At dawn, Galaxy Commander Jocelyn Vong ordered her Galaxy to once again begin the advance deeper into the dense woods. An hour after what would be sunrise, except the dense woods blocked most of the sunlight, the first spotting of an enemy occurred. It was just a glimpse, but the Elemental spotted what appeared to be a guard change occur. The information was relayed to Galaxy Commander Jocelyn Vong.

During the night, Colonel Sully moved his 1st Argyle Lances closer to the dense woods but spread them out a little further than he usually would to catch any that tried to make a run for it.

Inside the woods, Adept Lance Prevoy led his patrol of Achileus suited troops around the large perimeter that was the 25th Division's base camp since they were alerted to the arrival of enemy forces in system. By sure luck, his patrol had passed 250 meters behind the leading edge of Zeta Galaxies line and were now closing on Duke Mitchell's Command Battalion. Suddenly, the suits advanced sensors detected the presence of mechs just 350 meters away. Adept Prevoy did not even think about things as he made the radio call alerting his commander.

The resulting flurry of activity beyond the sentry line alerted the Elementals of Zeta Galaxy that something was up. The first enemy mech to make contact with Zeta Galaxy was a Toyama that literally stumbled into a point of Ghost Bear Elementals who quickly swarmed the enemy mech. This created a surge effect as Zeta Galaxy no longer hesitated and began rushing the enemy perimeter. The dense woods prevented use of their SRM's and even created hazards with the use of their jump jets, but as a thousand Elementals swarmed into the enemy encampment, the sounds of battle began echoing inside the dense woods.

It was as though someone had kicked a fire ant nest as enemy personnel began appearing everywhere one looked. As the Elementals entered the main enemy encampment, the area opened up as the enemy had brought down selected trees to open the area up, but still provide a dense top cover. Machine gun fire rattled across the camp as Elementals so armed opened fire on scrambling enemy personnel. The fiercest fighting occurred in the area of 1st Claw as they entered the area of the enemy Battle Armor unit. It was Elemental versus Achileus, but the Achileus were outnumbered and outmatched from the outset.

When Duke Mitchell's Command Battalion finally reached the enemy encampment, chaos really took hold as they began wading into the enemy like some unstoppable flood. Massive UAC/20 and LBX20 inflicted massive damage on any enemy Mech struck. As Scott jockeyed his Thor in an attempt to get a clear shot, he was constantly thwarted as members of his Command Battalion kept side stepping into his path, almost deliberately. Finally he had enough "Dammit Kelly, get the hell out of my way before I blast you."

"Sorry sir, just trying to follow my orders." Was the reply he got as the Kingfisher was rocked by several hits. But Scott was able to use the split second to push past Kelly and targeted the Thug that had fired on Kelly. He triggered his LBX20 and CERLL at the enemy Thug. His CERLL slashed the Thug's right leg but the LBX20 ripped most of the armor off the Thug's right arm. The enemy Thug stumbled but remained on it's feet, but then Kelly's Kingfisher B landed it's hits. The UAC/20 firing at maximum ripped deep into the Thug's left torso while the CERML's chewed up the left arm and left leg. These massive hits coming so soon after Scott's hits caused the enemy pilot to lose control and the Thug crashed into the ground. But before the Thug could regain it's footing, Kelly had advanced close enough and aimed his right arm at the Thugs head and fired the UAC20 at almost point blank range. The headless Thug crashed back to the ground. Kelly barely broke stride as he continued moving into the enemy encampment.

Scott returned to seeking threats and fired a cluster round at a group of enemy infantry that looked like they were getting organized. When the dust and smoke cleared, the only thing remaining was a few bloody helmets and blood covered weapons. He caught movement from the corner of his cockpit view and dodged to the right, stepping behind a large tree as enemy weapons fire shattered a tree opposite of where he had been standing. When he stepped back out, ready to engage, he saw an enemy Anvil with it's lifeless pilot being dragged from the cockpit by Battle Armored troops from his Battle Armor Trinary's.

Scott quickly counted over 20 enemy mechs down in the huge cleared area under the thick canopy. But he also saw 25-30 Elementals down and several of his Battle Armored troops down. A Turkina stood silent, the cockpit a smoking ruin, hardly a scratch anywhere else on it. He regained his thoughts and began moving after his command.

Across the continent, under the cover of darkness, 800 Elementals of the 2nd MDF Galaxy and 4 Battle Armor Regiments from the 2nd and 4th MAG RCT's had begun infiltrating the capitol city of Tegea. The first buildings they entered brought their fears to reality as they discovered many civilians inside of them. Word was sent back to Marshal Daly. Upon receiving the news of the civilians, Marshal Daly cussed and reached for the radio.

"This is Marshal Daly, commander of the 6th Davion Guards RCT and overall ground command of this Task Force. I am calling for the evacuation of civilians from the city. We have no wish to see civilians harmed, but we will take this city." He released the mic button and rebroadcast his call several times over the next hour, but the radio remained silent. Cursing softly, he switched to the secure command frequency "Take the city."

For 6 hours the MDF/AFFC forces battled their way into the city. It was brutal and bloody fighting. And by nightfall, they had only advanced 2 blocks into the large city. It was going to be a long fight.

Precentor Sariana Pryor, commander 25th WoB Division had been caught off guard by the sudden attack on her base camp, but she had quickly recalled her forces in their prepared ambush positions. She commanded the weakest Division on planet and only had 3 Level III to deploy. Only a single Level III of Mechs, one of Armor and one Infantry and Battle Armor. It quickly became apparent that her Division was completely outmatched by the enemy. Reports of Clan Elemental's everywhere anyone turned finally caused her to order a breakout, leave the dense forest and take her chances on the open plains. The first WoB units to leave the forest were met with withering fire from ground units and strafed mercilessly from the air.

