3050's: Old Kentucky + Maskirova + Star League Tech
« on: 05 June 2013, 20:07:09 »
The Contracts portion of the Hot Spots book mentions the presence of a "lost" Maskirova training base that contains a couple of million C-Bills in gold and gems, as well as a piece of important Lostech. Any suggestions as to what that could be?

If it helps, Old Kentucky is on the FWL border, as well as the post 4th SW border of the CC (FedCom possession).

Sounds like a fun idea for a scenario.

Are you asking "what world is this likely to be on?" or are you asking "where on Old Kentucky is the cache?"?

If you're asking the first question I think Old Kentucky is a prime candidate and is pretty much left as an untouched jungle world, complete with intelligent apes who like to attack people, so the cache could be located anywhere.
There's plenty of isolated spots to hide it

I think the OP meant, what was the lostech.

Suggestion:  Null-Signature Field.

I mean, wouldn't it be great to have Stealth a full decade before anyone else?

ah, makes more sense. I mis-read.

If you throw in something like Null-Sig. You've gotta balance it out by having it extremly hard to operate, keep working and repair. Constant, very high rolls to ensure it stays working would be in stall - not only to ensure it's not too munchkin but also to give it that sense of being "something from another age - the glory days of the Star League".

Or maybe a library, like the Helm core - bascially a library on how to make and operate Null Sig, stealth armor, etc.

Maybe this is where the Cappies later developed their Stealth armor?

I take your Null Signature Field and up the ante with an fully equipped Exterminator 4D.
That´ll bring on the moral choice of keeping such a rare price or dismantling it for research.

it´s not necessarily that i´m immoral of character, i just don´t take great stock in the morality of others, that´s all

Thanks for the ideas. I think I'll stare at the entry in Hot Spots for a little (long) while to see if some tiny detail results in a creative breakthrough.

And then I'll just make it a cool mech.
