Not sure there will be a disaster. A combined FC should be successful. Of course I have a few twists in the future.
After all the time I have spent checking CC troop deployments and such, it amazes me even more that even with the Clan threat, how the CC never got swallowed by the AFFC. I only shifted 2 RCT into the area in this AU. Every unit used so far, except the warships, was there in 3054. I can understand how the Sarna March was ripped in 3059 in canon, the recall of Lyran units really opened up some huge holes and removed a bunch of high caliber units from the defensive lines. But prior to 3057-3058, it is amazing how the CC survived not being swallowed up.
Most worlds in the CC had just a Batt of line troops assigned as garrison forces. Right across the border were full RCT's. Now the 5th Syrtis Fusiliers were scattered across mutiple worlds, but most of the RCT's were on a single world. In canon, the lack of transports would hamper an offensive operation. In my AU, the introduction of the Gremlin freed up a bunch of Jumpships needed to move a RCT into battle and the freed up Jumpships just increase ever more as Gremlins keep being added to RCT's replacing vast amounts of Seekers and Condor's. 5 regiment of Infantry is on average 15-20 jumpship collars on their own, now they need 6 jumpship collars to carry the 5 regiments and support of a RCT.
If nothing major happens, 3057 will see the massive deployment of Gremlin and Lee dropships across the AFFC RCT's as TAG, Clyde, Salvatore really begin pumpijng out the dropships to refit the RCT's enmass. 4 Gremlins per month per shipyard. IIRC, Clyde has 6 yards in play, if they use 4 yards to make just Gremlin's that is 192 per year, enough for like 32 RCT's just from Clyde. If that saves 15 Jumpship collars per RCT, that means 480 jumpship collars have been freed up, if we use Invader's as the standard that mean 160 Invader's are now free to do other things. Like carry another 20 RCT's into battle. The AFFC as a whole becomes even more mobile and that mobility means even more dangerous and responsive to crisis points across the nation.
Now I almost understand Canon's use of the small dropships and the lack of large combat transports in canon. I might need to ramp down production time of Gremlin's to 2 per month per shipyard. That still has Clyde pumping out 96 in a year, 16 RCT's worth.
For production times, I used Agamemnon cruiser as a guide, 3059 had the FWL with 1 active and 1 in trials, so I figure a 1 year build time for that cruiser. Zechetinu, in 3059 they had 3 active with 1 in trails, call it 6 months build time, Impavido, 3059 2 active 1 in trials, 3 went to the CC, call it 3 slips so 6 months build time for each unit. Congress, 200 examples built, average 1 per year from a single slip if I use 2765 as a end date. But the one that throws me is Sovetskii Soyuz, 23 years production if I use 2765 as a end date.......400 built, so 17 per year built.
It makes it hard to calculate, so been trying to hammer the numbers down harder in some ways.
