Like their pre-orders were maybe super low? Seriously, 30-year gamer here. I just don't see people banging down the doors for ATOW. The current iteration of the book is convoluted with rules all over the place and stuffed to the gills with unnecessary fiction.

It needs the Battletech Manual treatment.

Though Catalyst said that the AToW reprint will not be available until 24 October 2022, they've released the PDF to the public.

I'm making the first four episodes of my new and improved video series on how to play AToW available to the public. Expect a few more episodes next week and more in coming weeks. Naturally, I'm covering updates for the third printing.

heh. my PDF order was placed on the old webstore, which has had problems with PDF updates. it will be easier to wait to order the book from the webstore and get the free pdf.

So what are the changes to the previous edition? I have seen people comment on a more organized character creation chapter, but anything else? I'm still thinking if only get the pdf or wait for the physical book to hit the stores in my country and grab it, but want something to justify the buying of the physical book.

Thick/Thin-Skinned Traits are no longer a thing, nor are tiered skills. Refs to other books have been updated. Minor spelling, grammar, and formatting improvements. Some new art got slotted in to fill in dead space.

the character creation isn't really more organized, they just changed point buy to be the default and made life path the enriched / guided option. the sample characters were also adjusted to conform to point buy (the elemental and... scout? required a lot of fiddling)

I'll be picking up a hard copy as soon as it hits DriveThru (Friday, per Sartris), and I'll be updating my character creation spreadsheet to drop Tiered Skills.  I really have to thank the devs for that one!  That was a BEAR to program, and dropping it will simplify my formulae immensely...  8)

oh, no. hard copy for stuff is only through DTRPG if it's PoD. you'll have to order it from the CGL store or wait for a copy to hit an FLGS near you