By nightfall, Clan Ghost Bear and Scott's Command Battalion had linked up with the 1st Argyle Lancers. Losses were heavier than Scott would have liked.

  Zeta Galaxy
 1st Claw - 42 KIA, 33 WIA
 2nd Claw - 19 KIA, 27 WIA
 3rd Claw - 16 KIA, 35 WIA

  Command Battalion
3 Omni Mechs destroyed, 2 pilots KIA, 4 WIA
22 BA KIA, 44 BA WIA

Scott has to learn that it is not about a fair fight; it is not even about having a fight.

With the WOB it is about pest control only.

The battle for the capitol city of Tegea had been raging for the last 48 hours. The combined MDF/AFFC forces had battled their way house by house and block by block. Though they tried extremely hard to avoid it, collateral damage to civilian structures and to the civilians themselves was higher than they wanted. There were confirmed reports of MDF/AFFC casualties where the soldiers sacrificed themselves trying to rescue and safeguard civilians as the advance progressed into the city.

Duke Scott Mitchell had allowed several Taurian news crews to interview himself, Marshal Daly and even accompany troops into the city, if they so desired. Scott had already been notified via fax that several news crews had been brought into Mackolla to film the devastation and recovery efforts. They even interviewed some of the mercenary POW's, who were not very happy about being sent on a one way suicide mission there. The news stories were scheduled to be broadcast on the 1st of June. The 1st Argyle Lancers had been lifted to the northern continent to sweep it for hostiles.

Large refugee camps had been established to house the civilians brought out from the capitol city, aid stations were working hard to care for the flood of wounded to get them stabilized enough to be transported to the 2 hospital ships Scott had ordered moved into the system. They had also brought with them several experts to examine the unknown warships in the shipyards. They were currently conducting their examinations.

  Dicullas

Task Force Wolf, as it was now known had entered orbit several hours ago and now were conducting their landing operations. Alpha, Delta Regiments along with Zeta Battalion made their landings on the main continent while Clan Nova Cat landed across the 2 smaller continents with 2 Clusters on each while the 3 remaining Clusters remained in orbit as a fast reaction force.

The defending 14th WoB Division under the command of Precentor XX Mary Stahl was a large Division of 6 Level III's. She had built extensive fortifications for her Division to fight from. She had 4 Level III's here on the main continent and a Level III on each of the other 2 continents. In addition, she commanded Sathen's Snipers, mercenary command.

Clan Nova Cat's 1st and 2nd Carabinieri Cluster's landed on one of the smaller continents and quickly moved on the city of 45,000 located there. The WoB Level III assigned to the continent made the mistake of deploying to meet the invaders and in a sharp 3 hour battle were eliminated to the last man.

Clan Nova Cat's Nova Cat Irregulars and Nova Cat Renegades Cluster's landed on the other continent and initially met no resistance. But Aerial Recon spotted the enemy Level III there and both Clusters moved to engage. The Nova Cat Renegades, made up of former Jaguar warriors plunged headlong into the enemy Level III and did not take any prisoners. The few that tried to escape ran into the Nova Cat Irregulars Cluster and were destroyed.

Wolf's Dragoon's slammed into the defenses of the 14th Division like a sledge hammer but were thrown back by the formidable defenses. Commander Wolf, seeing the main defenses were too close to civilians for orbital fire, ordered the Task Forces Aerospace Fighters to conduct extensive strikes on the defensive lines. Several hundred Dragoon Aerospace fighters along with 70 Clan Nova Cat fighters would, for the next 3 days, conduct around the clock strikes on the defensive lines. In the meantime, he ordered the 3 Clusters in orbit to join his Dragoon's for the coming assault.

  Around the Sphere

  Tamar

Khan Vlad Ward was still irritated by Clan Ghost Bear's retaliation for the Hell's Horses attacks upon them. But he knew he could not take on the Bear's in an all out war. He studied the huge map displayed. Clan Coyote now had almost 60% of their Touman on the worlds gifted to them. All he had left in the Home Worlds was Omicron Galaxy. Along his Periphery holdings, he had the worthless Omega Galaxy filled with every warden minded warrior left in his Touman. The Galaxy Commander Stevic Hawker was a major pain in his ass. The entire Galaxy was a pain in his ass. Years ago the 11th Battle Cluster, the center piece of the Galaxy had been taken by the Wolves in Exile and that still irked Khan Ward.

But most important of all, the factories he had managed to get out of the Home Worlds. They had just arrived aboard the CCS Midnight Star, Potemkin Transport. She carried Wolf Site 1 and 2 from Strana Mechty, Wolf  Armorworks and the W-5 Facilities from Eden, W-7 Factory from Tranquil, WC Facility 5 from Tiber. These factories once completed would allow his Touman to once again grow strong and not have to wait for transport of finished equipment from the Home Worlds.

  New Oslo

saKhan Silas Kufahl continued with his current task of getting Clan Coyote settled on their new Inner Sphere holdings. The arrival of the CCS Morning Star, Potemkin Transport brought the last of Clan Coyote's manufacturing into the Inner Sphere. New Oslo would now, once they were all rebuilt, contain Ashton 'Mech Production Complex from Tamaron, Drennan Industriplex from Tamaron, Omega Orbital Production Plant from Tamaron, the old Coyote Industrial from Babylon, Landen, Picuris and Zuni 'Mech Production Complexes from Tamaron, Beta Plant 2W from Tamaron, Zuni 'Mech Production Complex from Foster.

