If it was just an update on Steam but not console, I'm guessing it was a patch to fix PC-specific issues.

Things not sounding well for PGI, hard to tell if expectations for Clans performance were unrealistic but losing a sizable chunk of staff is a worry for the future: https://www.enadglobal7.com/press-releases/eg7-undertakes-business-optimization-at-one-of-its-studios/

Unfortunately, game companies have hit on the idea that layoffs are just a great way to boost profits on the quarterly balance sheet, no matter that future projects inevitably suffer from the loss of institutional knowledge and lowered moral this causes.  It likely didn't matter how MW5 Clans actually performed.

Yea, look at how Enad phrased it right in the URL: "business optimization." It's just more of the horrific wave of layoffs seen at video game studios as their venture capital owners push for bigger returns each quarter.

what a shame.  *sigh*  So much for hoping that PGI would support the so called "Switch 2" (which is not yet officially revealed; but that's a different topic for another time)

I hope new DLCs would keep Mechwarrior afloat.  If they do Wolf, Jade Falcon and Ghost Bear DLCs, they'll probably make them preludes to 31st Century Combat and (in Ghost Bear's case), Ghost Bear's Legacy, as in years before those events.

EDIT: Also, I hope that the Mechwarrior series doesn't die off.  I wonder if PGI would pass the torch to a different developer (and/or Microsoft) (if PGI is in serious financial trouble)... just a thought.  I'm worried about PGI as well.

Also, the Digital Collector's Soundtrack are now in MP3 format, if you have it on Steam or Epic

Just game companies? But yeah, sawing the legs off of the table to lose mass is pretty universal. Unfortunately, it's hit PGI as well.

Granted, if MW5 had better level design, maybe it would have been something more people could recommend.

A game's quality and sales has literally nothing to do with layoffs right now. It is 99% venture capital squeezing all they can get out of a studio, then liquidating their staff to save money. If the studio manages to pitch something the VCs like then they might invest again, meaning starting from scratch with a new team.

Its super shame.  They need team keep making DLCs so they make game more...playable beyond arcade like single DLC they came out with.

I wish they would continue the Mercs vs Clans, I think it would be better continuation to be honest.  Open Sandbox is better flexibilty, maybe updating Clans into new version of Mercs

Or even combined warfare (being able to call in support on the field, infantry, Elementals, tanks, ASF from points controlled, within story and instant action missions), more tactic like missions, actually choosing when to use Active Probes, AMS, electronic toys etc, similar play style to (am I allowed to say it?) Like Titanfall 2

As atm its just kinda point and shoot

I never figured it out: what do Active Probes do in this game?

Helps negate ECM effects, boosts lock-on (quicker and easier to hold) as well being able to detect enemies you may not have perfect line of sight on. The later two means its very useful with lock-on missiles like LRMs and Streaks.

Man, I forgot about the streaks in this game. It's a gameplay choice that I'm sure will appeal to some players, but personally I don't want to have to stare at my opponent for an awkwardly long time before I shoot missiles at them.

Wouldn't complain if that translated to a to-hit malus on tabletop though.

Frankly, I'd like see those features add to tabletop make the probe more useful.

Like in MWO, massed lurm assaults doesn't go too badly as well as that's the real value of mounting an active probe in Clans.

Like in MWO still far easier with aiming to go direct fire though...

MW5 also has the design upgrade option under electronics to keep lock longer.

Funny thing is first time I played through I never knew that upgrade option existed.
