This is the Funding thread for Dragoon AEM-01 from Historical Liberation of Terra II and it needs $800.00 to be Funded.
Current Funding amount is $800.00 and has been funded
GENERAL NOTE: The mech is locked in, no extra variant parts.
-
I will be away for the weekend so when I get back on Monday I will update the amount contributed so far.
-
I'll go $300 ATM. Payday is soon. :)
-
I'll pledge 50
-
Count me in for US$20.
-
$30 here.
Mike
-
Mike - thanks for rounding off my pledge. Much appreciated O0
EDIT - fixed typo
-
been waiting for this one for a while.
$100
-
I'm willing to pitch in more if a few more people toss in. :)
-
I'll go in for $50
-
550 by my count. we only even need another 250 then.
I'm going to go against character here; Tigershark, buddy! Waita commit bro!
Anyone undecided; pitch in while you can. This is an incredible program with zero downside. I personally use FF as a subscription service for IWM. I can't afford a 200+ order all the time, so chipping in 50 here and there is perfect for me :).
If this stalls, I'll contribute a bit more as well.
-
I planned to have made a commitment today. And then I opened my paycheck and found out they messed it up and didn't pay me for one of the last two weeks :'(. Sadly it won't get worked out for another 2 weeks. I planned on a modest commitment and can/would cover the needed 250 if folks understand I couldn't do it until the next payday on the 28th of this month. That is barring that someone else doesn't fill up anymore before then.
-
No excuse now that thanks to Turning Points Epsilon Eridani the Dragoon has become a Com Guard design, in for $50.

Ahhh. So that's how they'll get around canonizing a Rim Worlds paint scheme. Clever. ;-)

Really?
That actually makes it tempting. Put me down for $50 too.
-
At least for the brief time that the comguards existed in the dark ages.

Nope, that wasn't why I included the design at all. Good try though. O0

Pure sarcasm. I wouldn't actually think that. lol More about how the RWR doesn't have a single, canon paint scheme in 27 years. Seems to not happen, for whatever reason.

It's a long term psych experiment to see if we can keep you and other RWR fans on the hook. ;)

Why have we not used a Jesse venture Look-alike yet in BT? Quick, do we know what Starling looks like?!
Who cares! Quick; picture him as Jesse Ventura! MUAHAHAHA!

Apologies, I would pitch in more but with the Lil' Aussie Battler struggling to keep above US$0.70 and at the same time I am trying to put together a decent sized pewter order to beat the IWM 01 Feb price increase, I only have a very limited amount of pocket money to contribute to the Dragoon :(

My funds are limited by items outside of my control right now. However, once Speck or someone else answers my questions I can probably wrap this mini up for everyone.

Without speaking on behalf of B-3 and Speck, when I was volunteered to be Highlander HGN-732 Resculpt Lead Fundicator (thanks TS_Hawk with Drac allies like you, who needs Blakists :D ) we were able to accommodate Fundicators who had some cashflow issues that saw a slight delay in them actually transferring their pledges to B-3. I was happy to take Fundicators at their confirmed commitment that they would make payment by a certain date (we accepted a date up to 4 weeks away in one case but I am not sure we would want to go beyond about 4 weeks as then B-3 is effectively sculpting without being paid for it yet).
If B-3, Speck and the rest of the Fundicators are willing to accept my services again then I will volunteer to be Dragoon AEM-01 Lead Fundicator. It will be a nice to be Lead Fundicator for both a SLDF and a RWR mech :D
-
I should have clarified, the cash follow issue should be rectified by the 28th of the month. That would seem to be within the allowed time frame. I'll read the tread over in more detail when I'm not zombified to see how much I'll need to throw in.
-
Hi, Since I voted for it, put me down for $20.00
Steve.
-
What's the total thus far? I may be able to help.

Thanks for volunteering to handle this Feenix! The work queue is filling up quickly, keep that fundication coming. :D
-
I know there are a few who will be committing funds in the near future. Does this mean we are at $800?
-
$130 from me to get it funded.
-
YEAH! Great!
-
By my count we have pledges equalling the funding target of US$800. The pledged fundicators are:
TigerShark - $300
beachhead1985 - $50
Feenix74 - $20
The Wayfarer - $30
Sartris - $100
ph423r - $50
Cyc - $50
klarg1 - $50
SteveUK - $20
Firesprocket - $130
I will await speck confirming that he is happy for me to be lead fundicator and that we have met the funding target before I will start sending PMs to the fundicators.
-
I have the Image for this one from the TRO, is there any additional art available out there?

Not in anything published. Perhaps the artist has some of the concept sketches?

