to squeezing in a generic supply track before the game on March 6th if there is interest.

So, my truck got broke into today. It was a smash and grab and the thing right into the window was my btech box. I got lucky and my hotz mat and rule books were in a different bag, and my minis were not in there. I did lose my roads, most of my heroscape, half my trees, my smoke marker and all my dice. Include about 30 pair of faction dice. I doubt the people will do anything but toss it in the garbage once they open it. But please keep an eye out mainly for the faction dice. There was a near full set of armory, full set of 2015 gencon, 2 pair 2015 german championship, the 5 house german sets, and a few other pair of customs.

We will definitely have some events planned for Soonercon in June.

I just recently continued our Total Chaos campaign after my health hiatus. It is open to anyone. We always find room for a new player on either side of the battle.

Tomorrow we are playing Total Chaos at Sunn'y Game Lounge. This will be a new venue we are trying out for some weeknight games. Most of our players are from the NW side of OKC. So, the drive to the south side at rush hour can be a problem.

Grim Death:

After the mercs last contract, in which they had to take up arms against civilians, they look for more honorable work. Yeah they are mercenaries but you still have to have boundaries.

Their next mission takes them to the Chaos March, where they are hired by the AFFS to help take Sheratan.

Sunny's Game Lounge 1518 N Rockwell Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73127

I will be there as close to 5pm as I can and we will try to start by 5:30pm. We will be finished by the time the store closes at 10pm. There is a $2 charge if you bring outside food in. But there is no charge for using the tables.

Post by: faithless on 31 March 2016, 10:46:10
The new venue worked well for week night games. The northside players had a lot less trouble getting there. The game however did not go great for our mercs. The Grim Determination lived up to their name. Our heroes suffered some critical hits in the first fire phase. By turn 4, John's valkyrie and hatcheman were in bad shape and limping off the battlelfield. Curtis' valkyrie took 2 gauss slugs early on, and eventually succumb to fire. By this time GD had lost a hussar and mongoose. A cicada, a hurt venom and a galahad were remaining. Curtis' thunderbolt kept taking shot and eventually retreated as well.

The next missions is Savage Silence. It is a garrison mission on Chamdo, Capellan Confederation. This will b at GHQ at 1pm on Sunday.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 03 April 2016, 19:28:48
We had a light turnout today but a solid game. We played the Savage Silence track. The mercs took a little bit of damage, but did not lose a mech. The opfor and their green pilots were wiped out. The mercs cored a mercury and head capped a venom. The hussar and raven both went out on engine hits. The hussar did itself in falling repeatedly while trying to get up with hip damage.

The next game will be a generic track called Beachhead. The following missions will take place as  WoB attacks Solaris 7. The first game there will need a decent turnout out, due to the setup of the track. The game starts out as a 2 way battle but there could be some traitors lurking.

Also, I am going to run a grinder on Saturday April 30th as part of Tabletop Day. This will be at Game HQ. I am thinking I will run it from Noon until 7pm. I will post the definite time when I have it worked out with GHQ.

We are playing at Sunny's Game Lounge staring about 5:30.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 07 April 2016, 22:40:02
The mercs made first contact with the Wobbies 25th Division as they landed on Solaris 7.  The merc's commander was killed in action from a WoB gauss round to the head of his swayback. The fighting was fierce and the the shootist that had taken the merc's life was later destroyed. The gauss variant demolisher was also destroyed. A flashman that had been sniping for the duration of the battle was able to retreat, leaving the spoils of war to the mercs. The salvage was good but the cost of losing the commander will weight heavily on them.

The next mission is Fire Free Zone.

With work and such I will not be able to do a week night game this week. The grinder on the 30th is still on.

I have not decided if I will be able to do a Sunday game this weekend or not.

It looks like we should have a few players Saturday. Remember everything is provided. If you want to bring your lucky pair of d6 go for it.

Also, you do not have to play all day. Grinder is setup so you can drop in and out of the game as you need to. I have pilot cards made to keep track of your level and kills.

