             Harloc

The Blackwind Lancers and Aliesha's Mounted Fusiliers landed on the planets surface and quickly overran the Capellan militia forces defending the planet. 2 regular Infantry Regiments had accompanied the SIC units and would remain to garrison the planet. As an added security, the Blackwind Lancers would also leave their 2nd Battalion to make sure Harloc stayed secure.

The rest of the Blackwind Lancer and Aliesha's Mounted Fusiliers boarded their dropships to rejoin the SIC fleet.

   Styk

Lieutenant General Wendell Power, XO 3rd Donegal Guards RCT, oversaw the surrender of the mercenary commands on Styk. One Battalion at a time was brought in under the watchful guns of the 3rd Donegal Guards and pilots dismounted and taken by Guard infantry to awaiting prisoner holding areas. Here all the mercenary troops would await final disposition of their equipment once hostilities ended between the AFFC and the Capellan Confederation.

  Victoria

The Davion Assault Guards RCT (minus) had managed to get a strong toe hold inside Fort Lee itself and was slowly pushing the defending Prefectorate Guard and militia back. Marshal Stephan Cooper really wanted his 3 Infantry Regiments back from Jacson, but had been advised it would be another week before they arrived at Victoria. It was slow going with only 2 Infantry Regiments.

  Menke

The 3rd Davion Guards RCT had secured the Star Corps production facility after a sharp fight with the defending 4th MAC and had pursued the 4th MAC almost to MAC's primary base but had slowed some after losing a Mech Company to a devilish ambush in the planet's jungle. The 8th Syrtis Fusiliers were just now landing on the planet and then both unit's could finally work to destroy the 4th MAC. Marshal Jim Seymour had thought about using orbital fire on the 4th MAC but had shelved that idea due to the chance of civilian casualties.

  Imalda

The 1st Fed Suns Armored Cavalry arrived at a pirate point 2 days from the planet and began their burn to the surface. Securing this system would place AFFC troops just a single jump from Sian.

  Campertown

The 6th Syrtis Fusiliers dropped directly on top of the 5th MAC's forward operation base and in conjunction with a assault by the 12th Vegan Rangers forces saw the 5th MAC completely destroyed after 5 hours of hard fighting. It was just a matter of finishing off the remaining Capellan forces on the planet now.

  Sarna

Task Force 34 announced it's arrival in the Sarna System by launching a airstrike upon the Capellan forces on the planet destroying several mechs and aerospace fighters on the ground. The AFFC ground forces were 2 days way and Task Force 34 would remain to escort the ground troops to the surface before continuing to Capella.

  Other News

Task Force 35 was 3 weeks from linking up with the SIC invasion force but should make the link up by the time they secured Hexare.
The 5th Cruces Lancers RCT was entering the area of operations and was rerouted to Sarna to assist in it's capture.
The 5th Davion Guards RCT was tasked to Capella.

  Tharkad

Regent Katherine Steiner Davion along with her husband Galen Cox were being briefed on the Capellan war by Marshall Nondi Steiner.

"Aunt Nondi, it sounds like we have the situation well in hand on the Capellan front. Is there anything else happening that we need to worry about anywhere?" Katherine asked

"We have increased pirate activity all along out periphery borders but nothing major to report. Thankfully, the Clan front is quiet except for some cross border raiding by both the Falcons and Vipers. I still feel uneasy on that front since you ordered me to shift 4 complete RCT's to the FWL border from the Clan front along with 3 of our Fox corvettes. Basing them at Loric is sure to upset Thomas Marik." Nondi Steiner said

"He can get upset all he wants. This way, if he decided to aid Sun Tzu against us, we can strike at Tamarind or Thermopolis. That should make him think twice about causing trouble." Katherine said

Glad to see Campertown relieved!

And I think it's a good thing General Power was overseeing the surrender of the mercenaries...

 13-16 November 3056
            Hexare

The SIC invasion force arrived in the system and the Blackwind Lancers headed for the planet's surface. Kai Allard Liao wanted to just head for Sian, but Task Force 35 was at least 2 weeks away still. So he planned for a 29 November invasion date for Sian.

