And now.. the finale...
Year 3080 and onwards: the AftermathKerensky Cluster and Beyond- ⦁Clan Blood Spirit was surprised that the Federated Suns were willing to negotiate with them in regards to the the former Tortuga Dominion (a.k.a the Tortuga Region). With significant help from emissaries of Clan Diamond Shark, Clan Nova Cat, and Clan Snow Raven, Clan Blood Spirit managed to "purchase" the former Tortuga Dominion (a.k.a the Tortuga Region) from the Federated Suns in 3081, in exchange for their current remaining Warships (The CBS Red Raven and the CBS Stooping Kite); the negotiations took two years to complete. After packing what they can, the Blood Spirits left the Colleen system for good in 3082.
- However, not all of the Blood Spirits went to their new home, at least not immediately; Khan Bryce Schmitt and saKhan Lucas Campbell led two Galaxies' worth of forces into Strana Mechty, and challenged the Star Adders for a Trial of Possession of the Adder enclaves. Shocked by the Blood Spirits' audacity, the Star Adders deployed every defender they have available, while the other Clans watched. The ensuing Trial was long and both sides fought ferociously; the Star Adders prevailed in the end, with both Blood Spirit Khans dead, and all the Blood Spirit warriors with them sharing the same fate. The victorious Star Adders destroyed the Blood Spirit enclave in retaliation, and initially reveled in their victory, only to learn later that the Trial was a massive ruse; during said Trial, a taskforce of Blood Spirit warriors boarded the SLS McKenna's Pride and captured the ship, before leaving for Colleen and then beyond, with none of other Clans noticing until the Trial has ended. By then, it was too late, and the McKenna's Pride would later resurface in Clan Blood Spirit's new home in 3083, where it was renamed McKenna's Bride.
- James Vargras became Khan of the Blood Spirits upon the death of the previous Khans, and also the leader of their new home, the Blood Spirit Dominion. He kept the isolationist stance of his predecessors, but with a more Taurian approach (i.e. no getting involved in political alignments, and focusing on inward growth). Under his leadership, the Blood Spirit Dominion soon thrived. By the time James Vargras stepped down from Khanship, the Blood Spirit Dominion is self-sufficient, and has good relations with the Clan Diamond Fox (formerly the Diamond Sharks), the Raven Alliance, the Mica Majority, and the Federated Suns.
- After five years of information gathering and planning, Clan Goliath Scorpion invaded the Castillians in Nuevo Castille, crushing the Castilian military and easily pacifying the civilian populace in 3080, though the Umayyads were left alone temporarily; after three months of negotiations between the Scorpions and the Umayyads, the ensuing three Trials between the two factions (done in the style of Dance of the Scars) all resulted in Scorpion victories, and the absorption of the Umayyad Caliphate. The Goliath Scorpions spent the next 20 years integrating both sides into the Clan-caste system, modelling it upon the Ghost Bear-Rasalhague integration, as well as upgrading the Nuevo Castille's industrial infrastructure. At the same time, Clan Goliath Scorpion secretly moved their assets from the Kerensky Cluster into Nuevo Castille. This was done as the Clan found that their gains were marginal at best, and found themselves being increasingly targeted by the Star Adders and Cloud Cobras.
- In 3100, Clan Goliath Scorpion moved wholesale to Nuevo Castille, and offically established the Escorpión Imperio. Finally, in 3140, longstanding tensions between the Hanseatic League and the Escorpión Imperio led to the Hanseatic War, with the Escorpión Imperio conquering the Hanseatic League, and adding it into the Escorpión Imperio territories.
- As of 3101, only four Clans are left in the Kerensky Cluster; Clan Star Adder, Clan Cloud Cobra, Clan Coyote, and Clan Stone Lion. While the snake-themed Clans are the most powerful, Clan Coyote has bounced back and is just as formidable, while Clan Stone Lion had become strong enough to be just as formidable. Also, Warden and Crusader philosophies that once dominated Clan politics had been replaced with "Bastion" and "Agressor" philosophies. The "Bastion" philosophy espouses isolationism to keep "Inner Sphere taint" from ruining the Clans, while the "Aggressor" philosophy espouses the wholesale destruction of the Inner Sphere in order to keep the Clans safe from "Inner Sphere taint"; so far, "Bastion" factions have dominated the leadership of the remaining Clans, keeping the "Aggressor" faction under control.
- As for Clan Diamond Shark, they would make the Chainelane Isles their new homebase, and began carving out an economic empire across the Periphery and the Inner Sphere. They would later rename themselves Clan Diamond Fox, as a homage for both of their heritages.