Np, with all the rain and moisture in the air I am not painting anything.  Even waiting for it to quit before I mess with the epoxy.

14 mechs & 4 vehicles to prime, and I actually want to finish up some of the detail on others to get them into shape.

You have another campaign game on Thursday?

We will play Total Chaos: Track TBD at Sunny's Game Lounge. Thursday May 5, 2016 We begin at 6pm. I get off at 5, so I will be there as soon as I can to setup.

Colt - Bring 4 units. 1 advance tech 3 intro. You have a 3/4 pilot and the rest 4/5. IS tech, and available up to the year 3071. The lance should come in around 5k without pilot adjustment. Depending on who all shows up, you will pick units from that lance.

Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 31 May 2016, 13:32:23
Off the top of my head I do not recall the mortis having tsm. But it did have aes on the hppc and the hatchet. The rocket 10 was blah. But the mml is a nice feature.

I've got your mini pinned but I did not fully put them together, so you can do any posing when you glue them.

I figure that would allow for some of the later tech.

Since you are well versed on the universe in during DA. What would be a planet or time frame that the Falcons and Wolves bumped heads? This is not for the 11th, just future stuff.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 02 June 2016, 11:05:00
Well . . . Hesperus II of course in 3143 or so, multiple galaxies on both sides and the Horses were there supporting the Falcons.

If you want to include the Steel Wolves, you have the first time the Falcons came at Skye- they lost.  The Surat BA implies the Crusader Wolves raided Glengarry at some point- either smash & grab or real Trial- when Malvina controlled it in the desant phase say smash & grab.  After the returns to the OZ to become Khan, Trial would be more likely as the commander she left behind was old school.

Those are off the top of my head, I would have to grab a map of the Skye prefecture to have a better idea.

Any announcements for SoonerCon yet?

Unless I am looking in the wrong place on the website nothing exists to show any sort of schedule for any of the games?

Edit- NVM I found it . . . AS is not listed and they just show all the descriptions as 'coming soon' . . . so, I guess the question still applies.  Also sort of funny, in the picture of a table for the gaming schedule you can see a Catalyst T in the background, I think it was the Alpha Strike table last year.

There will be grinders, AS, and TW Scenarios. The two scenarios I am running will be Friday and Saturday Evenings 5-9.

I do not think it will be very bad. The sounds does not bounce around like it did in the old place with the cinder block walls.

I have not had time to come up with anything creative scenario wise for Saturday. I am thinking maybe just do victory points based on kills.

4 assault
3 heavy
2 medium
1 light
1 vehicles
1 point of ba / platoon of infantry

maybe have a few buildings on each side to scan and get a few vp for each successful scan.

They should have a few new things.

I've got a really nice banner and stand on the way for soonercon. One of the other demo agents works for a graphics company, and they offered us one for what I thought was a pretty good price. When we are not using it for cons and demos I am going to ask Brian if we could set it somewhere.

I have so much stuff to finish for soonercon and got side tracked making a dervish lightbringer. The crown of spikes was a pita. I found a bunch of spikes on rc sprues. There are about 4 that are awol. They are smaller than a grain of rice.

If people are available, we will play the next Total Chaos battle Sunday July 17, 2016 at GHQ. The start time is at 1pm. I will also send out some invites some of the new players we met at Soonercon to see if they would like to join in.

I got the Campaign Operations book and skimmed over some of the updates to the chaos system. I will adjust our costs to those numbers. For the most part they look the same but the charts have a few additions. Also this book brings in the formation and special abilities we have seen in AS to TW. We will phase in some of that in the near future. Those are optional and I may just give a few free special at my discretion to get everyone started. Then from there you could purchase them.

Thank you to everyone who played yesterday. The WoB pounded the mercs. But I think everyone still had a good time. This was the first time using the pilot special abilities for their commanders. They were pretty powerful, but as the mercs are now deeper into total chaos and going against more vet and elite units, I think it is a good balancing feature.

