Probably? He was one of the notable pilots for the Dervish in TRO 3050U, several of whom I used as part of the original core of the unit.

Does anybody know how to modify the GIFs for the Elemental and Salamander to reduce the number of suits from five to four without it screwing up the camo? I used to have them but I seem to have not carried them over and they've been deleted. I can't seem to replicate whatever I did before, so if anyone could give me a hand, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I should be able to do that for you.

Just a quick holiday update: the campaign is currently on hold while Taharqa and I work our way through the Tau Galaxy game we've been slowly playing out. However, once that wraps up, the next Graves' Dancers scenario is on deck. It'll be the first space fight I've ever done with these guys, teaming them up with the Com Guards and Clan Wolf-in-Exile to break the Blakist blockade over Donegal. So stay tuned, Dancers fans!

A space battle, that can get bloody. O0

I suspect it will, especially since the Blakists have both an Essex and Manei Domini-piloted Spectrals. Hopefully, my Coalition meatshields will help soak up some of the fire that comes my way.  ;)

Will you have a warship or just dropships and fighters.

On the Dancers side will be their full aero complement, the Thunderchild, Tizona and Colada, backed by three Level IIs from the 116th Division of the Com Guards and a Trinary from the First Wolf Legion. The Blakists will have the Essex-class Righteous Honor, six Level IIs from the 18th Division and another three from the 50th Shadow. I'm considering bringing a few more assault DropShips on both sides to balance things a little better, but I still haven't decided.

No marines.
The Righteous Honor will make a nice little present for the Dancers. :D O0

Tempting as that may be, I'm not sure even the Dancers could afford to maintain a WarShip. I mean, maybe they could for a little bit: they do have a little over 830 million C-bills in their warchest at the moment. But I suspect, though I haven't crunched the numbers, that it would prove to be far too much of a drain for far too little gain.

EDIT: Okay, I did the math and it would work out to a bit over 10 million C-bills a month. And that's just for maintenance. If it actually got into combat and took anything more than minor armor damage, repairing it would practically bankrupt the unit.

That said - what's your objective? Realistically your guys are the ground assault troopers. The last thing the Coalition is your troops going hard against a warship and then getting taken out of the fight.
My advice: let the ComGuard and Wolf assault ships deal with the warship. You use your fighter screen to fly CAP and get to the planet.

Ok, having done a couple of test runs of the space battle, I've realized that I need to include a WarShip on the Coalition side. For keeping-to-relative-canon reasons, it'll be either the Cameron-class Invisible Truth or the Dante-class Bordeaux. Anyone have any suggestion as to which I should use, ideally along with an argument for the choice?

The Cameron class is a slow target just waiting for AS fighters to give it the last rights.
The Dante is much faster and has a lot more anti fighter weaponry.
Also it has twice the armour of the Essex class and is much faster.
The Bordeaux seems the better choice.

Yeah, when you put it that way, it does seem like a clear choice. The Bordeaux it is, then!

Also the fact that I had a girlfriend from Bordeaux makes me very biased. :D

I've been playing out the (sizable, as usual) Battle of Donegal over the past few weeks, and the Dancers just took their first casualty: Padraig O'Malley was killed in battle last night when a heavy gauss round from a 50th Shadow Division Demon Heavy Tank punched through his cockpit. Longtime Dancers fans may remember that this is also how Leftenant Robert Mykelby, one of the original Dancers, was killed in 3068 fighting off elements of the 18th Division on Solaris in defense of an IE dig site. And sure enough, guess which Militia Division is acting in support of the 50th on Donegal? Why, it's our old friends, the 18th, of course. Circles within circles.

Alright, I'm starting to mull over my options as far as filling the hole Padraig's death left in Hunter Lance. Leaving aside the actual warrior, I'm trying to decide on a 'Mech to use. Ideally I'd like to use one of the unassigned 'Mechs they've got, although I might end up modding up the one I decide on. Here's a list of what they've got available:

Berserker BRZ-X4
Legacy LGC-03
Falconer FLC-8R
White Flame WHF-3B
White Flame WHF-3C
Anvil ANV-7M
Black Hawk-KU BHKU-O
Men Shen MS1-O
Nightsky NGS-5T
Wraith TR1
Blackjack BJ2-O
Blitzkrieg BTZ-3F
Blitzkrieg BTZ-3F
Jackal JA-KL-55
Venom SDR-9K
Locust LCT-6M

What's the rest of the lance look like?

The Falconer has the same movement profile as the rest of the lance, it would give some long range clout.
The White Flames and the Anvil are too specialised. O0

I'd suggest the Men Shen - there's a great dual PPC variant that would fit in nicely

Just finished another session of the Donegal battle, and things are starting to turn heavily in the Dancers (and their allies') direction: five Blakist 'Mechs, four turrets and a battlesuit squad were brought down in just a single turn.

