Panting Battletech miniatures

One of the things I love about the Battletech minis is the detail. How do I paint and manage to keep the details, especially after putting a wash on for the recesses?

Oh my brother, with your courage we can conquer,
In your sword I put my trust that you will honor
I will be the higher ground should you concede it
And my body be your shield if you should need it.

Generally, keep the paint a bit drier when doing details, so that they don't seep into the "cracks". After the wash, you may also choose to stick to just drybrushing, so that only raised surfaces are picked up in the pass.
