What Catalyst IP besides Voltron has better brand recognition than Battletech?

If the JumpShip doesn't have any open Small Craft cubicles, you can... it just takes longer (a LOT longer).

even before then, it could get a bad rep just for being tied to it. the Knights of the Inner Sphere had a pretty bad rep in a lot of the FWL, because of how Thomas formed them by poaching the best pilots from across the FWL, and the fact that it was done as part of Thomas's power-centralizing measures. the knights gave him a military force that was more closely tied to him as Captain-general than it was to the wider FWLM and thus largely immune from any of the Parliment's remaining powers to strip a rogue Captain-general of military authority. the fact that Thomas used tham as his personal intervention force for various military-political disputes would not have helped either.that dislike would naturally extend to troops in the FWLM, who no doubt would have them and their signature mech used in a lot of the pro-thomas propaganda.

Now that explanation actually makes sense.

And don't get too excited - CGL has some IP it's using which has far greater brand recognition than BattleTech. Could be anything.

Theres actually a planetary map of Antallos here.

The mercs will land somewhere north of the Tali Sea and take control of a water purification plant (I will assume it's existence because Antallos is described as an irradiated hellhole). I want them outside but not too far away from Port Krin.
The terrain is mostly rocks and desert. If there are roads, I can't imagine them being anything more than dirt roads leading to protein farms or something similar, that are dotted around the "sea".

I don't disagree, but I do acknowledge the rules that say ANY change to a DS requires a shipyard, which isn't something a 3rd string company sized Merc unit is going to have access to.

I will provide details about the whole outfit once I get to actually writing the article. These particular mercs are one company of a much larger mercenary outfit that is funded by the Taurian Defense Force.
That funding is mostly comprised of all the basics needed to equip a company (including one dropship) and get them combat ready for their first assignment. From there on the company is on it's own and supposed to survive and thrive off salvage and contract money. They might get a small but reasonable biannual allowance from the TDF.

So as long as the company has enough funds to get through a year or two of peacetime operation costs they absolutely can go home and request access to a shipyard in the TC.

The monarch I don't like exactly for the reasons already provided - we can not not expect it to stay away from combat. Especially in a pirate rich environment like the Periphery.

.Given the cargo capacity you could even pack a few Lioness attack craft to escort the Bucc & then load up into cargo once you mean the Jumpship.

Can you load the craft as cargo while in space?

sadly mechmortars aren't one of the options that currently have stats for mounting on proto's. though they make a lot of sense.

Maybe it's because the premier unit that they are associated with was wiped out?

the fact that it also comes across as a heavier Orion probably didn't help. especially when the orion has better armor.
