I would love to play, but I do not have a lot of time. Do these two formats you speak of require a dedicated time set aside to paticipate on a regular schedule?

Play by post is entirely asynchronous.  MegaMek or a TableTop simulator need you to be online at the same time.

Basically, it's shared story telling.  I (the GM) will post the situation, and the PCs react to it (or each other).

As far as character creation, just outline what kind of character you want, and I'll work up a rough of the AToW stats.  We'll negotiate from there... :)

I have not played a post game ever. I would be willing to try though. I really was hoping to get into some form of comm's and play some classic tabletop. I would like to discuss gaming with people and not play by post, because no one would be talking to anyone. Plus I'd like to set things up so more people could get together and play more matches or even campaigns.

No worries!  It's not everyone's cup of tea.  I prefer it because it's asynchronous and doesn't entail the logistics of finding a time everyone can be on.