We are going to try and have our next game in two weeks. The battle will be on Tharkad.

Thank you to everyone who played Sunday. We had one gentleman play with us for the first time. We had met him at Soonercon this year. We played a Wolf and Blake recon mission and then modified a Supply missions into a rescue mission for the firefly pilot who went unconscious in a mech that fell and breached the ct in water. It was a good time. We almost destroyed Stacy's zeus in game two. It was put out of the game, but still repairable. So, close lol.

I took the dropship and got some nice comments about it. Over the weekend I built a tornado for an upcoming Total Chaos game. I am excited about that one.

The game went well. The modified tornado rules were not bad but could use some tweaking. Lets just say mechs spent a good amount of time on the ground. The mercs and stone's lament dished out a fair about of abuse to their own sides. The mercs,... which I have now named Monroe's Misfits... won by rule of the game but really did not gain anything after replacing mechs and repairs.

Hey faithless . . . I looked at Games HQ website calendar and I do not see BT on Sundays.  Might be worth getting it put on the schedule so it shows up.

I have tried many times and it never gets put on there. So,I post on this forum, I post in the Oklahoma Battletech group on FB, I have a mailing list I notify for games as well. I also have had a flier on the peg board in the game room for over a year that has the link to this forum. I do need to make a Battletech Played here sign like they do for Team Yankee to hang near the battletech products.

Here in a bit we are going to start a non-official planetary campaign based off of the Antallos turning point. Once we get the rules worked out I will post them and see who all wants to play. By doing it non-official it gives us the ability to run games outside of firebases, which would make it easier to hold some weeknight games and fit more peoples schedules.

We had our most recent Total Chaos game last Sunday. We have started holding more Thursday games at GHQ with at 6pm start time. Right now they are not part of a campaign.

This Thursday, we are going to do 4k bv2 with pilot adjustment per person.
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: Colt Ward on 30 November 2016, 12:45:26
Adjustment is in the 4k total?  Restrictions on equipment/era?
Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 30 November 2016, 12:50:38
4k bv2 total including pilots, c3 etc.

I would say 4-6 units at most since it is a Thursday night. No tech limits for this week. It is a chance to run and try units we don't normally take.

Whatever we decided as we are setting up. Probably try to make a mixture. Some trees, some hills, some buildings. The last game was all urban so probably switch it up a little.

Thanks to everyone that played last night. We did not run it as a Catalyst Event, but just a fun game to get together and roll some dice. We ended up using 5k per person and and had objectives to capture. Points were awarded for captures and kills.

Points were as follows:

John - 7 victory points
Colt - 5
Faithless - 4
Mutt - 3

I threw the victory points together on the fly, but will have a sheet for the table next time.

We are going to try and play again Thursdays night at GHQ, 6pm start time. There is some wiggle room in that due to traffic that time of day.

Post by: faithless on 06 December 2016, 00:59:54
Thursday night at 6pm we will play at GHQ. Mission details below.

===== King of the HIll ====

Do you have what it takes to be King of the Hill?

Unit selection: Each player will bring 5k bv2 of mechs (only) at a maximum of 4 units. The 5k will include pilot adjustment.

You can bring any level of tech and any era. No customs units. But you can swap ammo types. Pilot and Gunner can be no more than 3 skills apart at most.

Terrain and setup description: The mountain will be created from 3D terrain on one 4’x6’ map sheet (1.75” hexes). There will be a mixture of routes and ledges the best we can with the terrain available. Spawn points will be scattered across the map edges.

Victory Conditions: When a ‘Mech ends a round on the summit, its owner scores one point in the round the ‘Mech reached the summit, two points for the second consecutive round on the summit, three for the third, and so on. The first round a ‘Mech or ‘Mechs ends a round on the summit, a bonus point will be awarded to those ‘Mechs. In the event of a tie at the end of the game, the first tiebreak will be being on the summit in that round, the second will be size of said ‘Mech, the third will be number of ‘Mechs on the summit, and the fourth will be how close any remaining ‘mechs owned by the same player are to the summit.