Inner Sphere- Republic of the Sphere (RotS for short) officially born in 3080. The new nation initially consisted of the ComStar Alliance and former WOB Protectorate territories, with Exarch Devlin Stone as the ruler, and its military consisting primarily of former SLDF and Comguard forces (as ComStar opted to divest itself of its military arm, wanting to focus solely on maintaining HPGs) known as the Republic Armed Forces. After a plebiscite campaign in which Stone himself visited former Terran Hegemony worlds, the Republic of the Sphere soon regained most of the original Hegemony Worlds, making it as if the Hegemony itself was reborn. That said, Stone ran into some opposition, a majority of it from from the Capellans; the Black Dragon Society was also pissed, as Coordinator Theodore Kurita allowed the Republic to gain Telos IV and Dieron, causing the dissolution of the Dieron Military District.
- The Federated Suns, just like the other Successor States, ceded worlds that chose to join the Republic; the Suns also "sold" the Tortuga Region (a.k.a the former Tortuga Dominion) to the Blood Spirit refugees in exchange for their two Warships (as mentioned earlier), as the number of residents in the region were also dwindling despite improved water and air purification systems, prefering to migrate to the "mainland". Despite these losses in territory, there was no backlash against its current ruler, First Prince Victor Davion, as his reforms allowed his citizens to live in peace, while ensuring that the AFFS could counter any attacks against the Federated Suns. Another significant change, made to improve security of the Federated Suns due to being neighbors with Clanners, was the creation of two new Marches; the Basantapur March, which covered the Islamabad and Malagrotta Combat Regions, and the Outback March, which consisted of the Anji Muerto and Broken Wheel Combat Regions.
- St. Ives Compact also thrived post-Operation SCOUR, with the small realm having their own Shipyard significantly improving their security, though they are still heavily reliant on the Capellan March forces to bolster their defence should the Capellans attempt to invade again. That said, the current leader, Duke Kai Allard-Liao, focused on ensuring that the St. Ives Compact would survive in the long run.
- After the disastrous "2nd Capellan - St. Ives conflict", Sun-Tzu Liao was forced to rebuild the CCAF and his tattered reputation. He would spend the next few years focusing on domestic matters of the Capellan Confederation, quelling internal dissent, and marrying Naomi Centrella, and incorporating the Magestrix of Canopus with the Capellan Confederation. A couple of decades later, Sun-Tzu would once again make another attempt at expansion, invading the Duchy of Andurien; while initially successful, the Anduriens, with support from the Free Worlds League Military, would drive back the CCAF, and Sun-Tzu would return home in a coffin, dead from a sniper bullet.
- After the destruction of the Word of Blake, the Free Worlds League was a shattered mess, although it would eventually piece itself back together (albeit losing several world to the RotS), with only the Regulan Fiefs and the Duchy of Andurien still holding out. Conflicts between the Regulans and the FWL eventually led to the invasion and absorption of the Regulan Fiefs. This was eventually followed with both the Andurien and FWL forces working together to repel the the Capellan invasion of the Duchy of Andurien, though it did not immediately result in the Duchy rejoining the League, although it led to closer ties between the two realms. Time will eventually tell whether the Anduriens rejoin the Free Worlds League fold.
- After a realm-wide plebicite, Archon Adam Steiner had the Lyran Alliance reverted back to being called the Lyran Commonwealth; the primary reason for this change was to rid the shameful stain of "Katrina Steiner", who was often associated with the "Lyran Alliance" name. Like the other Successor States, the Lyrans ceded worlds to the RotS, primarily from the Isle of Skye, though key worlds such as Hesperus II remained in Lyran control.
- The Draconis Combine has lost the most since the collapse of the Second Star League, devastated by the simultaneous invasions from the Ghost Bears and Nova Cats, and ceding worlds to the RotS. It did not help that the machinations of the Kokuryu-Kai led to the hobbling of the DCMS. This was the state of the Draconis Combine after Hohiro Kurita re-ascended to the throne upon the death of his father in 3082. Upon reascension, the new Coordinator immediately focused on rebuilding the DCMS and the Combine's industrial arm, as well as directing the ISF into the elimination of the Kokuryu-Kai, as Hohiro views the organization as a destructive parasite.
- As for the Clans in the Inner Sphere:
- The Clans of Hell's Horses, Nova Cats and the Ghost Bears would primarily focus on integrating their newly conquered realms, as well as rebuilding their toumans.
- The Ghost Bears would also focus not only on rebuilding but also integrating their new planets; better relations with the FRR were also pursued, to the point where the FRR was peacefully absorbed in 3100, and would lead to the renaming of the Ghost Bear Dominion into Rasalhague Dominion.
- After avenging themselves by helping with the destruction of the Word of Blake, Clan Jade Falcon on mainly rebuilding their industrial base, having lost facitlities they took for granted in the Kerensky Cluster.