  Sarna

Under a heavy Aerospace fighter presence, the 5th Lyran Regulars and 13th Lyran Guards began their landings on the continent of Jacarlos. The 5th Cruces Lancers RCT landed on the continent of Canoshal to secure the Tengo Aerospace complex. With the 2nd Battle Squadron now in system, Task Force 34 moved to Capella with the 5th Davion Guards RCT.

  Capella

Task Force 34 arrived in the Capella system at a pirate point 2 days from the surface of the planet with the 5th Davion Guards RCT, Delta and Gamma Regiments of Wolf's Dragoons. Task Force 34 was only a day from the Rashpur-Owens Incorporated shipyards so the Task Force did a hard burn to capture the shipyards. The Aerospace Wings of the ground forces would escort their units to the surface. The 5th Davion Guards and Delta Regiment would land on the continent of Llagarres while Gamma Regiment landed on the continent of Pociello.

Reaching the shipyards after 18 hours, Task Force 24 landed 300 marines on the orbital yards. It would take 2 days to fully secure the shipyards and all the orbital factories.

After landing, the 5th Davion Guards RCT quickly secured the Ceres Metals Industries with little resistance encountered. This made Hauptmann General William Galloway extremely nervous and he ordered his Infantry Brigade to carefully search the entire complex. Delta Regiment under Colonel Shelly Brubaker encountered a decent fight near the capitol Memorial City, but they quickly defeated the conventional forces there.

Hauptmann General William Galloway was surprised when the planetary ruler Duke Gregory Liao surrendered the planet to the AFFC, citing the desire to save Capellan lives.

  Overview

News of the swift and deadly invasion by the AFFC was starting to make planetary rulers all across the Capellan Confederation to make some hard decisions and take a hard look at their planetary garrisons. Most found their garrisons totally inadequate to defend their worlds from the AFFC, pirates or raids yes, full invasions, no.

It was not just planetary rulers getting cold feet, but even CCAF line units were getting very nervous. Especially those along the periphery border. Even forces stationed on the FWL border were getting nervous. Most wondering when they would be called to try and stem the AFFC tide. Word had already spread via HPG of the AFFC use of warships to destroy Jumpships that refused to immediately surrender and even using orbital bombardment when needed against ground troops, no one wanted to face a warship.

It started slow, first the planets Zanzibar, Quimberton, Vard, Columbine contacted New Avalon and surrendered to the AFFC without a single AFFC soldier arriving in their systems.

Hmm...  I wonder how big the CD will be or how much larger will the SIC be?  Nice story so far,  I wonder what disaster you have planned for the AFFC for being to successful?

Not sure there will be a disaster. A combined FC should be successful. Of course I have a few twists in the future.

After all the time I have spent checking CC troop deployments and such, it amazes me even more that even with the Clan threat, how the CC never got swallowed by the AFFC. I only shifted 2 RCT into the area in this AU. Every unit used so far, except the warships, was there in 3054. I can understand how the Sarna March was ripped in 3059 in canon, the recall of Lyran units really opened up some huge holes and removed a bunch of high caliber units from the defensive lines. But prior to 3057-3058, it is amazing how the CC survived not being swallowed up.

Most worlds in the CC had just a Batt of line troops assigned as garrison forces. Right across the border were full RCT's. Now the 5th Syrtis Fusiliers were scattered across mutiple worlds, but most of the RCT's were on a single world. In canon, the lack of transports would hamper an offensive operation. In my AU, the introduction of the Gremlin freed up a bunch of Jumpships needed to move a RCT into battle and the freed up Jumpships just increase ever more as Gremlins keep being added to RCT's replacing vast amounts of Seekers and Condor's. 5 regiment of Infantry is on average 15-20 jumpship collars on their own, now they need 6 jumpship collars to carry the 5 regiments and support of a RCT.