After a lengthy break due to both the holidays and RL stuff on both ends, Taharqa and I finally finished the Battle of Donegal tonight. I will do my damnedest to get the write-up done this Sunday, so stay tuned.

To most people of the Inner Sphere, today is just another day. A normal day, with just a hint of looking over one’s shoulder in case the Jihad bogeyman happens to be behind them. So many worlds…their days began like this one and became a twisted nightmare from which they cannot wake.

Not today. Not here on Donegal.

Our first big step forward, taking this war back to those who, for whatever reason, decided to inflict such pain and misery on us all.

Today, Donegal’s freedom begins.

Tomorrow, the rest of the Sphere.

Maybe now the Blakists will start looking over their shoulders.

For us.

—From the personal journal of Victor Steiner-Davion

SITUATION
Task Force Copernicus, Nadir Point
Donegal, Lyran Alliance
14 February 3072

In their haste to pull together a coalition of forces, the Kell Hounds and ComStar approached Graves' Dancers and several smaller mercenary units for assistance. After a stringent background check—called “the Broadsword enema” in merc vernacular—those cleared and accepted are transported to an unlisted star system, where the task force is hastily forming.

The main assault force comprises mostly Wolf-in-Exile, LAAF and ComStar units, with a few smaller mercenary commands attached mainly as support. While the Dancers are happy not to be the spearhead of this one, there is a sense of jealousy that the Exiled Wolves are at the forefront of yet another high-end operation.

Then again, it is the Word waiting below. Anyone in that much of a hurry for an execution is more than welcome to charge first through the door.

Optional Bonuses: None
Outcome: Total Victory

AFTERMATH
After Action Report 89-1-CS

The fight for Donegal was incredibly brutal. We didn’t expect the Word to be so firmly entrenched…and we underestimated the sheer power and will of their Manei Domini troops, as they’re called. While the intel we’ve gained here is invaluable, if this type of victory is going to be the norm, then we’re in for several more years of hard, system-to-system fighting.

This war has only just begun, it seems.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ST. VALENTINE’S DAY VICTORY
[Scene opens on a man dressed in MechWarrior togs. He is short and obviously middle-aged, but his khaki shorts reveal heavily muscled legs. When he reaches the ground and turns, the viewer sees that his eyes are an alert blue. He wears a look of grim determination, on one of the most recognizable faces in the Inner Sphere: The face of Victor Steiner-Davion. Camera pans to an overweight man in his fifties with a pockmarked face. He wears military fatigues and press credentials clipped to a shirt pocket.]

[Russo]: “This is Joseph Russo. I’m here talking with Precentor Martial Victor Steiner-Davion about the liberation of Donegal. Sir, can you tell us how it was accomplished?”

[Steiner-Davion]: “This was a coalition victory. Without the joint strength of ComStar, the LAAF and the Wolf-in-Exile forces, we would not have prevailed.”

[The picture switches to combat footage of a ghost-white Toyama battling a ghost-white Crab. Russo’s and Steiner-Davion’s voices can be heard over the clip.]

[Russo]: “So you cobbled together enough forces to defeat the Blakists.”

[Steiner-Davion]: “I would say, rather, that we could only defeat the Blakists by working together.”

[The screen shows a Mad Dog A painted in the red-brown and gray of Clan Wolf, tearing into the Toyama with its LB 5-X followed by a flight of SRMs. The Clanners’ attack gives the wounded Crab time to withdraw.]

[Russo]: “You place a lot of importance on the fact that this was a joint operation.”

[Steiner-Davion]: “Believe me, Joe. If the Inner Sphere is ever to recover from this madness, we will have to finally find a way to work together.”

Still trying to decide on the replacement for Padraig O'Malley, since I apparently totally deferred on that until now. Dammit, why does this stuff have to be so hard?

A lot of dead MW's. The 18th division really got massacred.
That was a big battle. O0
I wish I could get a good grip on reality, then I would choke it.
Growing old is inevitable,
Growing up is optional.
Watching TrueToaster create evil genius, priceless...everything else is just sub-par.

Yeah, the Exiles really laid into the Blakists, especially at the end when they started executing pilots before the Dancers intervened to stop them (because they needed prisoners for intel). That Naga Star basically won the battle for the coalition forces: they laid down absolutely hellish artillery barrages with ridiculous accuracy thanks to the Donar Star, which was split between the eastern and western flanks so that one half could always be moving forward at full speed while TAGing. The Exiles got the absolute shit beat out of them in return, which you can't really see in the victory screen; most of their 'Mechs and tanks were badly damaged by the end, even if very few were out-and-out destroyed.