Thanks speck.
"Fundicators, Mount Up!" :)
I will aim to send out a PM with details tonight (Australian Eastern Daylight-Savings Time which is GMT+11) but I cannot guarantee it with my wife working until 1930h AEDST (I will be on preschooler-wrangling duties until late).
-
PMs sent to Fundicators with instructions on how to paypal the money to B-3 and details that are to be sent back to me to pass onto speck so that IWM Webstore Credit Vouchers can be issued.
-
Well done friends!
Feenix74 O0 You rock man.
-
Cheers and thanks beachhead, it is my honour and a privilege to be able to assist the BT community in a small way.
A quick update, all Fundicators have reported in, almost all Fundicators have reported making payment to B-3 via paypal with the remaining payment expected to be made late this week.
-
Was anyone able to get in contact with the artist?
He and Stephen Huda are my favorites for modern BT art O0 I was overjoyed when I saw he did the Dragoon.
-
Fundication Update:
- All funds have been sent to B-3.
- B-3 has acknowledge receipt.
- Fundicator details have been forwarded speck for issue of IWM webstore credit vouchers.
- speck indicates that he should be able to find the time to issue the credit vouchers next week.
Many thanks to all the Fundicators for make this a smooth and easy to administer process O0
-
Guess I need to get started on orthos for Mr. B3hrl3... :D

This will be approximately the scaling:

That's looking very good. Perhaps it's just the paper next to the metal, but it looks more like a 50-tonner's size profile/scale than a 70-tonner. I think it might be the oversized nature of the Reseen sculpts, though.
-
looks great!

So, if you look at the Thor II and the Hammerhands, it looks great. Something to note, the Thor II is actually more massive (literally heavier) than the Warhammer 8K. The Thud is oversized, but the Mad cat is significantly smaller than the Thor II and the Wammer. I can promise you, this will feel right when you have it in your own hands.
We've been doing paper stand-ups for a few of the physical sculpts with orthos, the first big one being the new Highlander. And I think everyone has been pleased with the results thus far.

Oh yeah. That's what I was figuring. :)
-
Yeah, thanks for the printout/comparison photos, Stinger. I swear-- these are priceless for making judgment calls in regard to scale.
-
It looks awesome. O0 O0 O0
-
I'd say the Hammerhands is a bit undersized for modern standards, but the Dragoon looks quite a bit chunkier for the same height, which might bring it almost perfectly in-line with where it (probably) should be.
I do have one comment on the Orthos: You seem to have the shape spot-on, but, to me, the lines and edges look fairly rounded in the art, but much sharper in the ortho. (Specifically around the lower legs and chest armor.)
-
Just a FYI, credit will be sent out next week. Been busy with the chaos wars additions to the store last week and also preparing for the Battletech price increase that happens Monday February 15th.
-
Thanks for the heads-up Speck!
-
No problems and thanks for the update speck.

You will find that with orthos that everything looks squarer than it is.

How do we obtain a copy of the Dragoon, once it's sculpted?

Order it from the website. (You do not get a freebie.) You can use your store credit if you donated.

Many thanks speck, much appreciated!

Got mine!
We're running out of time in this Quarter, how soon can we start working on funding the next one?

Dragoon will be done by the end of the week. February was HELL.

B-3, you do great work and you are a boon to this community. Take the time you need, I was just curious.
-
I'm looking forward to sitting down and working this week in my nice quiet studio with no interruptions or distractions.
-
I think this one is done. The rest is up to the QCC.
-
The front torso looks like it's angled straight up and down. The art has it more angled about 60 degrees from the waist. And the head looks like it should be brought forward, near the ridge of the chest.
The rest looks great!
-
OOPS wasn't supposed to share those yet. :-X
-
OOPS wasn't supposed to share those yet. :-X
Craaaap! I missed that.
-
So does this mean that the Dragoon mini is now "unseen"? ^-^
-
For the moment. Yes.
-
I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. B3's work continues to be spectacular
-
Dragoon is done, approved by both QCC and Topps, being molded today and Master heading to IWM tomorrow! We can get going on the next FF Mech as soon as everyone is ready! :D
-
Thanks for the update B-3, great work on getting this one sculpted in quick time.
Now that it has been approved by all TPTB, any chance it can be un-unseen, so that us Fundicators can oooh and aaah over it?
-
oooh aaah Glenn McGrath 8)
-
I wouldn't call 5 weeks quick, but I got it done.

I think we just need Speck to launch the next fundication thread to get the next one started.

Fantastic work as usually B-3! I can't wait to purchase it.

:D :D :D
-
Damnit B-3, you just might have made another mini that I like well enough to buy, despite not being impressed with the artwork. :P O0 I didn't care for the Warwolf art either, but after seeing the mini at Gen Con (at the IWM booth) the year it came out, I had to buy a pair of them. THEN I bought one from the CSO Diorama that year also. ::) ;D
This is yet MORE Amazing work from you! [applause] [applause] [applause]

Always good to hear someone likes my work! :D

Can't wait to get ahold of some of these :)
Thank you for your hard work on this, B-3.

