Name pretty much says it all.  Something simple that would allow infantry to have a bit more then 2-4 movement.   Saw a great little mini documentary of ww2 motorcycle units hehe

I'd add a picture for reference but I've forgotten how to do so 😔 😕

Quick and dirty: (edit: Not that quick. I decided to generate an image for it using Copilot and write some quick fluff)

(Loosely based on the Zero MMX currently used by the United States Marine Corps)

Oreamnos Scout Bike

Mass: 0.308 tons

Movement Type: Wheeled

Power Plant: CM-Force 41
Cruising Speed: 118.8 kph
Maximum Speed: 183.6 kph
Armor: N/A
Armament:N/A
Manufacturer:Ceres Motors
Primary Factory: Tikonov
Communication System: N/A
Targeting & Tracking System: N/A
Introduction Year: 2424
Tech Rating/Availability:C/B-C-B-B
Cost: 2,099 C-bills

Overview
The Oreamnos is a rugged, reliable, off-road motorcycle in use by militaries, non-governmental organizations, and civilians since its start of production in the mid-25th century. During that time it, or license-built copies of it, became nearly ubiquitous throughout the Inner Sphere.

Capabilities
The Oreamnos is a rugged vehicle capable of sustained off-road operation. Its battery power makes it nearly silent on the battlefield. This also simplifies logistics as it is capable of charging from nearly any source of electricity, even from residential power grids.

It is known for its nimbleness and speed as well. It is capable of cruising at well over 100 kph on level ground. Like most off-road vehicles it carries only a single rider, though the integrated cargo container used for mission equipment can be easily removed to allow a passenger to ride on the support rack beneath it.

History
The Oreamnos began life in the Capellan Confederation in the mid-25th century. It was an iteration of an older bike, the Myn, which had been in use and manufactured on Tikonov since the days of the old Tikonov Grand Union.

The Oreamnos was a simple but significant improvement on its parent design. Accordingly, the Capellan Confederation began incorporating it into its motorized scout units nearly immediately.

After this other nearby militaries adopted it as well. The Principality of Regulus, Taurian Concordat, and Outworlds Alliance all began to either import the bike or build license-built copies within a decade of its release. Mercenaries and other non-governmental entities began adopting it soon after. A civilian version was marketed as early as 2430 and it became an immediate commercial success.

A particular source of the success was the Terran Hegemony. Consumers there appreciated the durability and build quality of the design, and its manufacture in the Confederation meant that it often sold for considerably less than domestic equivalents. It popularity was high enough to give Ceres Manufacturing a significant foothold within the Hegemony, which it would eventually parlay into military contracts there.

I designed this to have about 40 kg of on-board storage for mission equipment and personal gear. I figure that accounts for things like panniers.

I love it... especially the cost.  2100 c-bills makes it very believable to have small units of these as scouts/raiders.

I've attached an image of one of my original inspirations from ww2 for something a bit more complex.  Driver, with two potential passengers (behind driver and in sidecar).  Despite being a bit of a military history buff, I only recently learned that many motorcycle troops had small trailers to carry supplies or extra gear for longer treks.

The Wind personal VTOL is something like a faster motorcycle for more dimensions.

The role of the MG carrying sidecar has pretty much been replaced by ATVs, and with good reason since the 3-wheel layout of the sidecar is less stable. Here's what I have:

Ok, if I've done my math right (a significant caveat, since I don't do Support Vehicles that often), at TL D you can get a battery powered (i.e. quiet) bike for VERY cheap.  I included 2 kg of cargo to ensure room for a Solar Recharger (which is only 1.5 kg, but you round to the nearest kg for Small Support Vehicles):
Code: [Select]

Why? It makes it cheaper and lighter.

Lighter and more expensive... the multiplier for Ultralight is multiplied into the factors.

Lighter and more expensive... the multiplier for Ultralight is multiplied into the factors.