If nothing major happens, 3057 will see the massive deployment of Gremlin and Lee dropships across the AFFC RCT's as TAG, Clyde, Salvatore really begin pumpijng out the dropships to refit the RCT's enmass. 4 Gremlins per month per shipyard. IIRC, Clyde has 6 yards in play, if they use 4 yards to make just Gremlin's that is 192 per year, enough for like 32 RCT's just from Clyde. If that saves 15 Jumpship collars per RCT, that means 480 jumpship collars have been freed up, if we use Invader's as the standard that mean 160 Invader's are now free to do other things. Like carry another 20 RCT's into battle. The AFFC as a whole becomes even more mobile and that mobility means even more dangerous and responsive to crisis points across the nation.

Now I almost understand Canon's use of the small dropships and the lack of large combat transports in canon. I might need to ramp down production time of Gremlin's to 2 per month per shipyard. That still has Clyde pumping out 96 in a year, 16 RCT's worth.

For production times, I used Agamemnon cruiser as a guide, 3059 had the FWL with 1 active and 1 in trials, so I figure a 1 year build time for that cruiser.  Zechetinu, in 3059 they had 3 active with 1 in trails, call it 6 months build time, Impavido, 3059 2 active 1 in trials, 3 went to the CC, call it 3 slips so 6 months build time for each unit. Congress, 200 examples built, average 1 per year from a single slip if I use 2765 as a end date. But the one that throws me is Sovetskii Soyuz, 23 years production if I use 2765 as a end date.......400 built, so 17 per year built.

It makes it hard to calculate, so been trying to hammer the numbers down harder in some ways.

Your AU would seem to dump a bunch of Seekers and Condors onto the secondary market (where mercenaries can snap them up).  I whole heartedly approve!

all of those small merc units with their own dropship, would be helpful for raiding on the Clan front.

 20 November 3056
            Sian

Chancellor Sun Tzu Liao was in another raging temper tantrum. Following the 4 planets surrendering to the AFFC without a shot being fired or even a AFFC soldier in the system. This morning brought him news that even more systems were surrendering to the AFFC and even the SIC, following Candace Liao's announcement by HPG that she means to return the throne of the Capellan Confederation to her rule. He stared at the new star map.

 Surrender to AFFC
 Decatur
 Bellatrix
 Egress
 Pojos
 Corodiz
 Rollis
 Larsha
 Muridox

 Surrender to SIC
 Minnacora
 Randar
 No Return
 Geifer
 Cordiagr
 Ovan
 Hustaing
 Decus

He was almost frothing at the mouth, not only the systems surrender but the 5th Confederation Reserve Cavalry pledged their loyalty to SIC along with Gregg's Long Strider's pledging to SIC. Even though those units were near the periphery on worlds surrendering to the AFFC. This just could not be happening.

  Victoria

The Davion Assault Guards had finally managed to secure Fort Lee along with the research/production facility attached. Once the Prefectorate Guard was forced to enter open ground they were quickly surrounded by the Assault Guards and eliminated.

  Menke

After suffering several more ambushes in the jungles on Menke by the 4th MAC, Marshal Jim Seymour had finally had enough and called in a orbital strike when a company of the 4th MAC was spotted. The sudden destruction from orbit with no way to fight back demoralized the remaining troops of the 4th MAC. Finally, Marcus Baxter, Mandrinn of Menke signaled his surrender of the planet to AFFC forces to save his forces from further orbital strikes.

  Other Happenings

An extremely large pirate band raided Great Gorge overwhelming the mercenary Batt garrisoning the planet and the local militia. The pirates made off with many tons of gold and valuable ores loaded onto dropships they captured on the surface. The pirates were also using mechs equipped with Star League weaponry.

Watching the Capellan Confederation basically being swallowed up by the Federated Commonwealth caused the Taurian Concordat and the Magistracy of Canopus to enter into an alliance after hasty discussions. The WoB would oversee the running of both periphery nations HPG networks and also assist with military aid.