Khan Sullivan Koga had traded Clan Snow Raven the Cameron Battlecruiser CCS Blood of the Coyote for a new jump core for the Texas Battleship CCS Ancestral Home which was just now being installed at great expense.

  Quatre Belle

Clan Snow Raven's first official enclave was settled and efforts to restore the Quatre Belle Naval Yards had begun. This was made even easier since the Outwarlds Alliance had already established a shipyard complex in the system along with the one at Alpheratz. The next enclave would be established on Ramora with half of the next wave of Clan Snow Raven lower caste of 2.8 million. The other half would be settled on Alpheratz.

Duke Scott Mitchell was tired of the ugly casualties being suffered in the city fighting. In response, he had ordered the 2nd MDF Galaxy to pull back and open a huge hole in the encircling forces on the 28th. Since then, he had worried that the WoB defenders would ignore the gaping hole, but finally, today they staged a breakout and at least 3 Level III's made a break for the plains, leaving the city of death behind them. As the WoB forces staged their breakout, the 2nd and 4th Mackolla Armored Grenadiers surged thru the city in pursuit.

Precentor Kane led his remaining forces in his Toyama at a full run. As they poured onto the plains and the city faded into the distance, a surge of elation at being alive flooded thru him. He had kept a careful eye on the sky, fearing either a massive orbital strike or for the vast swarms of Aerospace fighters to descend and wreak havoc upon them. After a heart stopping run of 40km, his Toyama crested a rise and he brought it to a stuttering halt. His heart almost stopped in his chest at the sight below him not a kilometer away, vast ranks of Omni Mechs stood silently. A quick check of his displays showed an even larger mass of Omni Mechs rapidly closing in on them from behind.

Scott throttled his Thor forward and the front ranks parted before him, he did not need to check for he knew his Command Battalion was following close behind him. He slowed to a halt only 600 meters from the lead WoB mech, a Toyama. He switched to an open frequency and began to speak.

"This is Duke Scott Mitchell, Duke of the Outer March. Not long ago forces of the Word of Blake attacked my home of Mackolla. In doing so, they inflicted grievous losses upon my people. But we defeated those forces sent to attack us. In doing so, those very forces and your leaders who ordered that attack signed your death warrants. This was not the first attack upon my people by the Word of Blake, nor do I expect it to be the last. But here, on this plain, on this day, we remove a plague on not just my people but on people across the Inner Sphere. You will receive the same mercy that was shown my people, none, none at all."

When the broadcast ended, Scott throttled his Thor into a dead run for the Word of Blake forces, his Command Battalion right behind him, behind them the 2nd MDF Galaxy broke into a run some quickly closing the distance with their Duke. The 2nd and 4th Mackolla Guards also surged forward. Scott had reconfigured his Thor back into his favored D variant and hit the jump jets as he triggered a full alpha strike at the Toyama. His targeting computer aided his already good aim and both CERLL removed the mechs head in the first volley.

Seeing their commander felled in the first shots fired caused the remaining WoB troops to attempt to flee in every direction, but escape was impossible. With so few targets to be had, entire stars targeted single enemy mechs and ripped the hapless WoB troops apart. After felling the Toyama, Scott had halted his Thor and watched his forces obliterate the WoB troops. In only 27 minutes, the last defenders of Sterope were destroyed. He watched as surviving WoB troops scrambled for safety, only to be hunted relentlessly by the MDF forces and dispatched.

   Antallos

Khan Barbara Sennet, Clan Diamond Shark, shook off the jump effects. She watched as other ships of her clan materialized all around her flagship CDS Terror of the Deep, Nightlord Battleship. With her were:

  CDS Titanic - Potemkin Transport
CDS True Sight - Potemkin Transport (former Cloud Cobra)
CDS Wisdom of Ages - Potemkin Transport (former Cloud Cobra)
CDS Nagasawa - Sovetskii Soyuz Cruiser
  CDS Devourer - Carrack Transport
  CDS Sharon - Essex Destroyer
CDS Predator - Lola III Destroyer
  CDS Bloodlust -  Aegis Cruiser
CDS Bold Venture - Volga Transport
  80 Monolith Jumpships
  65 Star Lord Jumpships
  45 Invader Jumpships
  30 Odyssey Jumpships

It was every ship that Clan Diamond Shark had in the Home Worlds. Crammed aboard this armada were 27 million of her Clans Lower Caste, Scientists and the remaining Clusters of her Touman. The most important were aboard the CDS Titanic, the last factories from their former holdings in the Home Worlds. They had been forced to trade several smaller factories for additional Monolith Jumpships.

Only 250,000km from the large armada, the FCS Randolph, Fox II Corvette hovered in space. Silently gathering in data from it's passive sensors. Her commander, Captain Vincent Hansley, said a small prayer as he made the broadcast. "This is Captain Vincent Hansley, commander of the FCS Randolph. I bear greetings from Archon Prince Victor Steiner Davion and welcome Clan Diamond Shark to the Inner Sphere. Do you have any needs?"

The broadcast caused a stir aboard every vessel in the armada. Sensors quickly located the source of the broadcast. Khan Barbara Sennet ordered her forces to remain calm as she was handed the radio. "This is Khan Barbara Sennet. Is Archon Prince Victor Steiner Davion aboard your vessel?"

"No Khan Sennet, he sent us to meet you. We will guide your convoy thru the Federated Commonwealth to your new homes."

