Suggestions for 2018 thread are now open. I will add peoples suggestions that can be done to this first post.
Just mechs, vehicles, Battle Armor, Mech Scale Aerospace Fighter, ProtoMechs and limited variant parts.
I will add this here as well, but small variant parts (just a arm or legs) and omni parts are not part of this thread. When I know more about there future inclusion I will announce it.
Please limit your suggestions to 2 in your post.
The new classics and resculpts are off limits for Fan Funding as of now.
Updated Fan Finance 2.0 Guidelines (http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=44107.0)
-
Pixiu Heavy Tank
Basilisk Quad Protomech
-
Banshee BNC-9S
Cuchulainn Support Armor
Sorry about the no resculpts thing, missed that the first time around.
-
SCG-WF1 Scourge
PXH-11K Phoenix Hawk L
-
CSR-F100 Picaroon
SCG-WF1 Scourge
-
Guys, don't forget, the OP says resculpts are off limits. :'(
-
First of all, many thanks for this initiative.
I would love to see those two:
Narukami heavy tank. It is a beautiful tank and it would look great in miniature form.
Swallow Attack Wige. It is a ME-262 with a LBX20. I can't understand why it is not in miniature form.
-
Hippogriff Protomech
Zibler Hovertank
-
Liberator (Mech) and Alfar.
Fixed!
-
Soyal Warship, and Alfar
Warships are not on the list of things we can submit.
-
I would love to see the support vehicles from MW1. In the Fan Funding 2.0 thread, Dak had mentioned it was a goal of his as well. Ideally all of them, but if I had to limit and narrow them down in order of preference:
1. Command Van
2. Heavy Transport (with alternate mounts for the machine gun, small laser, and SRM-2 versions)
3. Air Car
4. Jeep
-
SCG-WF1 Scourge
Ursa
Edited to change Leonidas BA to Ursa
-
- Kuma BattleMech (TRO:3085)
- Dasher II 1/2 BattleMech (TRO:3085). This could also be done as a set of variant arms for the Dasher II 3 rather than a whole second mech. I’d be fine with either one.
EDIT: Removed me rambling on for simplicity's sake!
-
Sarissa
Primitive Emperor
-
28mm I.S. Standard battle armor
Also, The battle armor option is for the small size not 28mm.
*grumble*
Swallow WIGE
Manta sub
-
Thug Jose
-
Celerity
Ursa
-
notos
antline edit - already in the pipe, change to AC2/LB-X carrier.
-
antline
The antlion is on the release schedule for this quarter. Don’t instant results feel great? :))

-

Harvester Ant Industrial
+ Militarization parts.
Edit: Removed two of the suggestions to bring it in line with OP request.
-
Hellcat II ASF
Marten VTOL
-
2 suggestions folks, per the original poster.
-
I second the Harvester Ant, we miss a farming workmech.
I'll also add the Hoplite 4X. Limited production/usage make it a good candidate.
-
Primitive Emperor
Buster militiamech
Edit: I forgot Dak already had this ready.
-
Pixiu Heavy Tank
Ursa URA-2A
-
Shen Long battle armor
Primitive Emperor [EDIT: I forgot about the Primitive Emperor not having a miniature, so I decided to edit my picks.]
[EDIT EDIT: Darn it, forgot about the Shen Long also!]
-
I have to go with Spaceman's choices as well;
CSR-F100 Picaroon
SCG-WF1 Scourge
-
ANH-2AX Annihilator
K-3N-KR4 Kiso
-
Could we also have a bonus-option to have the 20-9xx 25mm figures' production molds be remade? :)
-
Have to agree with Cache here, would like to see more 28mm stuff.
28mm Standard Inner Sphere Battle Armor
-
Fixing my earlier post to fit the rules.
Atlas II Devlin (A guy can dream)
Imp 1A

Please limit your suggestions to 2 in your post.
...resculpts are off limits for Fan Funding as of now.
Just a reminder to everyone, this whole thing does have rules that need to be followed. I don't know how Speck's gonna operate, but I do know two things:
1 If I were running this, I'd remove from consideration ALL posts made by people who decided they were too important to follow guidelines.
2: You can always go back and edit your posts.
For the record, that was me being subtle. :)
-
Could we also have a bonus-option to have the 20-9xx 25mm figures' production molds be remade? :)
That will be separate from this.

