Do Superheavy mechs get the terrain bonuses from standing in a woods hex?
My assumption is 'yes' and I'll detail why with page references, but wanted to get some developers eyes on how this interacts.
A) Per the terrain height and depth rules (Total Warfare 10th printing page 100)
Light and heavy woods count as 2 levels high
B) Per the Superheavy height rules (Interstellar Operations: Alternate Eras page 153)
A terrain feature must rise to at most one level below a superheavy mechs height for the superheavy mech to receive cover modifiers (worded as 'do not receive any cover modifiers for terrain that stands 2 levels or more below their current height.')
C) Per terrain modifiers rules (Total Warfare 10th printing page 107)
Standing in a light or heavy woods provides +1/+2 for units standing in them (no mention of height requirements mentioned for this modifier) and then says 'In addition, modify the to-hit number by +1/2 per hex of light/heavy woods intervening between the attacker and the target. (check intervening line of sight)
So 1) 'standing in a woods hex' doesn't have height limits (C)
And 2) even if there were height limits, light/heavy woods still apply because they are one-or-less levels shorter than the superheavy mech (A), the same way depth 2 water still applies partial cover to a superheavy mech (B)
(And obviously, woods between attacker/defender still need to check for intervening LOS to see whether those woods apply, so (assuming everything at level 0) a heavy woods hex in front of a Superheavy would not apply since it is taller than the trees.)
