Do we have a tally for what's left in TRO:3025 to draw from?  Could start there for the new year.

These are the plastic 'Mechs from the previous intro boxes and Lance Packs that haven't been covered yet:
  • Assassin
  • Blackjack
  • Catapult
  • Charger
  • Cicada
  • Dervish
  • Firestarter
  • Flea
  • Guillotine
  • Hatchetman
  • Hermes II
  • Quickdraw
  • Raven
  • Trebuchet
  • Vulcan
  • Whitworth
Since the mini for the Raven II is a Q4 2018 release, I'd like to wait on it until the second half of 2019.  I would also like to wait on any of the 'Mechs in the new intro boxes until then.

For the Inner Sphere 'Mechs, we can pick one for each House (kinda) and then throw in an extra at the end.  So:
  • Catapult (Liao)
  • Trebuchet (Marik)
  • Hatchetman (Steiner)
  • Charger (Kurita)
  • Dervish (Davion)
  • Firestarter (extra, include the OmniMech variant)
Look good?

Similarly, for the Clan, these are our remaining 'Mechs from TRO 3055:
  • Locust IIC
  • Phoenix Hawk IIC
  • Griffin IIC
  • Rifleman IIC
  • Shadow Hawk IIC
  • Incubus (Vixen)
  • Hellhound (Conjurer)
  • Galahad (Glass Spider)
The Vixen is getting a new variant in Q4 2018 as well so I would like to wait until the second half of 2019 as well.  So we could use these for the next six months:
  • Rifleman IIC
  • Phoenix Hawk IIC
  • Hellhound (Conjurer)
  • Locust IIC
  • Galahad (Glass Spider)
  • Griffin IIC
We could also start mixing in 'Mechs from TRO 3058 and postpone the Locust IIC and Griffin IIC until when we feature the Inner Sphere versions.  What do you think?

The baboon and the Mandrill are closely related. Can or should be both of them be presented in the same article?

This is about a month overdue.  Preliminary schedule for the second half of 2019:

7/1 (Inner Sphere): Wolverine
7/15 (Clan): Shadow Hawk IIC
7/29 (Special): Aerospace Fighters
8/12 (Inner Sphere): Shadow Hawk
8/26 (Clan): Vixen (Incubus)
9/9 (Inner Sphere): Griffin
9/23 (Clan): Kodiak and Kodiak II
10/7 (Inner Sphere): Locust
10/21 (Clan): Hankyu
11/4 (Inner Sphere): Thunderbolt
11/18 (Clan): Thresher
12/2 (Inner Sphere): BattleMaster
12/16 (Clan): Battle Cobra
12/30 (Special): WarShips and JumpShips

This focuses on the Classics in the new boxed sets and sees us start TRO 3058 for Clan 'Mechs.

Does this look good?  Does anyone have anything they'd like to request?

We haven't.  On one hand, the Ostscout is the only one of the Unseen Osts that has a Classic mini though.  On the other, I don't believe they are popular 'Mechs so we could do a single post with all four (including the Ostwar).

Would this be a 2019 or a 2020 post?

Just thinking of the current thread of the Ostsol, or why not split it 2/2?  Say Ostroc / Ostwar then Ostscout / Ostsol?  The pairing since lore mentions the Ostwar parts ending up on the Ostroc alot and infamous 3025 tro printing with reversed stats.

That makes sense to me.

I’d like to do the 55-ton trio this semester.  Would you prefer to see the Ost* threads in October/November or January/February?

Why not a pair for each so we don't get ost-ed out.  Ostsol and Scout first then the Stroc and War later?

That makes sense to me.

Would October be good for the Ostscout and Ostsol?  Our schedule would then be:

7/1 (Inner Sphere): Wolverine
7/15 (Clan): Shadow Hawk IIC
7/29 (Special): Aerospace Fighters
8/12 (Inner Sphere): Shadow Hawk
8/26 (Clan): Vixen (Incubus)
9/9 (Inner Sphere): Griffin
9/23 (Clan): Kodiak and Kodiak II
10/7 (Inner Sphere): Ostscout and Ostsol
10/21 (Clan): Hankyu
11/4 (Inner Sphere): Locust
11/18 (Clan): Thresher
12/2 (Inner Sphere): BattleMaster
12/16 (Clan): Battle Cobra
12/30 (Special): WarShips and JumpShips

I know you are trying to alternate Clan and Inner Sphere, but after the Griffin IIc (which saw only three people reply) you might want to combine the Shadow Hawk and the Shadow Hawk IIc into one post (maybe do it on 07/15)... Then put the Thunderbolt you took out to make room for the Ostscout/Ostsol, in the slot the Shadow Hawk was (08/12).