But its ultimate cost is reduced, for it reduces weight by a half, so having a x1.5 modifier does not change the fact that it makes the unit cheaper.

So first didn't go as light as some people as trailers have a minimum weight of 100kg. If i went that light for the attachments speed would be seriously affected.

That's not what I found... mine came in at 178 C-Bills.  The chassis was only 8 kg to start, so Ultralight wasn't worth it.

Is the techmanual updated and also supports for the support vehicles less than 100kg? On TM all I could see is the minimum at 100kg even for the small SV.

So first didn't go as light as some people as trailers have a minimum weight of 100kg. If i went that light for the attachments speed would be seriously affected.

Ural Series Scout Bike- MP of 11/17 using a Fuel Cell Engine. 275kg all around 1 point BAR2 armor. Has off road and amphibious. 2 trailer hitches one for trailer one for sidecar.

I suggest to consider the pillion seat(less enclosed seat and TM mentioned hovercycle or sidecar as the example) if you want a 'classic' sidecar instead of a trailer. As you pointed out, sadly the weight of the support vehicle is 100kg at minimum so it cannot correctly represent the additional vehicle parts without heavy weights.

And I agree that the capability to tow a trailer would be useful feature for this, for it is possible to tow many things, such as semi-portable emplacement and/or field guns, or even the other bikes that was bogged downed. A 100kg sidecar isn't suited for the typical sidecar, but as a gun platform module it is worth a look and is not so strange either.

That's not what I found... mine came in at 178 C-Bills.  The chassis was only 8 kg to start, so Ultralight wasn't worth it.

Well ultralight cuts off the overall weight of the chassis in half, and adds a x1.5 modifier on cost, so it alone would reduces the costs by about 25%( 1/2*1.5=0.75). Although it isn't the case on the most times, for the other chassis modifier also affects the cost modifier along with ultralight's modifier as well and the ultimate value it reduces would be varied.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Asides, is the cost modifier on the chassis the addition, or the multiple? For example, if you have a support vehicle with Bicycle(x0.75) and Off-Road(x1.2) modifiers and the chassis weights 20kg, is it 2500*(20/1000)*0.75*1.2 or 2500*(20/1000)*(1+0.75+0.2) ?

You multiply all the factors together, not add them.

Thanks. It wasn't clear on TM or I didn't found the sentence so I was really confused.

By the way, you want to make the SV lower than 100kg(the chart on TM says 0.1t as minimum even for the small SV) but was it allowed at a point and I didn't noted for that, or there is nothing but using the same fomula cause no problems at all when making something below of 100kg?

Ah, I missed that minimum on chart (TM, page 120).  The Support Vehicle Structure Weight Formulae is on page 122 and has all the factors multiplying together, as explained in the text on page 123:

...then multiply that result by each chassis modification multiplier that the designer wishes to apply.

Oh... that was what I didn't noted.

And I didn't want to say that less than 100kg is ridiculous. We do have seen many vehicles less than 100kg as well.

This is probably the cheapest and most basic option.

The Dirt Bike (125kg)
B/B-C-B

Bicycle chassis with off-road modification (22kg)
ICE (8/12; 64kg)
1406 km range (9kg)
Pillion seat (25kg)
Cargo (5kg)

BV: 7
Cost: 288

Okay, this is THE dirt bike everyone thinks of when it comes to dirt bikes from pre-spaceflight.  It is
simple to build and maintenance is ridiculously easy.  This machine is so common you can find it anywhere
ranging from Terra to the fringes of the Periphery and beyond.  Even dead worlds that had any industry
in the past will have a few warehouses of these things.  Other than cosmetic differences, someone with
a basic toolkit and an owner's manual can keep it in good working order.  Parts are easy to find so it
can be the go-to motorcycle for just about anything you need or want a motorcycle for.  Fair warning,
though.  This thing can be a gas hog above 85 kph, so take the range it says it has with a grain of salt.

Quirks: Easy to maintain, ubiquitous, gas hog
