Bioshock 2, latest playthrough. It's been a few years, thought I'd give it a go. I played a rescuer last time, thought I'd play as a harvester this time. I harvested the first Little Sister without much in the way of qualms, but when I was about to pick up the second Little Sister after killing her Big Daddy and she said,
"I-I'll be extra quiet, Daddy. Please don't get mad."
...I stopped. Turned the game off and went to play something else that didn't make me want to throw up, even a little bit. Yes, it's just a video game, but holy crap was that awful to hear.
I only started a harvester playthrough because I was slightly curious about what Eleanor has to say in the final level if you've been a complete monster. I'll probably find a playthrough somewhere, hopefully without some jackass yammering through it.
I think I might do a survey and see who, among people I know that have played Bioshock, harvested or rescued their first time through the game - and which they prefer. I have an uncomfortable feeling that the Venn Diagram for harvesters and real-life jerkholes overlaps quite a bit. It's one thing in Bioshock 1, on the Survivor mode, to harvest that first Sister so you've got enough ADAM for those early Big Daddy fights. But enjoying it might mean you're a bad person.