"We are in need of food, water and supplies. I was about to send parties to the planets surface to make arrangements." Khan Sennet replied

"No need Khan Sennet. Do not be alarmed, but in about an hour you will register a large emergence wave arriving 100,000km from your nearest ships. It will consist of 2 more Fox II Corvettes escorting 12 Monolith Jumpships loaded with food, water and supplies for your convoy. This is freely given and without any debt, it is only right for friends to help friends." Captain Hansley stated, then continued "Another supply convoy will be awaiting us halfway to your new home." Captain Hansley turned to the MIIO agent "Send the coordinates to the awaiting ships please."

Minutes later the black box sent it's fax to the awaiting supply convoy who immediately began their jump procedures.

47 minutes later, the first Monolith Jumpship materialized 124,000km from the Clan Diamond Shark convoy, followed quickly by 11 more and both Fox II Corvettes as escort. Except for the Fox II Corvettes, every ship bore the name Mitchell Interstellar Shipping. Within minutes, 40 Mammoth, 40 Steamer and 28 Aqueduct Dropships began detaching and making their way towards the Clan Diamond Shark fleet.

Even with the destruction of the main defenders on planet, it still took another 2 days of fighting to defeat the remaining WoB infantry and battle armor still within the capitol of Tegea. Today, Tegea was declared secure. Marshal Daly ordered 2 engineer regiments to enter the city and assist the civilian fire fighters in putting out several raging fires while ordering 2 Infantry regiments to also begin search and rescue within the devastated city.

Scott was back aboard the MDF Mackolla and had ordered the Support Squadron to begin the journey to Sterope under the protection of the 1st MDF Galaxy and it's warship squadron. It would take 3 weeks for them to make arrive. But he also had a huge problem on his hands, his Task Force had captured 19,156 personnel when they captured the 2 Newgrange Yardships and the shipyard complex. A demon inside of him said to space the lot of them, but another part said it would make him just as evil as the enemy he was fighting. For now, he shelved the problem and focused on selecting their next targets. The few intel personnel he had was confident that they had destroyed, except for Orkney, most of the known WoB forces in the Taurian Concordat.

Scott sent a message for Task Force Wolf to prepare to move from Dicallus and begin striking targets controlled by the Taurian Defense Force. He then sent a message to every world in the Taurian Concordat that that any worlds or forces loyal to Grover Shraplen would become targets for his Task Forces. Maybe he could peel some support from Grover Shraplen.

  Detroit

After almost a year of being occupied by the Sirian Lancers, there were no longer protests against them. The first few protests had been met with violence and many killed or injured. Now, the people of Detroit just went about their lives. Not that the people wanted the Word of Blake around, hardly, but they did not have anywhere else to turn. Most prayed for the day someone would remove the Word of Blake from their world.

Production from the planets factories went to the Taurian Concordat or Word of Blake forces. All shipments to the Magistracy of Canopus had been ended.

  Bamburgh

Colonel Keith Lomax, commander of Beta Regiment, Wolf's Dragoons, wished he was with the rest of the Dragoon's but focused his attention on safeguarding the Dragoon civilians along with rebuilding Beta Regiment as best he could. Though at first skeptical of the intentions of Duke Mitchell and those loyal to him, he had come to actually like and respect them. The equipment provided to his limited forces were top notch. He had even been allowed to recruit from the planet's academy which netted him another company of mechwarriors, 2 companies of tankers and a battalion of infantry.

Although green troops, they were superbly trained and highly motivated troops. Several former Dragoon recruiters, once retired, had returned to active duty and were on their way to smaller hiring halls to see what could be scrounged up. He had requested some transportation and within 2 weeks an old but in excellent condition Star Lord had arrived with several old but also in excellent condition Overlord Dropships and several Seeker Dropships. All painted and bearing Wolf's Dragoon's colors. At least this would allow his command to assist in the defense of the Outer March of they needed it. He and his Regiment had felt helpless during the assault on Mackolla. But today, he was about to make a request and he did not have any idea how it would be taken.

He knocked on the door of Hauptman General James Cunnard, who had finally come to Bamburgh from Mackolla to oversee the rebuilding of the Mackolla OMM. He entered when General Cunnard waved him inside.

"What brings you over Colonel Lomax? I hope there are no problems?" Cunnard asked

"No sir, none at all. I have a request, but have no clue on how this is going to come across. So, I am just going to come out and throw it on the table. I understand you still hold several thousand mercenary troops on Mackolla, those that took part in the assault there. From what I have gathered, those troops were not guilty of any war crimes but fought honorably. They just picked the wrong employer. I would like permission to recruit from those prisoners. I think we can find enough personnel within the to actually bring Beta Regiment back to a full Regiment." Colonel Lomax stated

Hauptman General James Cunnard leaned back in his chair, the very problem of those prisoners had been a thorn in his brain since fighting had ended. He had been forced to remove all MDF or anyone connected to Mackolla from guarding them, that task falling to troops from the 10th FedCom RCT.

"You realize the risk your taking, we don't know if WoB ROM planted any sleepers within them. They are alive ONLY because they were never implicated of any war crimes. Hell, I have a pissed off Nova Cat Elemental Trinary in orbit of Mackolla right now who would like nothing better than to execute every last one of them. It took a direct order from Khan West to get them back off on demands to hand them over.

But, I can see the reasoning in your request. I know there are some good personnel in the prisoners we captured. I am going to have those prisoners transferred over here. But, and I mean this Colonel Lomax, the first time one of those prisoners you might recruit steps out of line, wearing Dragoon colors or not, I will have the offender taken, by force if need be and executed without a seconds delay. I will allow you to give those prisoners a second chance at life, but caution them, we will never forget or forgive what happened on Mackolla, and they were a part of that. As far as we are concerned, they all have a death sentence on their heads and we are just waiting for them to screw up." General Cunnard said

"Thank you General Cunnard, I will so advise them. We have a lot of experience at weeding out those we deem undesirable and I do have a few Wolfnet people in my command." Colonel Lomax said as he drew himself to attention and exited the office.

