Alternate LRM Carriers

So, not sure how it happened but I got to thinking about the LRM Carrier & went off on some ideas.

1.  For all the upgrades to the 3058 LRM Carrier it took a major Speed hit & could anything have been done to avoid that?

2.  Wouldn't it be interesting if you had "Medium" Carriers that used the same engine as the 60T model?

3.  Find a reason to use LRM10's on something.   Yeah, yeah, we all know they are the worst launcher.  I-don't-care!  I used them :)


Same ammo, electronics, & weaponry as the canon upgrade, but, instead of speed we sacrifice throw weight.

I really like this one because despite a reduction in throw weight per turn, the tank can actually take a hit or 2, which is TOTALLY needed since using Artemis & C3 means your NOT hiding behind hills like w/ the original LRM Carrier.


Same Engine, Half the throw weight, but way better armor, & price tag $$ :)

Ever since I've heard of the Rolling Thunder Brand I've wanted to see it as a Wheeled Carrier
Kind of surprised that the 5 extra tons negated the price drop for going wheeled.
Same engine again, but 5 tons bigger for a wheeled chassis so there is an even bigger armor upgrade.

The light SRM (lrm version) i really dig.  It uses an existing chassis id like to see more of.  I also agree 3 LRM10s is thematically appropriate, despite being the worst.  The MML version I think could use some upgrades, seeing as MMLs are later tech.  If you could fit more ammo using Ferro or a fuel cell it would feel MML Jihad era appropriate.

I debated MML3 for WYSIWYG v/s MML5 for flat out even swaps w/ the SRM6s

The LRM10 was really just a goal to make use of it, that said LRM5 won't match the 15 tons of guns so then I'd have extra for Ammo/Armor & I was just tinkering w/ minor weapon swaps.

LRM10's do have 1 advantage over LRM5's.
On Combat Vees & IIRC ASF? where your "slots" are limited.
That said, to use up those slots & yet still have tonnage for even a single LRM10 requires a fairly limited selection of vehicle sizes

For the record there is a canon LRM-5 Carrier from the TRO3026 fluff that House Liao used in the succession wars.
We have no idea what it looks like, but there is one out there, somewhere, with no RS.

I assumed yes since it has been around forever, but after digging to find that thread, I don't see it, so I mentioned it.

I also went ahead & threw in the Aldis Industries & Wolf Dragoon LRM/SRM Carriers that have different names, though that could just be "branding" v/s different stats like the LRM-5 clearly is.