Though alarmed by the swift and overwhelming retaliation of the Federated Commonwealth against the Capellan Confederation, Coordinator Theodore Kurita order the DCMS to remain alert but to do nothing to provoke an incident. He reminded his Warlords that the Dragon would have responded in the same manner if attacked like the CC did to the FC.

  21 November 3056
             Kashilla

Kali Liao was in her unassuming estate outside the capitol Leah. She had been keeping up with the losing war effort against the AFFC and now the SIC. Her treasonous aunt Candace Liao was making a play for her brother's throne. Bad enough she killed our mother, now she want's to take over the throne. And she is helped by that twerp Victor Davion. Kali thought to herself. My brother will not be able to stave off the defeat, the AFFC is just too powerful. The FWL has turned it's back on us as well.

There has to be a way to make them pay for this, even in defeat, there has to be way to make them feel pain. I will find a way.

  Robinson

Duke James Sandoval, Duke of Robinson and Minister of the Draconis March had been keeping up with the war effort. He did not much care for Archon Prince Victor Steiner Davion, but he had to admit that the Prince had responded like a true Davion when he had to. He was still irritated about Melissa Steiner twisting his arm to release over a Batt of new Watchmen mechs to somewhere. But at least Prince Victor was not pulling troops from his March to fight the Capellan's.

Having Omi Kurita on Tharkad for Katherine's wedding had turned his stomach. Worse was the rumors that her and Prince Victor might actually be getting serious. He knew for a fact that Prince Victor and Omi Kurita had spent way too much time alone together. I will be damned if he thinks he can hand my March over to the Combine as a wedding present.

Well unless Andurien get someone to join in, it might just be "raiding" that happens to capture planets.  MoC and TC might be be interested in a "Trinity Alliance" with them and between them snatch up southern and western CC.

              Pegasi

Gale was monitoring the progress of getting the Aegis cruiser jump capable. This Aegis was beat all to heck and they had at least 2 more months to recast the core and then another 2 weeks to re-install the new core. Thank god they kept the warships out here with us. Gale thought to herself. Call it 3 months until we can begin the trip home with the Aegis. Another month to get to Mackolla. 4 months until mission complete.

    Carcri

MDF Rescue, Rescue Class Yardship, had finally arrived at Carcri and maneuvered close to the huge Farragut Battleship. Tug Four was currently maneuvering the huge ship into the awaiting arms of the yardship. Captain James Nevosar was on the bridge watching the action. Over the last couple days, Rescue's chief yard master and several other engineers had been aboard the Farragut checking for damage. Their orders were to get it jump capable and back to Mackolla. The damage survey had revealed that the Farragut's fuel tanks were empty and the drive charging equipment was destroyed, which prevented the ship from charging it's jump drive. The yard master had actually called it a fairly easy fix, 3 maybe 4 weeks tops.

  Mackolla

The Boss had gotten word that the Black Lion was 1 jump away. He had been expecting it last month but was informed they suffered a breakdown and had to put the ship back into the yard for repairs. He already had a pressurized 1 million ton shipyard cleared and ready to accept her. He had searched the database as deep as he could, but they only had full specs for ships and dropships prior to 2765, and only 4 actual Star League era warships. Well, he now had full specs on Riga, Congress, Lola III fully loaded up thanks to those ships detailed computer schematics and such. I just hope this Black Lion, Farragut and Aegis have just as detailed schematics on board theirs.

Hauptmann General Daly, Brigadier General Honos and Leftenant General Scott Mitchell were all on the tarmac to greet the incoming dropships carrying the equipment and personnel to fully outfit the 6th Davion Guards RCT. But the big show and tell was to meet Peter Steiner Davion. He was easy to spot as he disembarked from the dropship, he looked around and spotted the awaiting group of officers and head over.

"Hauptmann Peter Steiner Davion reporting for duty in the 6th Davion Guards RCT sir." Peter said as he saluted Hauptmann General Daly

Daly returned the salute "Stand easy, let me welcome you to the new 6th Davion Guards RCT. This is Leftenant General Scott Mitchell, commander of the Mackolla Defense Force and Military Governor of Bamburgh and this is Brigadier General Honos of the Mackolla Defense Force, he commands the ex-clan personnel on the planet." After hand shakes were shared all around, Peter looked at Scott.

