i admit that I'm not likely to see this. I know, been building to this for a decade, blah blah blah. The truth is, I'm just plain bored silly of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which has, at least to me, become a morass of bland and samey movies. Same smug, self-aware protagonists making the same smug self-aware jokes with the writers congratulating themselves for being so clever for said jokes.

Give me a reason to care. Really.

Not that far.  You missed CA-Civil war, Thor Ragnorock, Dr Strange, GOTG 2 and Spidey homecoming.
If you have a local library, you might check with them to see if you can check the movies out/rent them to catch up...

I must admit I'm a little curious how you make a movie with Iron Man, Captain America, Spider Man, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Vision, the magic lady, Black Panther and friends, Dr. Strange, Ant Man, Groot Jr, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Star Pratt, the guy who was in Blade Runner 2049, antenna lady, Bucky whatsface, and whoever I'm forgetting, without reducing 90% of them to cameo roles.

and whoever I'm forgetting
Loki, Nick Fury, Dr Strange's librarian, Wasp and co., Tyrion Lannister, Stan Lee

and yeah the dialogue will be nowhere near the ensemble that was Avengers or GotG, but heck, I'm stoked nonetheless!  :D

I am very excited, but at the same time I do worry a bit.  Mainly because its such a huge movie with a massive cast of characters, its a case of who do you focus on? It might be a bit too much.

Screen Rant did an awesome "supercut" video (it's 20 minutes or so long).  Marvel should pay THEM for such excellent promotion!

It's going to be the longest Marvel movie yet. Need that just for all the actors in the movie.

Yes and no. Avengers 4 is no longer "Infinity War Part II" though we can safely assume they're still connected in some way.  It's going to be a standalone film, from what I've heard.

spidy homecoming is actually relevant, if only because of the gear you find out that Tony has been distributing (at least in some cases) to other "heroes" he is courting, the interesting /scary thought that immediately comes to mind is if they were at least somewhat compatible, what kind of tech escalation would you get with combination black panther and friends (vibranium based tech) and stark industries gear, especially if you brought in some of the galactic gear that the guardians have access to (if you have enough units) and or some of the Asgardian stuff (kind of techno magic? ) I honestly look at most of the Asgard gear as being tech stuff hidden behind a primitive fetish motif.

I doubt that there's going to be serious tech escalation.  They might be able to get the gear to work together for one shot of a Wave Motion Gun (that probably fails to stop Thanos), but like the comic universe I think we won't see any massive boosts to Earth technology thanks to Wakanda or alien technology.

MCU is not the techno-engineering fantasy that is BT :D

Hope RDJ gets released too, despite him being really the face of MCU... I wants my Sherlock Holmes 3

RDJ is never going to be released. He's worth too much financially to the franchise for them to let him go. Marvel is going to keep throwing cash at him and he's going to keep looking bored and disinterested and mumble his way through the role until the end of time.

My bet is that Iron Man will die in this movie or the next Avengers and then he'll become the new Jarvis.

Why is him playing stark stopping him doing a SH3??

I predict him, cap A and maybe 1 or 2 other cores will die, to give room for all the new folk coming in.

I would also hazard a guess that before Black Panther, Marvel would have been a bit leery of killing off one of their big faces (IE Cap, Stark, or Thor) because they are the big money makers for them.

But the success of Black Panther and Guardians showed that they don't have to build the entire franchise round those three, and if one of them goes, then its not the end of the MCU as there's characters and actors to step into the breech.

Yea.  You can bet they won't be killing off panther, spidy or Dr strange (they just got here!!), but the others who've had a good run of their own are imo fair game.

They MCU powers that be haven't exactly been quiet about killing off Stark or Rogers for years now. They've played the roles for a long time (Hollywood-wise) and the actors are ready to move on--they have stated as much in interviews. If anything, Logan has given them confidence that they can do so and not hurt the overall franchise.

I'd love to see the Big 3 killed off.

Of course, I'd do it in a way that those 3 sub-franchises get rebooted with new heroes taking up those roles, ala the comics (yes I am suggesting a girl-Thor)