I don't know... maybe recruit them into an associated unit... would the Dragoon's dilute their quality with those POWs?

Beta Regiment was basically destroyed on Outreach, just a handful of survivors from Beta, Gamma and Epsilon Regiments were recovered. So diluting their quality is hardly an issue really. Not right now anyway.

It sounds like a good idea to me, especially if ALL the prisoners are removed from Mackolla.

And when the plan is passed to Scott, that might solve his Newgrange problem too...  ^-^

She had her 2nd Carrier Squadron leap into the Zenith Jump Point while the 1st Battle Squadron took control of the Nadir Jump Point. As the leading ships materialized, they began broadcasting surrender terms to all shipping in the system and to both recharge stations. At the Zenith Jump Point, a single Merchant Jumpship attempted to flee and was swiftly destroyed by the FCS Sunburst, Buford II Corvette. The recharge station located at the Zenith Jump Point surrendered without incident along with 2 Star Lord, 4 Invader Jumpships.

At the Nadir Jump Point, 3 Star Lord, 2 Invader and 4 Merchant Jumpships surrendered without incident, but the recharge station refused to surrender and was boarded by AFFC Marines and captured after several hours.

Once both jump points were under AFFC control, Fleet Admiral Miranda Steiner called for the invasion fleet to enter the system. Several hours later, 4 Tarawa LF Transports and 8 Monolith LF Jumpships emerged at the Zenith Jump Point carrying the Davion Assault Guards RCT, Davion Light Guards RCT, 1st and 2nd Davion Guards RCT. The dropships carrying the detached and escorted by the 2nd Carrier Squadron they began the 7 day journey to the Irian III.

  Connaught

In support of the Federated Commonwealth offensive, the SLDF 250th Battlemech Division came into the Connaught system escorted by the 4th Battle Squadron, 2nd AFFC Fleet along with the 17th Arcturan Guards RCT. Both recharge stations surrendered without incident and the ground forces began their journey to the planet.

Kyrkbacken - 3rd and 4th Crucis Lancers RCT
Ascuncion - 5th and 6th Crucis Lancers RCT
Bernardo - 7th and 8th Crucis Lancers RCT

Launching from Second Try, Suzano was targeted by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd FedCom RCT's. Awaiting on Second Try, were also the 4th, 5th , 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th FedCom RCT's for follow on strikes.

  Kalidasa

From the Lyran half of the Federated Commonwealth, the 1st and 2nd Carrier Squadrons along with the 1st Battle Squadron of the 1st AFFC Fleet escorting a large invasion force consisting of the 2nd, 4th and 5th Donegal Guards RCT's came in at both jump points and quickly seized the systems recharge stations. The ground forces began moving to the planet escorted by the 1st and 2nd Carrier Squadrons.

  Connaught

The SLDF 250th Battlemech Division came down on the continent of Leitrim and immediately moved on the city of Skellig, which also had the large Kong Interstellar manufacturing plants. The 17th Arcturan Guards RCT landed on the continent of Galway and moved on the planets capitol of Ranelagh.

The planets militia surprisingly stayed inside their main base near Skellig instead of attempting to stand against the 250th Battlemech Division. The Kong Interstellar manufacturing facilities were captured with out serious incident, except for a small skirmish by the plant's security force which was quickly pushed aside. Leaving their Infantry Brigade to keep the Kong facility secure, the 250th Battlemech Division prepared to redeploy to assist the 17th Arcturan Guards RCT.

Near the capitol of Ranelagh, the defending 18th Marik Militia, commanded by Colonel Julie Kiel and the "mercenary" Romanov's Crusaders, commanded by Colonel Sir Kripsin Romanov manned the defensive positions surrounding the capitol of Ranelagh. Leutnant General Davis Lillie, commander of the 17th Arcturan Guards RCT openly broadcast a message in an attempt to get them to stand down.

"This is Leutnant General Davis Lillie, commander of the 17th Arcturan Guards RCT. By order of Archon Prince Victor Steiner Davion I am offering you the chance to save your commands. Our fight is not against those that stand for the good of their people, but with those that support and maintain the Word of Blake. We have no wish to fight those that only serve their nation, even if that nation is aiding the Word of Blake."

It took only a few minutes for a response to come back. "We have no love for the Word of Blake, we serve the people of the Free Worlds League. It is our duty to defend this planet from aggressors."

"We are aggressors only if you make us be. I think things would be better served if we meet in person, don't you?" Leutnant General Davis Lillie said

"Agreed, we will meet with you. Tomorrow at 9am, we will leave our defensive lines under a white flag."

"Your safety is assured. I will have coffee waiting."

The 250th Battlemech Division boarded their dropships and made a sub-orbital trip to join the 17th Arcturan Guards RCT during the night. Major General Malcolm Feinman, commander of the 250th Battlemech Division approved of the attempt to get the planets garrison to give up without a fight. But he deployed his Division accordingly and the defenders now faced 7 Mech Regiments.

At exactly 9am the following morning, Colonel's Kiel and Romanov left their defensive lines and were escorted to the mobile command center being used by Major General Feinman and Leutnant General Lille. Following introductions and coffee being served, Leutnant General Lille began the discussions.