Special Rules: We will be using the rules in Total Warfare, with the following modifications:

Modified initiative: Cards bearing the players’ names will be dealt out at the start of each round. Movement will be in order. Move half of your ‘Mechs, rounded down. (If you have two or three, move one. Four or five, move two. Six, move three.) The order will then be stepped through in reverse, with everyone moving his or her remaining ‘Mechs.

The following rules from Tactical Operations will be used: Sprinting, Evading, Climbing, Careful Stand, Firing When Down, Gauss Shut Off, Turning off PPC Field Inhibitor.

No teams. If you are good friends with another player (and for some reason you don’t want to blow them to bits), please try to set up opposite them if possible.

Note that despite the use of three-dimensional terrain, the Standard Rules LOS rules will be used. Just because it doesn’t look like you can see another ‘Mech doesn’t mean that’s the case – the terrain is still a bit of an abstract representation. Remember: adjacent hexes always have line-of-sight – even if one hex is eight levels higher!

If you have questions or you need help constructing a unit, please let me know.

Title: Re: OKC Games HQ- Lawyers, Guns & Money and other stuff
Post by: faithless on 10 January 2017, 18:05:45
That is hard to say. I normally have people change their minds an hour before game time. I will be there, probably Gabe, and John. Possibly more.

We will play the usual TO rules we have been along with Sprinting. When I get some time I am going to make a sheet that goes over all this and I can hand out to new players to our weekly group. Although, it may be best to wait until the new rule book is out and go off of that.

5kbv2 adjusted for skills. I don't know of anything not allowed. I just ask if you bring something you know we normally don't play you have an idea how to properly use it, or let me know at least a day before so I can research it.

Sunday we discussed some of this and I came to this conclusion. We will do like we do for TO rules and say this items may be in play. But not make people disclose what they are using. So going into a game, we will know Homing A4 is a possiblity, mines, etc.

Post by: faithless on 16 January 2017, 15:58:36
Thursday evening at GHQ, we will pick back up with Total Chaos.

GRAVE RECOVERY
SITUATION
CORMARC FALLS
NEW AVALON, FEDERATED SUNS
16 JANUARY 3073

Attackers Mercs (recommended 10% of force, but we can adjust by turnout. I would like to shoot for 10kbv non adjusted per side.)

GM tip... recommend some mechs with working actuators and maybe some infantry.

Defenders 44th SD (100% of defenders force)

The mercs are trying to find Jackson Davion's downed Battlemaster and remains.

Options:
+250 Betrayed: The Defender places five standard minefields on the battlefield. Mines may occupy the same hexes as wreckage.

–250 Night Lights. The Defender has illuminated the area for
their search efforts, negating the cover of darkness.

OBJECTIVES
Respect for the dead. Recover pieces of Marshal of the Armies
Jackson Davion’s BattleMaster. [500]

None left behind! Recover the bodies of any other non-
Blakists. [+50 per body recovered]

I hate carrion feeders. Destroy/Cripple at least half of the
Defender’s force. [400]

Rules in play: Gauss,  Firing when prone, Sprinting, Homing Artillery, mines, Alternate munitions if they are available up to 3073.

Also I know some have got some new units you may want to use. In Total Chaos you can sell a unit for 1/2 new warchest cost. We can then do a roll to see if you get the unit you are wanting. If not I won't make you sell the unit. If you have a question about this contact me via pm.
I worked on some river terrain which may or may not be useable. The water effects had  bit of reaction as it was curing so a day of work may have went down the toilet. I will check it when I get home. I am hoping it is still useable. It will be much nicer than the heroscape water hexes.

Brent worked on some desert terrain for the Antallos campaign (TBD).

Next week I will likely not be running anything. I have offered my mat and  terrain to some of the group if they felt like running a game.

