Alliance Class "Warship"

The idea behind this is that what if, rather than build the overly complicated and expensive Fox Class Corvette with its many cost overruns and delays, the Federated Commonwealth instead decided to start off with something far more simple. It's basically a clone of an old Aquilla class Hull, with modern parts. The Jump Drive, is the smallest compact core available. The engines are right off a Behemoth class Dropship. The weapons are simple and easy to construct.

While small, slow, lightly armed, and thinly armored, it's still enough to send assault dropships running for the hills. After all, they're not going to be fighting enemy warship fleets any time soon, right?

It also could work for an Age of War design as well.

Not bad for the concept.  Tough, I do think you should have included some non-projectile weapons in there.  I hate any design that's totally ammo-dependant (*cough*Black Lion).

I'm not sure I recall any fluff about the fox being Overly complicated or having any cost overruns, at least not compared to any other Warship.
Nor are the engines "right off a Behemoth" since they come in weighing less over all. (6% v/s 6.5)

Not sure it would send too many Assault ships running.
Honestly I'm thinking a couple Obsolete Avengers w/ 15 Point Nose On strikes is going to put a serious hurting on it w/ that paper thin armor.



That said, I get where your going, and a simpler platform might have been in order back in the AoW days.  They could afford more variety in ships & so could use an old clunker like this one.


The Fox, IMHO, works well, as a Starter ship compared to the other houses & ends up being the
most plentiful ship in the 3050's era with what, almost 2 dozen constructed in total.
It makes a Great RCT/Taskforce command ship supporting the Army while the Avalon makes for a good Naval Flotilla command ship.  Neither of them is a "Line" battleship type vessel but both work well in supporting larger of PWS/Carrier/ASF task forces which is what we end up seeing much more of in the future.


This little vessel reminds me of budget carrier for some lesser periphery power.
Maybe Outworlds Alliance with that fighter wing ?