"As everyone heard yesterday, we are not here to fight loyal FWL units. Our fight is against those that have thrown their lot in with the Word of Blake. Both of your units will be allowed to maintain their equipment. Your mission is the same, defend Connaught from aggression. The Kong Interstellar plant will remain under SLDF/AFFC control for the duration of this campaign. The Federated Commonwealth will make sure supplies are delivered in a timely manner. Movement of your forces off world will be restricted of course. Now, I need your answers." Leutnant General Lille said

Both FWL commanders shared looks and then Colonel Romanov shrugged. Colonel Kiel spoke "We accept your terms General. We are loyal to the Free Worlds League and will do our duty."

"Thank you both for accepting and avoiding bloodshed. I will relay the news to Archon Prince Victor Steiner Davion and we will be preparing to move on then."

Galaxy Commander/Major General Brian Lossey, commander 473rd SLDF Division formerly Clan Nova Cat's Beta Galaxy., had learned much in the way's of the Inner Sphere during his time in the SLDF. But deep down, he was still a Nova Cat. He had broadcast his unit's intentions and been surprised when the defending 30th Marik Militia had denied his unit landing rights and had even declared that they would fire on any non FWL soldier spotted.

True to his roots, General Lossey ordered the 119th Striker Cluster and 211th Battle Cluster to perform a combat drop right onto the planet's space port outside the capitol of Crow's Nest. The 30th Marik Militia quickly learned what it was like to face Clan troops as the warriors of the 119th and 211th quickly returned fire with devastating effect. The 119th and 211th quickly pursued the retreating 30th Marik Militia into the capitol city of Crow's Nest, never allowing them a moment's rest. When the 30th Marik Militia fled the city itself, they ran headlong into the waiting arms of the 32nd Assault Cluster and 321st Battle Cluster which had performed a combat drop outside the capitol city.

Within 30 minutes of exiting the capitol city, the last mech of the 30th Marik Militia fell to the combined fire from the 473rd SLDF Division. Wing was under SLDF control.

  Bernardo

The 7th and 8th Crucis Lancers RCT hammered the Aerospace Wing of the 10th Marik Militia that rose to meet them. Ripping thru the Aerospace Wing, the 2 Crucis Lancers RCT made their landings on target, the 7th Crucis Lancers RCT targeted the Earthworks Incorporated facility while the 8th Crucis Lancers RCT targeted the Kallon Industries facility.

General Jacob Hasek, commander of the elite 7th Crucis Lancers RCT ordered his infantry brigade to take control of the Earthworks factory complex supported by his armored brigade. His reinforced Mech Regiment moved to counter any advances from the 10th Marik Militia.

Hauptmann General Jeremiah Marshall, commander of the 8th Crucis Lancers RCT basically did the exact same as the 7th Crucis Lancers. So when the 10th Marik Militia actually moved to prevent the capture of the production complexes, they ran headlong into the combined 8 Battalions of AFFC mechs. In a furious 5 hour battle, over 75% of the 10th Marik Militia was destroyed. It would take a further 2 weeks to pin down the remaining 25% for destruction.

And there's the other side of the coin... clearly the AFFC didn't get the propaganda from Connaught turned around fast enough.  Though I suppose contrasting the three worlds' results might have even more value going forward...

7-30 June 3067
     Irian

Under a massive Aerospace fighter escort, the AFFC ground forces made their landings on Irian. The Davion Assault Guards RCT and Davion Light Guards RCT landed on Bruin not far from the massive Irian Technologies massive factory complex. Hauptmann General Jon Buckvold, commander Davion Light Guards RCT ordered his Infantry Brigade under Hauptman General Angela Voss to take control of the massive factory complex.

The 1st and 2nd Davion Guards RCT's landed on Bruin also but their assigned targets were the Brooks factory, IMB Systems factory and Diverse Optics Incorporated factory. All told 11 Regiments of Infantry moved to secure the widely dispersed objectives.

The defending 7th Free Worlds Legionnaires along with the 4th WoB Division moved to contain the invasion forces. The 4th WoB Division had been reformed in 3065 but was only at 75% strength with 3 Level III's assigned to it. The 4th WoB Division commander, Precentor Damian Stuben had his unit stationed on the continent of Indran just outside the planet's capitol of Kirin River. With AFFC warships in orbit, he knew it would be suicide to attempt to reinforce the 7th Free Worlds Legionnaires on Bruin, so he ordered his command into their defenses around the capitol city.

The 7th Free Worlds Legionnaires under General Lucy Mountash attempted to engage the assaulting AFFC forces in a battle of maneuver but quickly found her command under repeated air strikes from AFFC fighters which severely hampered her efforts. The Davion Assault Guards just kept up the pressure on the 7th Free Worlds Legionnaires as the Davion Light Guards and elements from the 1st Davion Guards conducted wide sweeping movements in an attempt to encircle the defenders. It took 3 days to finally complete the encirclement due to the skilled maneuvering of the 7th Free Worlds Legionnaires by General Mountash under hugely adverse conditions. After repeated calls to surrender were ignored, Marshal Dixon Zibler, commander of the Davion Assault Guards and overall ground commander ordered the destruction of the 7th Free Worlds Legionnaires which was accomplished on the 8th day of the ground forces invasion.

After the continent of Bruin was declared secure, the Davion Assault Guards, Davion Light Guards and 2nd Davion Guards conducted a sub orbital movement to the continent of Indran and the capitol city of Kirin River. As the 2nd Davion Guards swept down the Kirin River Valley towards the capitol city, they came under massive nuclear strikes from the defending 4th WoB Division. Less than 20% of the 2nd Davion Guards survived the onslaught and had to be pulled back. Enraged by the use of nuclear weapons, Marshal Dixon Zibler ordered his Davion Assault Guards to attack under cover of a massive aerial attack on the capitol city of Kirin River. Several nuclear strikes knocked the Davion Assault Guards back, but they soon managed to breach the outer defenses and held the breach open as the Davion Light Guards to pour in and begin rolling up the WoB defenses.