"My bother, Archon Prince Victor Steiner Davion asked me to deliver this holo-message to you. I am also to inform you that you are now Baron of Bamburgh. The planet is yours sir. Congratulations." Peter said

Everyone shared shocked looks "Thank you I guess. Any idea what is on the holo disc?" Scott asked

"I would assume it contains the official awarding of Bamburgh to you and probably tells you all about me and my failings at my last posting sir." Peter said

"No one is perfect, I have made mistakes, and was about to make a huge one once, but my CSM stopped me from crossing that line. Come on, let's all get inside the Admin building. We can finish our discussions there." Scott said

  26 November 3056

Scott looked up when the rap on the door caught his attention, General Daly entered when Scott looked up. "Finally got all the manifests looked over and I do believe the 6th Davion Guards RCT is fully equipped and staffed now. This is my complete TOE as of right now." He handed over the roster to Scott.

  6th Davion Guards RCT
1 Mech Regiment (reinforced) (2 Heavy Batt, 1 Med Batt, 1 Assault Batt)
3 Armor Regiments (2 Heavy Track, 1 Med Hover)
 1 Artillery Battalion
 2 Aerospace Wings
5 Infantry Regiments (4 Foot (equipped Hover, Track) 1 Jump)
 1 BA Battalion
 5 LF Monolith Jumpships
 4 Lee Mech Dropships
 6 Lee Armor Dropships
 6 Gremlin Dropships
 1 Intruder BA Dropship (256)
 4 Mule Cargo Dropships

"It will take some time to get them worked up to full speed. But I have a good levening of experienced personnel to offset the large number of fresh from the Acadamies they sent me. Be another month at least before I have complete breakdowns on the units themselves. I want to play around some and see what works for us best." General Daly said

"You need anything, let us know. We have all the coolest toys as you already know." Scott said with a smile "Now I have to figure out how to get some more personnel to man my ground forces after you looted them. Infantry and Armor I can manage from Bamburgh, but Mech pilots could be a problem."

"Sorry about the looting Scott. I know your down almost a full Mech Batt worth of pilots. Maybe recruit or promote some of those Industrial Mech pilots we brought over from Bamburgh. Some of them are pretty good pilots." General Daly suggested

"I have been thinking about it. We put them there because we did not fully trust them. Not sure how I feel about recruiting them now. I will have to think it over more." Scott replied

             Sian

Task Force 35 and the SIC invasion fleet came in at a pirate point barely 3 days from the planet. When all of the SIC dropships were away, Admiral Cruz launched all of her fighters to escort the dropships to the surface, she held back only 6 fighters for self protection. Sensors had detected incoming dropships from the Zenith Jump Point and Admiral Cruz ordered FCS Sunburst to show them the error of their ways.

  Across the Confederation

Across the Capellan Confederation saw many planets along the periphery begin to declare their independence from ANY House or Power. The following planet declared themselves independent:

  Ward                       Andarmax         Principia
  Hurik                       Jacomarle         Niomede
  Cavalor                    Gunthar            Barras
  Renown                    Drozan             Borden
  Repulse                    Turin                Kurvasa
  New Roland              Sax                  Buenos Aires

Along with the planets several units serving the Capellan Confederation went rogue also, most declaring for what ever planet they happened to be on. Mercenary commands abandoned some planets to reform with their parent unit.