I vote for a Pair of the most beloved (by me) Helos in the game that have been neglected for over 25 year!!! Neglected I say, Neglected! hehe.
1. Ferret Light Scout Vtol (TRO3026)
2. Nightshade Vtol (TRO2750)
-
Well I might be too important to follow rules, so just a reminder that I have finished sculpts available that are still unfunded, including:
The carry-weapons Quickdraw, Porcupine, Volkh, Aquagladius, Daedalus, original S7 Flashfire, original S7 Onslaught, Buster MilitiaMech, Uni industrial Mech and MilitiaMech variants, J-37 Ordnance Transport, and introducing the availability of the MW1 Prime Mover!
Edit: And three variants of the Dark Age Padilla Artillery tank.
Dak
-
Dak, what page is the Prime Mover on? Am I confusing that with something else?
-
I would love a completed S7 set of the first print minis even by name!

Dak
I am not sure where the original S7 stuff falls since they got new art in the TRO.
-
I'll add votes for:
EMP-1A Emperor (Primitive)
Ferret Scout VTOL
-
The Prime Mover is in the color plates section of MW1. Page 43 or 44 or so. It's the big flat-bed truck they implied was used for hauling 'Mechs (and cargo). (This was actually the first thing I 3D sculpted!)
Speck, Ray implied (albeit years ago) that that artwork might be Ok. But good point!
Dak
-
Here's some images of that unfunded batch. Find them a forever home!

Dak
-
Oh! That one! I know that now. Yeah! Let's do that.
-
Raider (with parts for the Mk I and II)
DI Multipurpose VTOL
-
Hippogriff Protomech
+1
It just looks so cool! I would totally buy a stars worth of these.
-
EDIT
Dyslexia got the better of me in the Original post, please disregard.
-
Next time let us suggest 3 please. I’ll go for these two
QKD-8X Quickdraw (Dak’s “carry weapons”)
Celerity
Mike
-
Something occurred to me, so I opted to go back and change mine.

Dak
There definitely are things I want on your list, but I had to make the hard decisions to get down to just two nominations. :-[
You do good work, Dak; we'll get there!
-
Would it seem that units 3150+ would be the go-to, as far as "new" (or time-line continuing) hardware is concerned?
Of those I would like to see 'modernized':
Dervish (HOWEVER, InnerSphere production post-3150 may be affected due to events around New Avalon).
Quickdraw (due to the LAW facility on Luthien going poof, Earthwerks production-lines may have been the primary producer?)
-
Rifleman II - Maybe DAK can swing his considerable influence, and he can develop the model to be used for both the art and miniature... ;)
-
Hippogriff Protomech
Tribune Mobile Tactical Command HQ (ED Dark Age) [Good idea, Weirdo.]
-
Mining Mech MkII/MkIIMod (I can't find an official name for this other than the ClickyTech name, it's the dump truck with legs)
Raider (with parts for the Mk I and II) +1 to this
-
Phoenix Hawk L
Buster
-
Mech Scale Centurion aero space fighter
-
original S7 Onslaught
I would have thought that off limits due to the original art work being something from VMI or other outside source. Am I wrong on that? I'd love to see a mini based on the original S7 Koto (btw that isn't my actual suggestion) but thought it would be impossible.
-
Harpagos heavy Quad Vee.

-
Matar
LB-X carrier
I'd have suggested an AC/2 Carrier, but I don't think any artwork exists.
-
The only standin art I’ve ever seen for the ac/2 carrier was the 3025 SRM carrier
-
I think there is an AC/2 carrier in that photo. It is from the side, but otherwise obscured.

Does the KGC-009 not count for an MWO King Crab? Or is there another pattern, yet?
-
That was a Dark Age sculpt. Pretty sure any MWO requests are off the table as well.

this was my assumption as well but i didn't remove any entries that weren't explicitly out of bounds per the criteria in the first post
-
The Shen Long and Leonidas BA are already funded.
-
LB-X / AC/2 Carrier (2)
Just to be clear those are two different and distinct pieces of art and units. The LB-X carrier is from one of the Liberation of Terra books and the AC/2 carrier is 3039
-
To me, they fall under redesign requests. :-\

UABM-2R Lich
Notos Quadvee
(Both from XTRO: Republic III)
-
For the AC/2 carrier, would it be out of the realm of possibility to just sculpt a new turret for the SRM/LRM carrier body?
-