I DEFINITELY Like your work Sir! O0
My Problem now is, do I buy the mini once it is released, or do I wait until some CSO Artist paints one and offers it for sale, and try to buy THAT one? :-\ I'm NOT a painter myself, so if I can't buy one pre-painted I'll have to commission someone to paint it for me. :-[

Anyone know the turn-around time on this mini? i.e.: when we'd be able to buy some copies of it?
-
I would look through the Highlander and Flashman threads to see when sculpting was done. They just got added to the store recently and the date is typically on the IWM product page.

Ahh. So around 4-6 months, looks like.
-
Any updates?
-
At this point we'll probably know once IWM updates its release schedule page on its website.
-
I have no further information to provide an update with, so we will have to patiently wait for speck to find some time to provide us an update.
As noted above, the other Fan Fundication efforts have generally taken 4-6 months to go into production after the master sculpt has been approved by the QCC.
I will note that we are fast approaching convention season in the US, with IWM due to make appearances at Origins in June, Historicon in July and Gencon in August which means that the molding and production rooms at IWM are probably working overtime as they ramp up production to support both IWM and other companies that IWM do contract work for in preparation for having fully stocked convention booths plus convention limited editions and other goodies.
Please be patient, we may be pleasantly surprised in the Dragoon becomes available at a convention special like the fan-funded Primitive Rifleman was previously. However, this is all speculation on my part as I am not an IWM insider. In the interests of disclosure, I note that I do have a retailer account with IWM and have found them to be a honest and trustworthy supplier to deal with. I correspond with Melissa semi-regularly when we have the time to chat and send IWM the occasional care package to help them through the silly seasons.
-
I'd at least like to see the final images of what the sculpt looks like. :)

Considering I don't live near either, that isn't helpful to me.

Make friends with people that ARE going. 8)
If nothing else, you'd have to wait another month or two after GC, so that's not TOO bad. I can't believe it's the case where you HAVE to have at least ONE, or you'll LITERALLY die. :D
-
When I have a update about the release I will post about it. Don't want to get hopes up by saying anything now until I know for sure.
-
I'm not sure why people who attend GenCon or any convention receive the minis before the folks who funded them. Just hoping that's not the case.
-

Because logistics. Also, there was never any agreement that I remember seeing where fundicators were guaranteed first chance to purchase. Their funds only guaranteed that the miniature would be made. IWM decides how and when to sell the minis. We're not talking about a limited release that you will miss out on if you don't get first crack at it.

That's very true. There certainly was no guarantee of that. Oh well. First and last time, as they say.
-
I believe what Cache has written is the case.
I do run a small online business selling BT minis in my spare time and I have thought about trying to solve that logistical problem on behalf of IWM by offering to assist fundicators get as early as possible (ie when it becomes available to ship to retailers) access to the fan fundicated miniatures. Unfortunately, as I am Australia-based and the cost of international shipping may make it cost-prohibitive for the fundicators who are not here in Australia :'(
-
I wouldn't mind having the equipment to help them make the stuff, or at least the backlog for those not ordering for the various cons. Would give me something interesting to do during the summer while the kids are with their mother.
-
Will be available at Origins and then after the show on IWM website.

One more thing to look forward to at GenCon. O0

With the Dragoon becoming available now as miniature, i wonder if i just missed the official recordsheets for the many variants or if they still do not exist.

the only variants we have record sheets for are the original AEM-01 and the -05C from TP: Epsilon Eridani. The -02, -03, and -04 all lack BV on the MUL, which means no record sheet exists in the wild.

Why are record sheets necessary? The description tells you the approximate locations of the weaponry. Other than the order of the weapons and structural slots, they don't have any special purpose.

Record sheets make them eligible for use in official events.

Considering there are none in my area... :-)
Either way, it'd be pretty simple to ask the author for a mock-up of a record sheet. I remember seeing them on here before for the -02, -03, and -04. Not sure why these things are rocket science. The old FanPro TROs had the locations of each weapon, ammo, and internal component. I think the only thing it lacked were hands and lower arms. Much better than buying a $10 product just to find out where your Endo Steel is mounted. lol
Stuff like that shouldn't hold up the MUL or anything else. MMLab and SSW both easily calculate BV, which we've had for two years now.

If it's not published officially, it doesn't count for an official event. You can disagree with that policy all you want, but that's how it is.

The difficulty is not creating the sheet as much as finding the product to put them into.

We have had record sheets distributed for free download before. I'm not advocating all record sheets for free, but if there isn't an upcoming product that these record sheets would fit into, it's an option. I'm sure there are other missing record sheets that could be put into a product that CGL could sell. I'd love to see a record sheet for the Talos since we already have a mini in production.

Put them in the errata for Liberation of Terra Vol.2. ;)
It has the RS for the 01 and the TRO text for the whole mech. The RS should be complete in that product.

Everything but the cockpit is spot-on. It still strongly resembles the art, which is nice. My first Dragoon had the chest chipped off, so I have to get a replacement from IWM. Fortunately, I ordered two. The only real "flaw" I've noticed is a poor angling of center protrusion on the back, which would require grinding/sanding to even out.

Mech has been released, locking thread.