Thursday Feb 16 we will play the next mission in Illyria mini campaign that Brent is GMing. It will be at GHQ and start at 6pm. I "won" the last track Sunday by the most strict definition of the rules. After massive repairs and some salvaging my forces are ready to go again. There is also two damaged mechs that I put into our shared forces sheet. They will need repairs and a pilot before they can be used. I would hold on to them until the conclusion of the mini campaign since we cannot purchase any new hardware. Spreadsheet URL below.

We were going to not have a normal battletech game this week, but Brent may not be available to GM it. So, Thursday March 2, 2017 at GHQ we will do a non-campaign game. 5kbv2 with pilot adjustment. Shooting for the usual 6pm start time. Mechs, infantry, vehicles, vtol are the allowed units. I will see if I can find a capture the flag ruleset.

Colt and Gabe's team won with 1 capture and 1 kill.

Sunday Brent and I are playing a pickup game with combined arms and trying out the abstract aerospace rules again at GHQ. They open at 1pm.

A TO rule huh?  Too bad, I have very rarely had the opportunity to use it but I know its hated for the reason of taking low BV fast hovers & VTOLs, cranking their pilot up and turning them into manned missiles.

Thursday April 6, 2017 HTP Antallos: Gimme the Money. 6pm at GHQ. I am running this as an event.

SITUATION
Maqqavelwan
Prinis Prime
Outworlds Alliance
5 October 3067

Thanos’ Terribles have struck once more. Their raid on the capital Maqqavelwan used corrupted locals to smooth their entry to the local DropPort. They easily outclassed the local militia and robbed the local gem market with the First Long Road Legion’s Second Battalion being outside the city on training maneuvers. However, the Terribles’ informants were unaware that the command company of the Legion’s First Battalion had arrived to take part in the training. Now the vastly outnumbered pirates have to escape the city without giving up their loot or the entire operation will be a failure.

I will be playing the attacker opfor. Depeding on turnout I may have one person join me as opfor, which I will provide. Opfor will outnumber the defenders 4:1. The players will play as Thanos' Terribles. Each person should bring 3k bv2 unadjusted worth of mechs with hand actuators. This is required to carry the jewels. The year limitation is up to 3067 and IS tech only. 3 units max per person. I will assign pilots before the game starts. The objective is getting as much loot off the opposite edge of the board.

Grinder for Tabletop Day Saturday April 29, 2017 at Game HQ. 11am - 6pm. Everything will be provided. We will not have a dedicated bootcamp table, but if any new players or people who would like to learn attend we will give you some one on one instruction. This will be an official game.

Tomorrow, Saturday April 29, 2017,  I will be running Battletech Grinder as a part of Tabletop Day 2017 at Game HQ in Oklahoma City, OK.

Battletech Grinder is a progressive free-for-all Battlemech combat, designed to transition players from the introductory scenario to the full scope and technology of the Battletech Total Warfare Core rule set.

Players begin with a light Battlemech, equipped with the most basic weapons.  When that unit is destroyed in combat, the player re-enters the Grinder with a more powerful Battlemech equipped with more advanced weapons and new equipment, and this continues until the player commands the most advanced and deadly units in the game. Players can play as long as they wish, leave, and return during the scheduled event listing if they wish due to the continuous nature of the Grinder. Each player will be given a pilot card so you can keep track of your progress. Grinder can accommodate from 2 to 14 players. All materials are provided.

** We will not have a dedicated bootcamp table, but if any new players or people who would like to learn to play I can give you one-on-one instruction.

Thank you to those who attended KoTH and Grinder last week. Grinder turnout was low but we had a good time. We had severe storms come through early that morning causing some damage, power outages and flooding.

Our next game is Thursday May 4. 2017 at Game HQ. 6pm start time. 5kbv2 per person. Combine arms is ok, except aerospace. Unit size is up to you. You know how many units you are comfortable running. No era or tech restrictions. Defenders will be defending a base. The attackers will have to scan for the objective and then destroy it. Secondary objective getting half the force off board. We will determine teams depending on turnout. I will not be running this as an official game.

