(Answered) Air to Air shooting ground
« on: 24 December 2017, 02:18:56 »
So according to this http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=51694.0 if I understand it correctly a aircraft doing a ground attack immediately drops altitude and unlike almost everything else in the game does not wait for the end of the phase. The question that I have is how does this affect when you have other air to air units fighting? So example Unit A is the first to declare fire and at the time it declares it is at the same altitude and two hexes behind Unit B, so it declares that it is preforming an Air to Air attack against Unit B. Next Unit B declares and it declares that it is dive bombing a unit that it has traveled over this turn. The issue that this make is even though when Unit A declared it attack Unit B was a valid target because of its attack it is now in the dead zone for Unit A. So how does that work a valid attack was declared that is then made illegal?

Sorry, this one has been worked on for a while.  New errata:

Changing Altitude (pg. 84)
After: "If a unit descends more than two altitudes in a single turn, it must make a Control Roll, with a modifier equal to the number of altitudes descended."

Add: "A unit attempting an air-to-ground attack this turn must declare it, and any corresponding altitude changes and skill rolls required, during the movement phase."

Air-to-ground Attacks (pg. 242)
After: "Aerospace units can only make one air-to-ground attack per turn, and cannot make any air-to-air attacks in the same turn."

Add: "Air-to-ground attacks must be declared during the movement phase, including any change in altitude and skill rolls that occur as a result."

Does that clear things up?
