MekHQ weirdness
« on: 07 April 2018, 18:15:19 »
I have been playing MekHQ for a few weeks now with no problems but after re-downloading Megamek & MekHQ, on my dad computer mekhq will not run :(
Megamek and MegaMekLab will for some reason.

Thanks

Looks like it might me a bad download.  Try downloading it again, and I also suggest upgrading to the RC3 release here -https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=60704.0

It's the release candidate for the next stable.

Another possibility is the laptop may be using 32-bit java and/or OS. In theory the 1200mb setting used for MHQ is the 'limit' for java in a 32-bit environment but we've had more than a few people not able to run it without lowering the available memory.

Try going into the l4j file and lowering it to 1024 (which is where MM/MML are set).

Not merely 32 bit Java or OS. I run Windows 10 and 64 bit Java; sometimes MHQ will launch when set to 1200 MB, sometimes it will not.

We've had some people report that the latest updates to Windows 10 Defender mess with the exe files, unless they are added to the exception list.

Ah, sorry I was not clear enough - with 1200 MB it sometimes works and sometimes does not, but with 1024 MB it always works.

okay, I updated JVM and downloaded WinZip, it seems File Explorer will just extricating some of the files.
I'm starting to hate Windows 10
Thanks for the help ya'll

When it comes to unzipping using Windows, we've had issues before