I will be running part 1 of the Scorched Earth World Wide Event Thursday August 10, 2017 at GHQ. Start time would be 6pm and end at 10pm or sooner depending on how the battle goes. It is setup for a 6 hours time limit or 20 turns. Regardless of how many turns we will do a hard stop at 10pm to tally the results. All units will be provided. So, if someone needs to leave before 10pm, we can hand them off to another player. I am going to plan for 6 players, including myself. If more show up, awesome. We can divide the units up further.
If you are interested, please let me know in the comments and what side you would like to play. The forces will be a Clan Wolf Garrison Cluster vs Free Rasalhague Republic. I will be playing on the FRR side.

Clan Wolf:
Larry
Gordon
Thomas
FRR:
Billy (me)
Zachary - pending availability
Brent (will play whatever side is needed.)

I will be adding this event to the WWE listing.

The next Total Chaos game is tonight. We ran a dropship retreat mission last week. I am looking at rerunning that for the players that missed it. The replay will be Sept 17, 2017 at GHQ. 1pm start time. Anyone who played the last game can join, but they cannot use units used in the first running of the event.

What sort of game are you thinking about for next Thursday, the 14th?

Thursday September 14, 2017. The game at GHQ will be a CTF style game. The start time will be the usual 6pm. Each person can bring 5k bv2 including pilot adjustment. Minimum 2 units. Mechs, vehicles, infantry, and vtols are fine. No aerospace or conventional fighters.

We will divide into teams and fight over a research facility, ctf style. You will have to scan with bap for one turn or use the non-electronic scanning rules. Then try to return to a friendly staging area. Multiple units can be scanning and returning intel. If a unit is destroyed, you can regain the intel by making another scanning attempt at the wreckage. Sprinting is allowed with usual restrictions.

Points breakdown:
10pt for returning with intel, per trip.
4pt kill an assault mech
3pt kill a heavy mech
2pt kill a medium mech
1pt kill a light mech
1pt all other units.

We had a great game of CTF last night. Blue team won after a close last round with a score of 51 to 48. We also had a new player join us for his first game. He did a great job.

Things have been busy and I have neglected this thread. We post all our events on the Oklahoma Battletech Facebook group. We are active most Thursdays.

Tonight we are playing at 6pm at Game HQ. 7kbv2 with pilot adjustment per person. Any era, but if you bring unfamiliar tech please have an idea how to use it or let me know so I can skim the rules ahead of time.

Lately we have had super heavies, and some tripods used in these opens games. It is a great way to try units you normally would not. The last game we had my Ares Zeus facing off against a Poseidon. Along with other units. We have not got them close enough to physical attacks yet, but I am sure they will in future games.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Also we have a sister group in the Tulsa metro. They play games at Dice Addiction. Those are posted on  the Oklahoma Battletech Facebook group as well.

I had a few weeks of down time due to vacation and illness. We picked up back up last week with a Tuesday and a rare Saturday game.

This week we are back on our normal schedule. We will play Thursday Feb 1, 2018 at Game HQ. We hope to roll dice at 6pm. If anyone is running late we will work them in when they arrive.  I will post game details asap.

We have started our first Faction base tournament. We are in the middle of round 1 right now, with 8 players. It has been a good time so far.

We have also started our planning for Soonercon in June.  We will have our usual Grinder, and Bootcamp events. We will also have AS and TW scenarios. Grinder and Bootcamp tables will run during the whole event. The AS and other TW events are TBD.

We will be playing through more escalation tournament round 1 games Thursday night this week at game hq. Also, I will be running some Battletech at the Warlord Games Convention in May. As of right now this will likely be Grinder and Bootcamp, but I may add one scenario between now and then. I am also continuing to work on events for Soonercon, and assisting with the planning of a statewide game day based around Tukayyid.

I have created a new thread. The first post details all the information about where, when, what and how our group plays. I will be making all new posts on that group. It does link back to this group for historical purposes.

You can view the new thread here (https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=62193.msg1428073#msg1428073).