- Both sides of Clan Wolf would be reunited, but not in the way Vladimir Ward expected. In 3081, Phelan Kell would challenge incumbent Wolf Khan Vladimir Ward with a Trial of Possession for the Khanship of Clan Wolf, which included the exiles. Surprisingly, Vladimir Ward and the rest of Clan Wolf accepted, with Vladimir seeing it as an opportunity to finally put Phelan in his place, preferably six feet under, and regain additional warriors and resources quickly. Taking place in the ruins of Smitton, a village north of Tamar City, both Phelan Kell and Vladimir Ward duked it out in a gruelling duel, with Vladimir Ward piloting a custom Lobo battlemech, while Phelan Kell used a custom Arctic Wolf battlemech. The Trial ended with the Arctic Wolf missing all of its armor and right side torso, while the Lobo was reduced to a scrap heap, with its pilot dead as well. Phelan Kell's Khanship of the re-unified Clan Wolf was ratified by the rest of the Clan Council, and Clan Wolf was whole once again; although it would take a year for the Clan Wolf-in-Exile assets to be transfered from Arc-Royal into the Clan Wolf Occupation Zone. The Clan itself would then focus on rebuilding.
- Phelan Kell would later celebrate his victory by accidentally getting Kanna Kerensky pregnant, again; she was not pleased.
- As the new Clan Wolf Khan, Phelan Kell opted to retain Ivan Kerensky as his saKhan, who helped him re-integrate both Wolf factions in the reunified Clan Wolf touman, as well as rebuild said touman.
- Clan Snow Raven would merge with the Outworlds Alliance, creating the Raven Alliance.
- As mentioned earlier, Clan Blood Spirit made a deal with the Federated Suns in order to acquire the former Tortuga Dominion territories (which was renamed the Blood Spirit Dominion), and has since made it their new home. Naturally, the Blood Spirits were content with their isolated way of life, although they would have friendly relations with the nearest neighbors.
Somewhere in Coudoux, 3105.....Former Nova Cat Oathmaster Biccon Winters looked up at the sky, smiling as the stars lit up at night. As she enjoyed her evening tea, while sitting at the balcony of her dwelling, a large feline (a Nova Cat) made its way towards her, and sat beside her chair, mimicking an oversized cat-loaf. Biccon would notice the feline, and she would start petting its head. The Nova Cat enjoyed the petting and purred in response, and this scene lasted for a while. When the feline noticed that the petting had stopped, it looked up and noticed the former Oathmaster's eyes were glazed, and she sat frozen, with her petting hand just above the feline's head.
After awhile, Biccon Winters' eyes returned to normal, and she shook her head. As she looked over her feline companion, she sheepishly said, "so sorry about that; I just had a rather interesting vision."
As the Nova Cat looked at her enquiringly, she continued, "I found myself in front of a forked road, with each road leading to a massive viewing screen, and two Nova Cats in front of me. One had the Star League insignia, the other without. The one with the insignia then started walking towards the left road, before going into the viewing screen there."
She then shruddered, as she looked up and said, "that was when the viewing screen showed our fate if we sided with the reborn SLDF; we would have lost everything. I saw the other Clans, especially the Crusader-aligned ones, gang up and attack us with impunity, and treated as dezgra, and by the time we made our escape, we have lost warriors, resources, and most importantly, our dignity. We were nothing more than a client state under the "protection" of the Draconis Combine, gaining the ire of the Ghost Bears. In our attempts to foolishly regain whatever honor we have lost, we would have continually sacrificed everything to the Dragon's cause, with little or no gain. Once the Dragon has no use for us, they unleashed nukes on us, and at that point, Clan Nova Cat was no more."
As Biccon allowed her tears to fall, the Nova Cat looked at her worriedly and offered its right paw to her hand. During that time, the former Oathmaster shed tears for those caught in that cataclysmic timeline, both for warriors and non-combatants.
After a while, enough tears were shed, and Biccon thanked the Nova Cat. She then continued, "After that, everything on the left path turned charcoal black, before crumbling into dust, and disappearing. The remaining Nova Cat in my vision proceeded to move to the right path, before entering the viewing screen there. Only one picture showed up on the viewing screen; a picture of a Nova Cat, standing strong and proud, on top of a cliff, while looking at a setting sun."
"In a way, that picture somewhat represents our Clan's present situation; strong, proud, and most importantly, free to make our own decisions", said Biccon as she put away her tea set, and continued petting the Nova Cat's head. "That said, you want a belly rub?"
The oversized feline looked at Biccon for a second, and then made its way to the table in front of her, and flopped its body on it, with its belly exposed. Biccon proceeded to pet said belly, earning a purr from the prone Nova Cat. Both Nova Cats, human and feline, spent the rest of the night content with each other's company, and content that the future of Clan Nova Cat is in good hands.
