Basically the topic. Though I'm also curious about a good size in general for when we're comfortable with the full advanced rules.

I am starting up too and I figured a battalion+ would be good and broke it down to lance level using the First Succession War conversions on Page 172 conversion tables.

Battalion is probably your best bet for BF.  Regiment for SBF.  There is not really a great Force Generator for the variability of BF Units you have at your disposal.  I have my own if you don't mind digging through TRO's to pick and choose.  Make easier aslo by not mixing Lance elements too much and roll ROT for Lance/Level II/Star.  Your point value is really going to vary depending on skill and quality of the force.
