Mackolla
Scott was going over all the Warship, Jumpship and Dropship units available to the Mackolla Defense Force or Mitchell Aerospace and Shipyards. He found that they were pretty beefy:
3 Saratoga Class Carriers
6 Halsey Destroyers (3 more under construction)
6 Buford Corvettes (2 more under construction)
8 Patrol Corvettes
8 Invader Q-Ships
3 Carrack Transports
4 LF Monolith Jumpships
8 Star Lord Jumpships
3 Tramp Jumpships
12 Invader Jumpships
4 Merchant Jumpships
2 Scout Jumpships
1 Explorer Jumpship
3 Lee Mech Dropships
4 Lee Armor Dropships
5 Gremlin Dropships
5 Overlord Dropships
6 Modified Union Dropships
2 Seeker Dropships
4 Intruder BA Dropships (256 BA)
4 Intruder BA Dropships (75 BA)
6 Pentagon Dropships
26 Mammoth Dropships
8 Converted Mule Dropships (14,000 pass)
8 Mule Dropships
6 Jumbo Dropships
6 Aqueduct Dropships
6 Elephant Tug Dropships
2 Dictator Dropships
All told it was a huge fleet. The recovered Dropships just returned were included in the ship count. Scott was still awaiting the final list of what those Dropships carried, which should arrive at anytime. He needed the exact count because he was planning on organizing the Warships into some kind of operations grouping. This willy nilly stuff was getting old.
A knock on the door frame brought his head up and he saw George and Craig at the door. He waved them in and to seats, he knew they had the inventory on what those Dropships carried. "I take it that small sheet of paper is what those Dropships carried?" He asked
George spoke up "That is correct. It all fit on a single sheet of paper."
"Your kidding me, a single sheet of paper for the contents of 10 Dropships?" Scott asked in bewilderment.
"Well, the Dictators carried mechs of course 36 Shootist's and 36 Highlanders. Now, the 2 Mules carried between them 200 Cobra VTOL, 10 Cobra MASH VTOL. The best was in the 6 Mammoth Dropships. It took us a few days to dig thru all that machinery to find out exactly what we have, but we finally found it. Those 6 Mammoth Dropships carry a 5 production line tank factory in them. According to the manuals we recovered, it is pre-loaded with several tanks already. They are Turhan, Manticore, Merkava Mk VIII, T-12 Tiger, Marsden II. I am pretty sure we could upload any design currently in production into the computer system. According to the manual, each line will build roughly 4 per month. So 5 Battalions per year of tanks." George said
"Well, that is good news, only problem we have is we don't have the people here to handle another large factory." Scott said
"We might not have the people here, but you damn sure have the people over on Bamburgh to run this factory." George fired back
"George, the people over there are pretty far behind the times. I am not sure they could handle a full on factory, much less produce anything like a tank." Scott said
"Those people might surprise you Scott. The people you brought over here are quick learners and eager to learn. Take the factory over to Bamburgh, say thank you to the salvage gods and put the people over there to work. I will even scrounge up some folks from here to send with the factory to assist in assembling it and figuring out how it works and then train the folks to use it." George said "Now, Craig has some ideas to run by you."
"Sir, I project we will have General Honos' unit fully equipped with Omni-Mechs in 6 months time. Our construction time is getting faster, not much but we have saved 7 days on each Omni-Mech on average. I would like to remove the Mech Bays from the Dictators. With 72 Bays, I think I can add another 24-30 refit/production platforms. Right now, we have ample Clan Mech technicians to man the additional refit/production platforms. I am also conductng training with your technicians on how to maintain and in some cases repair Clan weapons and equipment." Craig said
"George, what do you think?" Scott asked
"I have no problem with it. I mean, way back I was highly doubtful, but Craig and his people have worked some miracles. We have worked out the major issues already, myomer production was a bitch to get right, but between all of us we mastered that little issue. We can easily supply the material needed to increase Mech production if you choose to. Those amounts are trivial compared to what the shipyards use." George said
"Okay Craig, you have my blessing. George, you know sooner or later someone is going to sue us for license theft or some such. We damn sure have not asked anyone for licenses to any of the standard mechs he wants to build." Scott said
"Scott, look at that shipyard facility we have, then look at the ever growing warship fleet you command. What are they going to do? Come in here and take our stuff by force? Please, no one in their right mind is even going to try." George said "Besides, if Craig had his way, we would produce Clan Mechs all the time. Now, have you seen the specs on that big ass warship Boss sent down?"
"Yeah, I saw it. Victory Heavy Cruiser, 900,000 tons of bad. I might let him build a couple of them, not sure I like the build time for the damn things, a year for each one. I also heard the armor is a bitch to make." Scott said
"It is, where we do 100 tons a day easy on all the others, this stuff takes 3 days to make 100 tons. But it is the best stuff out there." George said