In my opinion some of the primary problems with the existing Carriers is that they are low detail & random line art/miniatures.
The best approach would likely be to make a hybrid body from LB-X (detailing) & AC2 (general shape) art, and then have two possible turrets.
But that would fall into the resculpt zone....
-
I would love a version of the MW1 Heavy Transport sans load (or with different possible loads). Something with enough space to to throw on a bin or two from a J-27.
I'm also a huge fan of the Harvester Ant, especially the civil version.
-
I wasn’t exactly sure where MWO requests fell. I tried to suggest King Crab variants that currently don’t have models but I’d like to see the MWO styling (like what’s coming in the new box set). If that’s a problem for one reason or another, please let me know and I’ll swap out for something on the list of ‘mechs posted in the other thread.
While I’m clarifying what’s allowed, is “Gausszilla” something I could request?
-
The MWO Victor and Locust already have been put in mini form, but as the Lu Wei Bing and the Gun I believe. IWM isn't allowed to directly use the art i believe as those designs are specific to MWO and would need a whole new license agreement to be used.
Safer to request designs not already produced in mini form.

No.

Yes.
-
To expand on what Scotty said: I won’t pretend to know all the details, but the general rule for making minis is that Catalyst must have published art of some version of the unit in question, so that the mini can be based on said art. The new locust, gún, and lu wei bing all have art that appeared in official Catalyst products. None of them were based on MWO art.
However, the lead concept artist for MWO has done contract art for Catalyst in the past, and some of his designs look similar for both companies. He did the Lu Wei bing, which shares a lot of elements with what he did for the MWO Victor. The Gún was his art, but the new locust about to come out in the box set is based on work from a different artist. You can see it if you look up the Locust 1V on the MUL.
So, no MWO designs (and no HBS either!), despite the fact that a few units do look very similar.
-
Just to be clear those are two different and distinct pieces of art and units. The LB-X carrier is from one of the Liberation of Terra books and the AC/2 carrier is 3039
I think he's talking about the ac/2 carrier and it's variant, the AC/2 Carrier (LB-X) http://www.sarna.net/wiki/AC/2_Carrier#Variants
I'm not sure art for either exists.
Disclaimer - I'm voting for it/them too.
-
i lumped them because no official art exists for the original AC/2 carrier. also i have no pretensions about my list being any kind of official. speck will do his thing when the time comes
-

I think IWM sculpts are required to be based off of existing art aren't they? There is clearly wiggle room for variants, but I don't know if they could interpolate a whole new chassis.
-

Correct.

Sorry; I must have had a stroke there.
-
I would love to see some new aerofighters (i can't remember the last time we got a new mech scale fighter) and 3145 BAs!!! My 2 picks are:
Wusun omnifighter
Grey Death Infiltrator BA
-
Thanks for the clarification. I hadn't fully researched the Lu and Gun to properly source them. All I could remember was it was the same artist.
No.
Yes.
-
Hellcat Mech Scale Aerospace Fighter
Centurion Mech Scale Aerospace Fighter
-
Koroshiya
-
Defender Battlecruiser
-
My vote is for:
Mining Mech MkII
Notos QuadVee
-
Hadur Fast Support Vehicle
Zibler Fast Strike Tank
-
The ones I'd like to see are the following:
Cyrano VTOL Gunship (2750s and still not made?)
(RESERVED FOR FUTURE)
-
Daishi Widowmaker (or Prometheus for you Dirty Davions).
Neither is overly hard to mod yourself with existing parts. Prometheus one is actually well detailed in one of the old Commando Quarterly newsletters (Issue 1 Oct 2005) done by Ray Arrastia himself!
-
Omnimech variants were on the list of things they weren't going to make.
-
Updated. Removed WM/P and added Hawkwolf. (20-5161, apparently Lance Scarini's extensive product list that I'm using for reference is getting a little out of date from December 2017).
I was hoping they'd do a OM variant, at least make an OP for the torso. I spent a couple hours making it and cut and burned myself doing so.
I was using the OM image gallery for an image reference, along with Dak's Guide V2 for what parts to get.

Curse those treacherous IWM folks, always thwarting us by giving us what we want! ;D

So going to end the suggestions with this post.
Could someone help with posting the full list and counts, would be a big help.
-

Note: I did not try to filter this list based on the nomination rules. I just scanned the thread for identifiable votes, and did my very best to roll them into an honest count.