It took 4 days of fighting which devastated the capitol city of Kirin River to finally destroy the 4th WoB Division. Which conducted several more nuclear strikes on the assaulting AFFC troops causing massive civilian casualties. With the fighting now over, the AFFC forces turned their attention to conducting massive relief efforts of the population of Kirin River which was now heavily contaminated along with the Kirin River Valley.

  Dubhe

The SLDF 474th Division landed on the 10th of June and quickly found that the defending Falcon command of the Silver Hawk Irregulars were not much of a match. In less than an hour of fighting, Colonel Glendon Lorch, commander of the Falcons surrendered her command tp prevent it's destruction after losing only 20% of her mechs. Interviews conducted confirmed that both commands of the Silver Hawk Irregulars wanted nothing to do with the Word of Blake.

 Kalidasa

The AFFC ground forces began their landings on the 10th of June. The 5th Donegal Guards RCT under Hauptmann General Ursa Potroy grounded near the Quikscell complex in an attempt to quickly seize it. Unfortunately, this was not to be as part of the 3rd WoB Division quickly hammered the 5th Donegal Guards Infantry Brigade and even managed to push the 5th Donegal Guards back. For 2 days the fighting raged among the massive Quikscell complex before elements of the 4th Donegal Guards RCT arrived and the surviving elements of the 3rd WoB Division faded away.

The elite 2nd Donegal Guards RCT performed a combat drop on the Kali Yama Weapons Industries factory complex and quickly overran the security defenses. When a Level III from the 3rd WoB Division appeared on the scene along with the Gryphons command of the Silver Hawk Irregulars, the 2nd Donegal Guards Mech Regiment supported by the units Armor Brigade and Aerospace Wing moved from the factory complex to meet them in open field battle. The elite 2nd Donegal Guards quickly battered the Level III from the 3rd WoB Division while it's Armor Brigade conducted a harassing battle on the Gryphons. Then the unexpected occurred, the Gryphons turned on the remaining units from the 3rd WoB Division and quickly destroyed them. The commander of the Gryphons, Colonel Petra Fisher, then surrendered her command to the 2nd Donegal Guards RCT.

Colonel Petra Fisher, under questioning, quickly revealed many of the 3rd WoB Divisions hidden bases and even offered to assist the AFFC forces in flushing them out. General Caesar Steiner considered the offer but declined politely, pointing out that this fight was between the WoB and the Federated Commonwealth currently. It took a further 3 weeks to flush the last WoB survivors from their hiding places and the planet to be declared secure.

  Zion

The defending 3rd Free Worlds Guards were fully compromised by the Word of Blake and fought the invading 1st and 2nd Crucis Lancers RCT's tooth and nail. But against the AFFC forces, they stood no match and were completely destroyed within a week of the AFFC grounding. It would be another 2 weeks before the AFFC would declare Zion secure.

  Kyrkbacken

The 3rd Free Worlds Legionnaires were another unit compromised by the Word of Blake. But their commander, General Pierre Mondou was a realist and immediately broke his unit into smaller pieces and conducted a plan of hit and run on the invading 3rd and 4th Crucis Lancers RCT. General Melissa Coulier, commander of the elite 3rd Crucis Lancers RCT and overall commander of the ground forces, had her forces quickly take control of the capitol city, but it would take 3 months to finally grind down the elusive 3rd Free Worlds Legionnaires and declare the planet secure. The 3rd and 4th Crucis Lancers RCT sustained roughly 35% casualties each during the savage hit and run campaign to take the planet.

  Ascuncion

The 5th and 6th Crucis Lancers RCT grounded and quickly managed to take control of the Kallon Industires complex and the Earthwerks Incorporated complex. The defending Steel Guards, under Colonel Marilyn Stroud, were fully compromised by the Word of Blake and dug in deep within the capitol city. Marshal Meshach Felsner, commander of the elite 5th Crucis Lancers RCT and overall ground commander ordered her commands to surround the capitol city. The 6th Crucis Lancers RCT hammered their way into the capitol city on the 19th of June and battled the skilled Steel Guards for control of the city. Both units were equally skilled in urban combat and it had a devastating effect on the capitol city. For 2 weeks the fighting raged inside the capitol city, but finally on 3 July, 3067 the planet was declared secure and the defending Steel Guard completely destroyed. The 5th Crucis Lancers sustained 27% casualties, but the 6th Crucis Lancers RCT sustained almost 65% casualties. The capitol city was a complete ruin.

  Suzano

The assaulting 1st FedCom RCT grounded on the planet and quickly forced the surrender of the defending militia units. Awaiting at the Nadir Jump Point, the 2nd and 3rd FedCom RCT's quickly moved on to their next targets.

 1 July 3067
   Sterope

Precentor Manfred von Ruffenul had been pissed when he learned of the attack on both Dicullas and Sterope. He had brought his squadron over from Comstar years ago and been assigned to safeguard the WoB forces in the Taurian Concordat. His squadron had been patrolling near Taurus itself when the word arrived about the assaults. Lacking LF batteries, his squadron had been forced to recharge after every jump but now they had finally made the jump to Sterope.

Shaking the effects of the jump off, he wished he was back at Taurus. His first glance at the ships plot board told him he had jumped his squadron right into the middle of a massive fleet. His squadron, though outnumbered, was still a powerful force to be reckoned with.

