Drew Karpeshyn's proposed ending for ME3 has it's own problems.  Namely that ME1 had already established that Mass Effect technology was based on Reaper tech.  So the Reapers were giving civilizations technology, then killing them for using it.

Also, that made the plot of the series into a ripoff of a Star Trek TNG episode.

I suspect that not wanting to blow the universe up themselves is why the Reapers spend most of their time out in the deep black and dormant. It's also my headcanon that the relays and tech left behind were ways of delaying the damage of the Mass Effect, by shaping a young race's use of it into the most efficient and least destructive way possible... but the end result was inevitable.

Complaining that a scifi plotline rips off Star Trek is like saying "Simpsons did it! Simpsons did it!" Across six shows with what, a thousand or more episodes, of COURSE some scifi ideas will match up with something done in an episode or so. Hell, Star Trek has ripped ITSELF off on multiple occasions - V'ger was in a TOS episode, and also the main adversary of the Slow Motion Picture.

But Karpeshyn gave the potential to explore the idea much more in-depth, rather than touching on it in 44 minutes and burying it amidst hundreds of other episodes. It's an idea that deserves a bit more examining; the difference between a short story and a novel trilogy.

And ME's Westley is a smartass cripple who's boning a robot/his ship. Already winning there.  :P

Get the Citadel DLC for ME3, if you can. It's absolutely amazing and hilarious.
ME3 doesn't seem to be on Steam, but I found where I can buy & download it. I know about Citadel DLC from beforehand (seen trailer on YouTube). But it don't seem to be part of Deluxe Edition. Are N7 Arsenal Pack and From Ashes worth of extra 10 €?

And ME's Westley is a smartass cripple who's boning a robot/his ship. Already winning there.  :P
Do you mean Joker? Yeah, he was kind of badass in ME2. Though I was little surprised to see him hose down with a rifle from doorway, because I had send Jack to escort recovered crew back to the ship. I guess having Joker on that scene was easier to get done than anyone of the characters player choose for the job. Same thing with characters' weapons and armour in first ME's cut scenes.

I found the character you get in From Ashes to be very interesting, and a lot of the characters have unique interactions with him, particularly Liara. He also adds a surprising amount of information about what happened the last time the Reapers appeared.

It's more interesting than optimal, and therefore better. O0 - Weirdo

I just started Phantasy Star II again and grinded some levels. Dezo isn't a nice place. Especially the dungeons.

Got the urge to reinstall Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Sure is a lot faster with the Golden Nug that lets you learn end-game schematics right in the intro.  Decking out my whole team in Tier III or IV weapons and armor means I can steamroller areas that I barely made it through when I was four or five levels higher in my original playthrough.

Insomnia bit me hard last night, and while I don't really remember getting out of bed and sitting at the computer to do it, I realized I'd played through the first four missions of the Soviet campaign from Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2.

I forgot how goofy and fun that game can be. I didn't enjoy 3 very much, but 2 is pretty wonderful, even now twenty years later. (Realized at one point that my mission was to attack the World Trade Center, which felt... weird.)

Bioshock 2, latest playthrough. It's been a few years, thought I'd give it a go. I played a rescuer last time, thought I'd play as a harvester this time. I harvested the first Little Sister without much in the way of qualms, but when I was about to pick up the second Little Sister after killing her Big Daddy and she said,

"I-I'll be extra quiet, Daddy. Please don't get mad."

...I stopped. Turned the game off and went to play something else that didn't make me want to throw up, even a little bit. Yes, it's just a video game, but holy crap was that awful to hear.

I only started a harvester playthrough because I was slightly curious about what Eleanor has to say in the final level if you've been a complete monster. I'll probably find a playthrough somewhere, hopefully without some jackass yammering through it.

I think I might do a survey and see who, among people I know that have played Bioshock, harvested or rescued their first time through the game - and which they prefer. I have an uncomfortable feeling that the Venn Diagram for harvesters and real-life jerkholes overlaps quite a bit. It's one thing in Bioshock 1, on the Survivor mode, to harvest that first Sister so you've got enough ADAM for those early Big Daddy fights. But enjoying it might mean you're a bad person.

So, playing State of Decay 2 and just lost 2 of my BEST community members cause the guy I WASN"T controlling was an idiot.

HIM: "Hey, there's a warehouse we should check out."

ME: OK, Lets Go!

Drive there, as I'm trying to park the Truck, he jumps out, triggers a horde AND a HOWLER AND A FRIKKEN BLOATER!

Suddenly we are Swarmed by Zombies in a little narrow walkway, HOWLER attracting more by the minute, the bloater runs in and BOOM - BLOOD PLAGUE FEVER, down Guy the NPC/Dude NOT controled by me...BOOM, down I go, Get back up to stagger 5 feet before horde drags me down again.

I valiantly make 3 attempts to get up, but Nope...succumb to the Blood Fever and the frikken horde.

So he was Leeroy Jenkins and you lost your BEST community members because you weren't in control of that character.

Yep...Normally the character that tags along follows you, but in a few quest scenarios they (or others) I guess take the lead, and he blew it for our community.

Now I only have two characters left. An older lady with medical training, and some new nub I picked up.  :(

Better than the first one?  Because the whole everything-is-so-dark-and-depressing theme bored me so much that I actually forgot I owned the game after a couple of days of not playing it.

Hard to say because I didn’t find the first one unusually dark. The first village and understanding the hollowborn crisis was very dark, but It was mostly that region. The game became more hopeful, especially once I reached Caed Nua, my castle. Certainly not darker than finding out I’m the offspring and potential avatar of the God of murder slated for divine possession. Eder was always good for a laugh around animals. Aloth yielding to his alter ego, Iselmyr, was sometimes awkward and funny.

But there is something a bit brighter about it. Jauntier maybe with the pirate theme. Still a serious story. Still serious themes. Still lovable companions. I get to fight other ships on the high seas and explore the archipelago. Dual wielding pistols is dang cool. And I still love the tactical way they handled the chanter class.

Metal Man give you the best weapon, but probably the easiest to beat is Flash Man, at least if memory serves. Heat Man's gun is nice, but you'll want Item-2 (the flying Item) to avoid those stupid disappearing blocks, and that's from Air Man.

Remember, though, You cannot defeat Air Man.

Good gods, that video for "Airman ga taosenai" still brings a smile to my face ten years later. There's a ten-year anniversary edition that has updated vocals, but the SAME animation... and the updated vocals are, I dunno, squeakier.

I have noticed a bad thing about myself: I have no threshold for frustration any more. I decided to play Bioshock Infinite on 1999 Mode after discovering something that would let me pass that final fight - dropping Return to Sender traps around the spot you need to protect so you can eliminate your enemies without worrying as much about it - but I can't get past the second part of the first stage of the game, where you're on your WAY to the first Fireman.

And I know that I've done it before. I had to stop playing it years ago after spending two hours on that final battle fruitlessly, because I didn't really use Return To Sender until last week's playthrough. This time? It was the first stage.

Then, with Shantae 3, there was a boss - at least it was a BOSS, and not just ordinary enemies! - that was driving me into controller-throwing rage.

I hope I recover my composure soon. It's frustrating to be so easily frustrated.

I so badly really want to see a Fallout were it shows the beginning. Like from Washington DC, and your a Spec Ops officer, get to meet the President or someone in charge after the bombs dropped and have to escape to a shelter with early mutants and people turned Raiders. Maybe even a " Tour of Duty " on board U.S.S. Constitution...