Kamakura's Hussars (Second Battalion) stayed on Ward, her 1st Batt abandoned Hurik to return to Ward
Kincade's Rangers (First Battalion) declared for Repulse while the 2nd Batt declared for Renown
Clifton's Rangers declared New Roland as their person fief
Little Richards Panzer Brigade abandoned Andarmax and Principia to mass on Sax
Tooth of Ymir jumped contract and fled the area
Ishara's Grenadiers declared Barras and Buenos Aires the Barras Compact

Marshall Bishop Sortek, seeing the Capellan Confederation disintegrate order the 3rd Ceti Hussars RCT to immediately make their way to Betelgeuse, 2 jumps away from their current location at Grand Base. He also gave the orders for the Illician Lancers to begin moving in to garrison new planets declaring for the AFFC. The 1st Capellan Dragoons were ordered to Larsha.

This large section of the Capellan Confederation breaking away caught everyone by surprise.

  Sian

News that the AFFC and SIC invasion force had arrived only 3 days away almost gave Chancellor Sun Tzu Liao a heart attack. Followed closely by the news that 18 planets had broken away from the Confederation along with several military units did send him over the edge. He personally shot every one of his Strategio's for treason, citing the failure to warn him that attacking the Federated Commonwealth was suicide for his nation.

When Kai Allard Liao broadcast over open airwaves that he and the SIC forces were there to return the Capellan Confederation to Candace Liao's rightful rule, over half the planets Militia Regiments and Conventional Regiments began declaring for one side or the other and fighting amongst themselves. Sian plunged into a civil war.

Kai Allard Liao and the 1st and 2nd St Ives Lancers tore a bloody path thru the Red Lancers trying to stop them from making the final push to the Forbidden City. Kai was piloting his Penetrator and was using it to it's full effect. As he finally broke free of the immediate fighting, he spied a lone Emperor EMP-6A standing before the Palace itself.

"Kai, it is I, Chancellor Sun Tzu Liao. You and your mother have made a grave error in siding with the AFFC against me. For that, you and she will die."

"Sun Tzu, don't be a fool. You cannot defeat me in Mech combat. We both know it. Surrender now, don't make me do this cousin."

"Cousin? You are no family to me Kai Allard Liao, even your name says Davion, born to a Davion whore. Now you die." And as the last word was spoken the Emperor began to advance firing both large lasers and LBX10's at Kai's Penetrator. But the Penetrator was no longer where Sun Tzu had fired, Kai had kicked his jump jets an instant before Sun Tzu fired and was now landing just to the left of the Emperor. As his Penetrator landed, Kai fired all 6 of his medium pulse lasers and shredded the armor on Emperor's left side. Kai hit his jump jets again as Sun Tzu tried to turn his Emperor towards Kai, but once again Kai was no longer where he once was. Landing his Penetrator slightly behind the Emperor, Kai triggered all 6 pulse lasers again, this time 3 of them chewed thru the Emperor's left rear armor and slicing deep into the heart of the Emperor.

Sun Tzu felt his Emperor stagger and fought to keep the assault mech on it's feet. He took a step forward to recover his balance and then began turning to where Kai was, but once again, Kai was no longer there. Kai's Penetrator landed once again on the left rear of the Emperor, this time Kai fired only 3 pulse lasers to shed some heat. All 3 cored once again into the Emperor's thin rear armor and this time the Emperor pitched forward on it's face. "Give it up Sun Tzu, surrender." Kai watched as the cockpit hatch opened and Sun Tzu Liao emerged from the Emperor and actually charged Kai's Penetrator with a drawn sword.

Across the square, a infantryman from the 1st St Ives Lancers spotted a fool charging a Penetrator with a sword, he took careful aim and fired. His shot struck true and the sword wielding lunatic pitched forward and did not move. He returned to trading shots with Capellan riflemen across the way.

The sudden bloody mist appearing from Sun Tzu's torso shocked Kai. He took a careful step forward to sheild Sun Tzu with his Pentrator and popped his hatch. Quickly climbing down from his cockpit, Kai carefully and cautiously knelt beside Sun Tzu's lifeless body. "You should have surrendered cousin. It did not have to end like this." Kai lifted his hand radio "Sun Tzu Liao is dead, this war is over. Everyone cease fighting. We are of one people once again."

It took 3 hours for word to spread across the planet, but slowly, the fighting came to an end. The war was over.