  WoBS Hollings York - Congress-class
  WoBS Avenging Sword - Aegis-class
  WoBS Deathblow - Essex-class
  WoBS Brandenburg Crusader - Essex-class
  WoBS Determination - Vincent-class

He did not have to give the order for battle stations because his ship, WoBS Hollings York had already fired a broadside into a enemy Corvette, heavily damaging the smaller warship. It was obvious that their emergence wave had warned the enemy fleet of their arrival, for as he watched the non-warships made leaps from the Nadir Jump Point. There were no real decisions to be made, for every ship in his squadron was already in action.

WoBS Brandenburg, Essex Destroyer maneuvered wildly as it was pummeled by fire from several larger warships.  It was struck repeatedly by heavy naval autocannons as it tried to give as good as it received. It raked an enemy Destroyer with everything it had, but it's target also raked it to much more devastating effect. Venting massive amounts of atmosphere, her captain ordered maximum speed and for the crew to abandon ship as he piloted the critically damaged Destroyer right into an enemy Corvette unlucky enough to be passing right in front of it, destroying both vessels.

WoBS Determination, Vincent Corvette never had a chance, materializing only 450km from a massive warship. Targeted immediately by the massive warship, the Vincent Corvette literally came apart from several sections as the massive warship unleashed an ungodly amount of fire at the much smaller vessel that had suddenly appeared so close to it.

WoBS Deathblow, Essex Destroyer, materialized close to a Nimitz II Carrier, which was launching fighters at a furious pace and raked the massive ship with it's FRS and RBS naval autocannons which ripped sheets of armor from the massive Carrier, but the return fire from the massive warship tore into the Essex Destroyer. A second volley from the Essex caused more damage but now the Carriers escorts and fighters were tearing into the Essex Destroyer. As the massive Destroyer shook repeatedly from enemy hits, the sudden call that they were being boarded sent shudders down everyone's spine. So cluttered were the ships display's, that no one had seen the incoming shuttles launched from the Carrier. Reports of enemy troops entering the engine room and then the sudden power loss signaled the end for all aboard.

WoBS Avenging Sword, Aegis Cruiser, had it slightly better, materializing outside of the main enemy force and the chaos erupting within at the sudden appearance of enemy warships right in their midst. Only she did have LF batteries and they were fully charged. Her captain ordered emergency jump procedures and calculations be made for the Zenith Jump point. He wanted to get the enemy transports. As his navigators made their calculations as fast as they could, he watched several enemy warships begin heading towards his ship, but they were still several thousand KM away. It would be a race.

WoBS Hollings York, Congress Frigate was coming apart at the seams under the relentless pounding from what seemed to be a never ending number of enemy warships targeting her. In desperation, she launched her full compliment of nuclear tipped White Sharks and Killer Whales at several enemy warships. One nuclear White Shark slammed into an enemy Corvette and detonated destroying the small warship, another was swatted down by enemy AMS, one Killer Whale detonated against the hull of what appeared to be an enemy Destroyer destroying it.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, power was lost all over the ship as the ships engine room was exposed to atmosphere and the ships reactors scrammed.

The race was almost over for the WoBS Avenging Sword as 4 enemy Corvettes entered range and began pelting the larger warship with naval laser fire. Then suddenly, the massive warship made it's jump and re-materialized at the Zenith Jump Point. Shouting a yell of victory, her captain ordered her to maximum thrust to rapidly close on the enemies transports 27,000km away.

The sudden jump of the WoB Aegis Cruiser was unexpected, but the transports and newly arrived Support Squadron were not alone. Ships from the 2nd Battle Squadron, 4th AFFC Fleet had been preparing to make a jump for the Nadir Jump Point when the enemy Aegis Cruiser jumped into the Zenith Jump Point. Quickly cancelling the jump, the 2nd Battle Squadron moved to intercept the enemy warship. The carriers launching their fighters as fast as they could.

At 9,000km, the AFFC Aerospace fighters started ripping the WoBS Avenging Sword to pieces. Without proper anti fighter defenses the Aegis Cruiser was at a severe disadvantage as hundreds of enemy fighters ripped into it. When it finally reached range, the WoBS Avenging Sword launched it's nuclear pay load on the enemy warships just starting to fire on it. Nuclear tipped White Sharks leaped from their launch tubes and quickly spanned the distance. Only 1 nuclear White Shark managed to get thru the storm of AMS fire and slammed into the FCS Baltimore, Victory II Cruiser and mangled the ships entire forward section. The Avenging Sword never had a chance to launch another volley as the AFFC warships and fighters tore the Aegis Cruiser apart until the ship finally surrendered.

Hours later, aboard the MDF Mackolla, Duke Scott Mitchell was horrified at the damage inflicted on his fleet.

MDF Calloway, Nimitz II Carrier - light damage
MDF Hamlin, Tortuga Destroyer - moderate damage
MDF William C. Lawe, Buford II Corvette - serious damage
MDF William R. Rush, Buford II Corvette - destroyed by ramming
MDF Laboon, Halsey II Destroyer - heavy damage
MDF James E. Kyes, Buford II Corvette - destroyed by nuclear
MDF Longbow, Arrow Destroyer - destroyed by nuclear
FCS Baltimore, Victory II Cruiser - serious damage nuclear

They had managed to capture or destroy:

WoBS Hollings York - Congress-class - captured, serious damage
WoBS Avenging Sword - Aegis-class - captured, severe damage
WoBS Deathblow - Essex-class - captured, severe damage
WoBS Brandenburg Crusader - Essex-class - destroyed ramming
  WoBS Determination - Vincent-class - destroyed

Early damage estimates said it would require several months before some ships were battle ready again. It was a major setback.

Oh nice update!  The March to Taurus is postponed?   Or will they continue?
