As we've less than a week until the giant robot battle weekend a few reminders:

Space Cat has a cat, if you're allergic bring drugs. I typically give the house a deep clean before anyone comes over for this reason, but just in case.
There are two parking spaces that are regularly available in my tiny "driveway", but there may be other spots available in the neighborhood. Due to the virus these may or may not be available.
If you need directions shoot me a message and I'll send you my address.
If you don't drink water or whiskey you'll probably want to bring a beverage of some kind.
There might be homemade cookies.

My wife is still on the fence about coming home next weekend, or the one after.  I'll let you know as soon as I do...

Sadly I had a setback and am on antibiotics again.  Hopefully next month I can make it out.

Fairfax Virginia.

Just an FYI, I managed to get my hands on a perfectly complete Solaris VII box set (maps, rules, cardboard all pristine). So if anyone ever wants to run a Solaris style game or campaign, I'm down.

Unless I have misread (hoping against hope I have) the subtext of the last communication from my wife, she's not coming home this weekend.  Assuming Tinyozora can give me a ride, I'll be there...

If something comes up and Tiny can’t pick you up, I’d be willing to give you a lift.  After all, you won’t want to miss out on the deviled eggs I will be bringing...

It really depends on when the Space Cat family feels comfortable letting us in.

Glad to have gotten out to game with those of you who were able to make it.

For those who are interested, we had 4 people (including myself) in attendance.  The format was everyone had to bring a list of exactly 6 mechs, vehicles, protomechs or battlearmor with a 10k BV limit.

All the record sheets were mixed up and given a number with a corresponding marker placed on the map in a random hex.  People wouldnt know what each marker represented until they went to crew it by running a jeep into the hex.

I decided to bring a Mjolnir B2, a Battlemaster K4, Raptor II 2X2, Juliano 5A, Warwolf Prime and...a Locust 1M.  I ended up finding and piloting 2 Javelin 10Fs, the Raptor II, the Mjolnir, a Marauder II 4A and an Axeman 2N.

I cant remember what everyone else brought, but some of the more interesting units that people brought were a Shadow Hawk 8L, a Morpheus, a Marksmen (M1J?) and a Longbow 14C.

We had to call the game a little early, but it was still interesting.  The Longbow had the worst luck the entire game.  It missed with 4 out of 6 MML9s needing 6s to hit I think.  Then the next turn, the Mjolnir gets behind the Longbow.  The Longbow flipped its arms and hit with 3/4 MML9s, but only 10 missiles managed to connect.  The Mjolnir did have it's right arm blown off, but its mace was in its left.  The Mjolnir (with TSM activated) connects with its mace and smashes the Longbow's face off.

One of Marauder IIs (there were 4 in total), had a floater crit to the head that killed the pilot.  Another one of the Marauder IIs got hit by the TSEMP from the Raptor II which caused the Marauder to shutdown; this Marauder had its head blown off the following round from free called shots.

The Morpheus took 2 criticals to its head which killed the pilot and a Hussar had its leg kicked off by the Mjolnir.  The Locust 1M was also destroyed; but let's be honest, that was to be expected.

Yeah, was an interesting event that was not at all decided.

For the record, I brought a Commando-7S2 (Freyr), Shadow Hawk-8L, Warhammer-5L, Longbow-14C, Demolisher II (Thunderbolt), and Marksman M1J.  Definitely some interesting stuff in there to really stretch the legs after the long break.

I learned that:
1) My mech selection is severally limited by my knowledge of the available technologies, I need to get so TROs.
2) TSEMPs are disgusting.
3) Any mech with a hand weapon that doesn't have TSM is...not great.
4) There's so much I need to catch up on lore wise since the civil war.

To address number 4 I stopped by a 2nd And Charles and got 20+ Dark Age novels for $2 a piece. I should have them finished in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, it's really sad to see a 25 ton mech out perform a 45 ton mech.  Granted, a Mjolnir is a better design than the Hatchetman with the TSM and mace, but still.

It headcapped an assault mech AFTER having one of its arms ripped off, after all...

I'll chalk that up to pure luck as the arm with the mace could have been blown off just as easily.