Just a thought.

That's not a bad idea.  I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.  I've liked the idea of alternating weeks.  However, I acknowledge that I don't have a good feel for what 'Mechs are "popular" (so I've been going based on TRO and general availability).  And we will run out of Clan 'Mechs before we run out of Inner Sphere 'Mechs anyway.

For other weeks, we can pair up (or more!) Clan 'Mechs, and do the same with the Inner Sphere once we're out of TRO 3025.

How does this sound?

7/15 (Mixed): Shadow Hawk and Shadow Hawk IIC
7/29 (Special): Aerospace Fighters
8/12 (Mixed): Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt IIC
8/26 (Clan): Vixen (Incubus) and Incubus II
9/9 (Inner Sphere): Griffin
9/23 (Clan): (Invading Clans, Ghost Bear Edition) Grizzly, Kodiak, and Kodiak II
10/7 (Inner Sphere): Ostscout and Ostsol
10/21 (Clan): (Invading Clans, Smoke Jaguar Editon) Arctic Cheetah (Hankyu) and Ebon Jaguar (Cauldron-Born)
11/4 (Inner Sphere): Locust
11/18 (Clan): (Invading Clans, Diamond Shark Editon) Thresher and Piranha
12/2 (Inner Sphere): BattleMaster
12/16 (Clan): (Invading Clans, Steel Viper Editon) Battle Cobra and Crossbow
12/30 (Special): WarShips and JumpShips

This is my tentative schedule for Q1 2020:
  • 1/13 (Inner Sphere): Ostroc and Ostwar
  • 1/27 (Clan): Invading Clans, Nova Cat Edition: Supernova and Huntsman (Nobori-Nin)
  • 2/10 (Inner Sphere): Guillotine
  • 2/24 (Mixed): Black Thorns Edition: Grendel, Shadow Cat, and Shootist
  • 3/9 (Inner Sphere): Hermes and Hermes II
  • 3/23 (Clan): Fire Falcon and Cougar
Would anyone like to see different 'Mechs for the quarter?  Does anyone have strong feelings on grouping 'Mechs based on sourcebook?

If you've noticed, my ability to post these on time has been slipping.  This week in particular has been a brutal one for me (it's surprise audit hell time).

My employment situation is changing as of this coming Monday.  This should be a positive change and should let me get back on track to posting by Monday evenings.

If I continue to have issues with posting on time through the start of May, I'll look for a volunteer (or volunteers) to take this over.

I've already picked the Quickdraw for April.

  • 5/4: Raven and Raven II
  • 5/18: Highlander and Highlander IIC
  • 6/1: Blackjack and Blackjack OmniMech
  • 6/15: Cephalus, Septicemia, and Osteon

This fortnight's post is going to be late.  Not only do I work for what would be considered an essential business in these extraordinary times, but I've been running pretty hard to hit deadlines that someone else set (and someone else is responsible for, but what can you do?).   (No, I'm not a hero.  I'm a sysadmin and the internet waits for nothing.)

As Luciora said, the theme for 6/15 is, in fact, Society 'Mechs.  This ties in to the possible theme of ProtoMechs on 6/29, since the Society were pretty heavy users of them.

Just to point out, there is still a lot of 3025 we haven't covered yet..

Stinger
Wasp
Javelin
UrbanMech
Valkyrie
Cicada
Vulcan
Whitworth
Phoenix Hawk
Scorpion
Rifleman
Crusader
Archer
Goliath

Maybe include the LAM versions of Stinger/Wasp/Phoenix Hawk with their non-LAM listing, or maybe spin them off to group them on their own...

Thanks for the list.  I've been planning to wait on the remaining Unseen 'Mechs until a few months after the first wave of KS fulfillment.

There are still plenty we can do while we wait.

Tentative schedule for Q3:

7/6: ProtoMech special
7/20: Cicada
8/3: UrbanMech and UrbanMech IIC
8/17: Vulcan
8/31: LAM special
9/14: Wyvern and Wyvern IIC
9/28: Whitworth

Any thoughts?

I'll post the article for the Society 'Mechs tomorrow.
