What color are RotS Hastati?

Trying to catch up and preparing to paint up some Republic of the Sphere mechs. The paint scheme on camo specs and here show them in black.

But this PDF of the old clicky tech mechs shows RoTS Hastati in a dark maroon with olive green accents: https://bg.battletech.com/download/MWDA_Uniques.pdf

I know I can paint them whatever I want, but is there a rationale for the difference in color scheme?

WizKids schemes technically are not canon (for BattleTech) and they tended to pay little attention to what was previously established. Kinda went the same when BattleTech started incorporating the Dark Age material. Camospecs gives the source of the scheme. That's what TPTB decided it would be in BT.

The green and maroon scheme is the canon paintjob for the Republic Standing Guard, eg the Republic's militia.

Thanks, those links help. With the various factions there's so much variety in choosing a color scheme within a faction, I was a bit bummed that my choices for RotS were "white", "black", and "Jack Skellington's Halloween Boogaloo".  The olive drab is one more option, and the last Doloire has a subtle blue tint to the black I think looks neat. I suppose I can always do whatever I like, though.

No?  You are also getting your cart before the horse- the MWDA color scheme came about first, especially since until the Capellan expansion none of the units existed before.

The Unit Compendium, while nice, is not canon.

Considering they canonized the unit profiles you mentioned- it is a official link on the website, it is a option.

No, I'm not. I'm saying MWDA tended to ignore what came before it, when there was prior canon. And visa versa for CGL with respect to MWDA. I'm not saying that all MWDA units existed prior to MWDA and they ignored BT canon.