The Cuchulainn Support Armor is a type of Battle Armor, not Industrialmech.
-
I am very happy that the Hippogriff Proto is tied for 3rd place in preliminary nomination.

Good call. My bad.
-

I'm happy the primitive emperor is riding high. I swear I didn't pad the votes! :D
(beyond counting my own single vote, I guess.)

I was honestly surprised to see you interested in a DA Snow Raven protomech...what are you up to over there!?
-
I was honestly surprised to see you interested in a DA Snow Raven protomech...what are you up to over there!?
I've had a Snow Raven cluster for a few years now, complete with a full star of Protos. It just hasn't had reason to hit a table at a convention yet. :D
-
I’m glad the primatives have been so popular. I really dig the design aesthetic
-
I on the other hand am surprised at all the the "variant" options that I see people want, in a game where its not WYSIWYG.
The AC2 Carrier was fluffed as a variant of the LRM Carrier in the original 3026 fluff, so just use LRM Carriers.
Anything "Named" like Thug-Jose or Widowmaker or the Model #2 v/s the current mini that looks like the #3, etc etc.
I use unseen Wolverine-6R's for any model of Wolverine that I want to be playing, 6M, 7M, 8C, 8K, 9W2, etc etc etc.
It doesn't matter, because its a Wolverine which is as close I get to being accurate.
I'd never put a re-sculpt above getting something new for the game out there. But that's just me.
-
It would be nice if we ever get separate Resculpt/Variant/Update FF threads.

Well, resculpts and Classics weren't allowed this go-around so that limited options. And if you have a particular variant of a mech that yo like to use on a regular basis that doesn't have a weapon-load that corresponds with the standard mini, it's fun getting a mini that actually looks the part.
-
Wow, we really want the primitive emperor...
On another note, please let us know when resculpts can be a thing. There are three Wolf Omnimehcs that could stand to be brought into the same scale and parts capabilities of the 3050 omnis

Sure, but the fan financing section is populated by a self-selected group of a self-selected group. (That slice of Battletech players who frequent these boards, and care enough about miniatures to pay just to make new sculpts happen. For that matter, it also selects for board members enough into the miniatures to watch the miniatures boards for these threads.)
I can see wanting a particular variant, if it fills out a painted display unit, or because you think it will look cooler than the base model, or whatever. That can hold up, even if you plan to use it as a proxy for some other model later on down the line.
I will freely admit that I voted for the primitive Emperor because I think it looks cooler than the higher tech version for which we already have a sculpt, even though nobody would blink at me fielding the existing sculpt as an EMP-1A.

EDIT: Oh, missed the post from Speck. >_<
-
Just to warn additional voters: Speck closed off suggestions at the top of the page.

I find it amusing, especially on outside forums that always decry or protest the latest releases because they flat out refuse to come to the official board to participate.
Most of the reasons I've seen range from "they never choose what I want" to "the official board sucks, is full of elitists and they banned me cuz I didn't toe a party line" the second is especially funny because usually those people have very strong opinions of their own in discussions and usually end up killing any they are in.
I chose the Alfar and Liberator just to keep a flow of earlier designs going.

i guess if someone can't hold their nose long enough to post in one thread and then vote in a poll, kick rocks?

I've found that 99% of he time, anyone who says stuff like that is really someone who thinks that attacking the sexual orientation of someone they disagree with is the height of intellectual argument.

Alright, folks, break it up and obey the rules here.

Nooo0000oooOOOoO! My Kuma-bro, you could have saved our pick from being a one-voter! Together we could have saved the poor mech from a lifetime of confusion thanks to weird art that doesn't match the stats of any variant!
...Next time, friend...next time.

I will have the poll thread created this week.
-
So how does the poll thread then work? The top suggestions from this one are voted on again?
-
Generally, yes. The way it worked last time (which could always change) was that the top few requests which had the most votes were added to a poll. Then, everyone was allowed two votes, and voted for which two they wanted the most. When it was over, IWM ended up making the two units that got the most votes.
I would assume it will be a similar format this time around, but no idea if we will still get two votes and the top two will get made, or if the numbers will be different. We should find out soon!

Got side tracked on Sunday and then the week started. I will have up this week.

Poll Threads have been created, so I am locking this thread.
