Did Jaime Wolf get a Bloodname?
« on: 16 February 2011, 17:47:26 »
I seem to recall reading that Jaime Wolf was given a bloodname as part of the Dragoon exercise. Was it just a surname used in the Inner Sphere, or did he and his brother become the founders of a new bloodname house?

He definitely did not get a Bloodname, nor got to start one.

Thank you Paul, it’s always nice to have a Writers definitive answer. And I think I may have found what I trying to remember.

Jaime and Joshua Wolf, upstart freebirths who had fought to earn their status as warriors and the Clan name Wolf, had technically gained honour by earning their names, but both were untried in combat positions.

Its from Mercenary’s Handbook: 3055. I had a nagging feeling that they had earned the name Wolf, just for some reason thought it was as a Bloodname, and not just as the simple Warrior’s name. But that’s probably what I was thinking of.

Well, I did not find it on my own. I was pointed to it by Lissette Woo. And I feel like an idiot for not thinking to check there earlier, but Clans: Warrior of Kerensky, page 39, second paragraph states that "freeborn warriors can claim Bloodnames through various methods. The warrior may be declared the progenitor of a new Bloodname–a rare occurrence, generally reserved as the ultimate reward. The best known example is Wolf’s Dragoons; the Wolf Clan spurred Jaime and Joshua Wolf to their best efforts with the promise of including their DNA in the breeding program and the recognition of Wolf as a Bloodname. An ilKhan may also create a Bloodname to reward successful completion of a mission, as Ulric did with the Bloodname of Kell."
