Introduced in the middle of the 3rd SW the Mangin IFV was intended to provide FS mechanized infantry with a fast transport capable of direct fire support of the dismounted troops. Unfortunately large-scale infantery/armor formations were starting to fall out of favor at the time with operations moving towards small mech formations to save transport costs.

However thanks to its relatively low cost and excellent AA capability (the design team having made an effort to make the main gun and T&T system dual-purpose) militias on a number of border worlds have acquired several companies of the vehicle to defend less capable units from air attack.

The CB-29 variant goes all in on the AA aspect, removing the infantry compartment to fit a LRM5 in the turret. But the space taken up by the launcher and cronic problems with smoke leaking into the crew compartment from missile launches makes this variant unpopular with crews.

For the AA variant, I might recommend dropping to an AC/2 and adding a second LRM-5... ;)

Arguably, yes... But I've already made at least one vehicle like that, and "just add a LRM rack" does make more sense for a simple modification.

Given the number of vehicles in this thread, not unexpected!
